I know that my birth rite as an American entitles me to nothing but the liberties guaranteed by my Creator to a free man. I choose the situations and conditions that I enjoy economically and socially. I refuse to participate in social or economic scenarios that put me in a category or circumstance that will precipitate my being manipulated for the advancement of a system of tyrants. I define tyrants in the more classical sense ascribed to despots and moniacal dictators.

I get my fare share by competing in the market and by skillfully utilizing my trade and abilities. No one owes me anything and I expect nothing but a fare return on my labor and skills when I work. Nor do I subscribe to the notion that a person of privilege owes me anything, except a fare market price for my labor if they contract me to do work for them.

The supposition that the wealthy in this country do not share their wealth and are not giving is not supported by any evidence that I have seen.

I also consider myself one of the luckiest human beings on the planet to ever be born, because I was born in this country, arguably the greatest nation ever conceived by men, in this last century, and have had more freedom and opportunity lavished on me than most human beings ever born. I do not, nor will I ever believe otherwise, and I will not under any circumstance squander that birth rite.

What about the Robber Barons of the 19th Century???

Do you honestly believe that just because you were born with capital that means you are a superior being??

It you can't create a minimum of a 10% profit on an investment you should be considered a dumba** like our current president who had the world handed to him on a silver platter yet could not seem to do 1 thiing right.

I admire your independance but I think you do not see that the game is rigged.

Leo Strauss,

I wasn't born with capital and I consider myself a freeborn man with no other guarrentee other than the opportunity to compete with my peers and equals. I'm not superior to any of my comtemporaries, I am individual with the opportunities afforded to all other Americans, what I have done with those opportunities has been my choice.

As far as the 19th Century Robber Barons are concerned I believe if you read the stories of men like Carnegie and Rockefeller you'll find they weren't exactly the worlds elite when they started, although they may have been a bit ruthless later, I consider them great examples of entrepenuers. Poor boys who made it, so to speak.

I wonder what Sam Walton would have thought about Walmart forcing American manufacturing jobs to China? So the "serfs" there can make all of our goods on the cheap. The "serfs" in China get sustenance wages, dangerous working conditions, environmental degradation on a scale not seen, little or no regulations or quality control. Ofcourse this is just a high profit margin environment. To them it does not matter if it is American jobs it's the unregulated free market working it's magic.

It always irks me that workers are the ones accused of wanting something for nothing when corporations get enormous subsidies and tax breaks not to mention their race to the bottom ethics. And it is the workers who are accused of being selfish and lazy!

Perhaps, but in the long run it is better to print your fiat out of existence than to succumb to decreased oil and energy production which brings everything down at once...

Interesting viewing, and of course nobody looks good claiming addiction is good for you, but some of their facts disagree with these in the washington post. Now, that story is old news, but it's enough to make me wonder. Is it that hard to determine if the Taliban banned poppy cultivation in '99 vs '00?
More recently, Mark Montesano asks the right question :"Is this news or propaganda?" www.azcentral.com...

Poppy production is at record levels because that's exactly what "THEY" want. How long do you think the Taliban could keep up production or even fighting with performance like last weeks raid on a poppy-destruction crew? from the UK Guardian: "A militant ambush on forces destroying Afghanistan's opium poppy fields sparked clashes that killed 25 Taliban fighters and a policeman, authorities said today." Taliban ambushes an agricultural crew; 25 Taliban die.

Clearly they aren't competent enough to be behind this evil. Better to ask Dick Chenney.

I thought i had a few good articles and even a movie with Dan Rathers CBS ffrom befor the war or 911 where he describes how the taliban have gone back and forth. And he was in Iran showing people living on the streets addictef to herion from afganistan. in that video he said the taliban said if there people don't do it its ok for them to grow it because it only will hurt the westerners.
But the UK now are saying they want Afganistan to start saleing it to Pharmaceutical companies because they are having shortages for perscription pills. So it might end up being a legal product from there sooner or later.but they will have to convince the UN and NATO to stop trying to destroy it first.
