I love Dan Aykroyd. I really, really love his films. That's why watching that documentary was so hard. He's clearly a very talented, imaginative person. That makes for great comedic performances, but a poor researcher.

I'd watch Ghost Busters on repeat for the rest of my life if I could, but I wouldn't take anything Mr. Aykroyd has to say about UFOs and aliens with anything less than a bucket of salt. He's a big fan of representing opinion, and even debunked information, as gospel truth, which is a shame.

What is the controversy here....?

Is it that there is no actual physical evidence to suport our alledged alien visitations?

Or is it that people will not take the few (millions) sightings world wide as evidence?

What if we are being visited by some kind of alien.
What if one of them are standing next to you right now?
How could you be certain that there isn't an alien in your house right now?

Now you probably wonder, how could that be, because you are not seeing any aliens there?

What if they are outside the spectrum of light and colour that we can percieve?
Then it could be possible that one is standing next to you right now.

Perhaps sounds silly... But as we dont know how life on other planets would evolve or under what conditions they evolve.

Just something to think on....

Somebody is being bored, eh, Breadfan...?

It's never a good idea to post anything in that state of mind - especially where you can't delete it afterwards.

I don't have much interest in the UFO topic, to be honest.

And I don't have a picture of YOU.
In fact, I've never seen you in my life.

Please, apply the same measure stick as above and deduce the appropriate conclusion about your existence...

Well, I -was- actually being bored when I decided to open this thread. I got back from work (it was a very intense day) and I had an hour or two to relax before taking care of all sorts of other RL things many of us have to deal with on daily basis.

I couldn't think about aliens and their possible presence on our planet, while I was in the middle of the busy crossroad directing traffic, or thinking about them when I was supposed to take a familly member to a hospital etc.

One usually has to feel pretty relaxed and bored out of his mind to get an inspiration and post something that would produce 14 pages of replies. I believe best threads are made this way - when you can take an hour or two and seclude yourself from all the crap out there and write something that would be interesting both to you and people it's intended to.

I hope you understand how these things work. If not, well, I'm not putting a gun to your head and force you to read this topic or reply to it. And here's a smilie for you:

I can send you my picture but first you'd need to send me an assurance you're not suffering from any heart defects or PTSD.
I don't want to have you on my conciousness.

Right. And I said that we have 400+ military and government officials who will claim otherwise. I consider their credentials far more qualified than dime a dozen internet skeptics.

hahahaha.
nice try.
internet skeptics.
nice.
ATS is really going down.

This thread was clearly started to kick up some dust, its isnt worth it to talk about it, this is just a provocation. The evidence we can present to this statement will not be believed, anecdotal evidence will be disregarded, since it is not scientific, and science has been manipulated by the aliens so we can never prove anything to this minion of the reptilians.
Remember, they try to leech our negative emotions so starting a thread that will have people fuming only feeds their insolence...
Be wise and let this thread die out...
Even my stating that I have had contact will only be met with disbelief. The lights in the sky and the craft I saw were just figments of my imagination..

Well I hope you're not saying I'm the skeptic
I do battle with pseudo-skeptics on a regular basis around here. Gotta keep ATS what it was meant to be : a place for conspiracy theorists. Not wet-blankets.

Damn straight. This was apparent to me from the start so I have purposefully kept my involvement in this thread minimal.

Who made you the "decider"?

How 'bout if we all decide to keep it the way it is; a place where sometime controversial topics are opened and debated/discussed in a civil and decorous manner?

I'm still supporting Breadfan.....I think many of the posters flaming his comments really don't get the gist of his opening post. No single person, taking issue with his stance, can offer any solid piece of data that refutes it.

"Oh yeah???.....how 'bout 400 plus military people claiming it.....huh,huh???" Okay, they got a dead body to show us? Mugshots?

I like this one...."Oh yeah????.....well I don't think you exist buddy....'cause I can't see you." In that case, you may wish to seek some therapy. Apparently, you're engaging in discourse with a non-existent source?

In fact, I'll reinforce the notion.....there are no aliens visiting this Earth.....if I'm wrong, convince me. I know many of you, like me, have seen things that defy explanation. And despite the bizarre claims of some of this boards past "Conspiracy Masters", UFOs, alien sightings, occurences, sightings, etc.....have occurred on Earth, in it's atmosphere, or in orbit. Hmmmmm.....oddly earthbound phenomena, isn't it?

so far this is a true statement.

unfortunately the same applies to this theory also...

nobody can prove they are not visisting earth either.

so to say they are definitely not is unprovable...imo

I once heard it stated that it takes the testimony of only two people to proceed with a legal indictment for a capital crime.

Yet millions of people throughout history and up to this day make similar claims of sightings of UFO's and what not - but that's not sufficient to indicate their existence should be a given.

I suppose this is just a sophistic exercise, because I know that the poster isn't really asking for proof - I know this because none is accepted. The objective seems to be to practice denial and skeptical argumentation.

sorry it dont work that way...

this argument is foolish really because... nobody can prove ...or disprove ...that aliens are visiting earth.

That is impeccably lazy.

As I said, ATS is for conspiracy theorists. Not armchair pseudo-skeptics who are too lazy to investigate matters themself...

Sheesh. We are not here to cater to you pseudo-skeptics. In fact, we could care less what proof you demand. We aren't here to dig up research material for you

But I'll just listen to this guy... because he doesn't have an alien to show us.

I agree.. It's a tough subject for a lot of people because many fear the unknown or what they cannot explain. I've read "proof" that aliens don't exist and I've read and seen "proof" that there is something out there that we know little about.

That's insulting, rude, and ignorant. You have zero idea how much investigation I have done.

I wish I had a nickel for every time a poster here couldn't defend his/her position, and resorted to ad hominen attacks. Making their position weaker with every vitriolic word.

From a pure, critically viewed standpoint....it is much more legitimate to say "no aliens are visiting Earth", than it is to say "They're here!!!"

If you want to be so utterly convinced of something on such flimsy say-so....that's fine, at least let your intellect admit that there is just as valid a point to be made for the other side. Because after all, it all boils down to.....

You can't show me an alien.

Hey breadfan, a question? What makes you think an alien would have a physical body? It has been my experience that they just wear whoever or whatever they want.

Merida Alien Event Just a Prank

They mocked Jaime Maussan in Mérida, Yucatan, and alleged aliens disclosed it was all a prank.

Last week, the ufologist presented evidence of alien life in Mérida, which circulated over the Internet and show an alleged alien concealed behind a light post.

Authors of the "jape" disclosed that they did it merely to "to mock" Maussan and try to "get some dough" out of him. The prank, which "even passed the analysis with special equipment", was made with a mask that one of the participants purchased during last year's carnival in Yucatan's capital city. The alien evidence was broadcast by Televisa during the last episode of the Otro Rollo program, hosted by Adal Ramones. UFO Casebook

You don't have to believe anything. I was just commenting how despite the number of people claiming they have somehow interacted with aliens, still you need a corpse to prove it. But if you and a friend go to the police and call someone a terrorist - that person WILL be detained.

Its not the argument that foolish - its the notion that you must be 'convinced' thats foolish. No one owes you proof. You can choose to ignore anything, you can set the bar of evidence as high as you like. It has nothing to do with whether its real or not.

You didn't mean to imply that you want to be convinced, did you?
