From what I have read in many books, is that Jesus did not die on the cross. He lived on, and lived in France. Where he died at the age of 90. He told his deciples to keep it a secret from the rest of the world. So if you belive that Jesus Christ died on the cross, show me proof.

Sorry - if you're claiming he lived his life in France, YOU'RE the one that needs to supply the proof. Why? 'Cause Christians have a hard enough time scrapping together proof that the man WAS there, much less crucified. So if you're going to accept that and then make a new statement of what happened, you need to back it up.

And bear in mind, people have some pretty high standards for sourcing aroudn here

Which books have you read exactly? Please cite some sources. For all we know you read this in someone's coloring book, and it was written in Crayola.

Awesome! So your saying the only evidence you have for your claim is the lack of evidence for the opposing view. Using this logic, couldnt we prove Jesus did in fact die on the cross, since you cant prove he lived to the ripe old age of 90 in France.

I think this is my first post despite reading this site for a long time, but here goes! I think the book he might be referring to is alleged psychic Sylvia Browne's new book on secret societies. I bought it for my girlfriend for Christmas this year and remember a chapter on what "really" happened to Jesus, and her story is similar to his post...just a guess, but if it is where his theory came from it should totally be taken as a grain of salt. Sylvia Browne proves for some interesting reads, but in the end she (like all psychics) should be taken for a grain of salt.

The story comes from some traditions from a small city called Les-Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and by the late XIXth century story of Rennes-Le-Château.

However the question of Christ's presence in France is rarely - if not never- mentionned by any specialist of those topics.

Around 45 c.e., a small boat appeared on a coast of Provence. Aboard were at least seven (or six) women and six men, respectively (named in french) :

- Marie-Jacobé (Anne's daughter and mother of Jacques le Mineur and of Joseph Le Juste) ;
- Marie-Salomé (Zébédée's wife, mother of Jacques le Majeur and of Jean l'Evangéliste) ;
- Marthe, Lazare's sister ;
- Marie de Béthanie, Lazare's sister, often assimilated to Marie Madeleine (Magdala) since Grégoire Ier the Pope admitted it ;
- Marcelle, Jesus' disciple ;
- Suzanne, Jesus' disciple ;
- Sarah, black virgin told by local Gitans, who praise her above all other saints, to having lived in Provence before the arrival of the boat ;

- Lazare, the man that Jesus had resurected ;
- Maximin, Lazare and his sisters' Intendant ;
- Sidoine, the natural born blind man healed by Jesus ;
- Amadour, sometime assimilated to Zachée, Véronique's husband ;
- Joseph d'Arimathie, bearer of the Graal.

Marie-Jacobé, Marie-Salomé et Sara stayed in Camargue.

Marthe died in Tarascon.

Marie Madeleine preached in Marseille before retiring in the Cave of Sainte Baume for thirty years.

Lazare became the first Evêque de Marseille, and was beheaded under Domicien's reign december, 17th AD 94.

As for the mystery of Rennes-Le-Chateau, it's well documented on the www.

I'll put up the premise that red-butted monkeys can read Shakespeare.

If you don't believe it. Show me proof!!!!!

I told AshleyD about this the other day. We're on to you... if you want to gain a lot of points and have a huge thread, All you got to do is make a ridiculous claim about God or Jesus. You do zero research or original thinking, and just make lame demands for proof. Then we Christians who have nothing but the best intentions for your eternal soul will show up and do all the work for you. It's a conspiracy!!! We're on to you.

Stop it! I'm asthmatic! But you are so right. Just throw out any old premise and watch the Christians scurry to prove you wrong.

Now to the OP: I've also read some books. Many books. It says Jesus was the Son of God, who lived in Judea, who truly walked the earth, died for our sins, and rose again. Prove me wrong.

The burden of proof is you. Now get to work. The apologists are tired of doing the work for everyone.

First time I've seen a Xian say they didn't have the burden of proof, but oddly in this context you're right.

First ask yourself a question. Does any religious group have motivation for saying that Jesus existed but did NOT die on the cross? The answer is yes. When you find out who that group is, it'll give a clue into the reason for the red herring trail that ends in France. By all means, follow the trail, but don't be disappointed with empty results.

To those 'proof-driven' folks who said "yes, he lived a normal life in France" to that I ask...where's the body?

I can prove he's not here. The body won't be found. Very simple really, matches the fact that he rose from the grave and ascended to heaven. So yes, Jesus is alive.

So is that to say that all humans won't be found when their graves are excavated or just that he was the only one who's body can never be found? Where's Noah's body?

edit to clarify: I don't literally mean "all humans" just the one's that believe and "go to heaven."

He ascended into heaven. Read Acts 1

If there was a body the Jews would've saved it believe me.

Jesus the man and Jesus the bible myth are two different things, one was to die at the cross, as by bible legend and the other one lived as a man with a fruitful life until old age.

Is been written records of sightings of Jesus the man in places like India and many other areas in the middle east and surrounding countries.

The many Islamic and Hindu historical works recording local history and legends of kings, noblemen and saints of the areas thought to be travelled by Jesus also give evidence of a Christ like man; the Koran, for example, refers to Christ as "Issar". Further east, the Kurdish tribes of Eastern Anatolia have several stories describing Christ's stay in Eastern Turkey after his resurrection. These traditional legends have been ignored by the theological community.

www.sol.com.au...

You have to understand that for the believers of Jesus the divine myth, is not other stories and prof that the ones you find in the bible.

The first step in Christ's trail after the Crucifixion is found in the Persian scholar F. Mohammed's historical work "Jami-ut-tuwarik" which tells of Christ's arrival in the kingdom of Nisibis, by royal invitation. (Nisibis is today known as Nusaybin in Turkey) . This is reiterated in the Imam Abu Jafar Muhammed's "Tafsi-Ibn-i-Jamir at-tubri." Kersten found that in both Turkey and Persia there are ancient stories of a saint called "Yuz Asaf" ("Leader of the Healed"), whose behaviour, miracles and teachings are remarkably similar to that of Christ.

So is nice sometimes to research into what other books say about the Jesus that many have forgotten about, the real Jesus the man.

Occurs if any of them really existed.

I think the OP's talking about a book called Holy Blood, Holy Grail. If so, the authors are not saying that that is what happend, only that it is plausable from their research.

If Jesus is alive the apocalypse will come when he decides to kill everyone who worship the object that was used to torture him and wear it proudly around their neck on chains.

Apparently the french had/have a total disregard of Jesus else they would've at least marked the body.

Seems to me they care about burials going as far back as 6,000 B.C. :

"A French-English team of archaologists have discovered a 6,000-year-old tomb in France. Human bones and ceramic pottery were found inside the tomb. The discovery may help better understanding of Neolithic social structures, according to the French Research Council bulletin.
The tomb was found at the Prissé la Charriere site, where excavations have been carried out since 1992. The newly-discovered tomb is the first one to have been unearthed completely intact.
Six human skeletons (two men, a woman and three children) were found inside the tomb, placed one on top of the other. The researchers also identified two ceramic pots (one of them could date back to 4,300 BCE), a spear and a jewel."

www.stonepages.com...

Ah, but Jesus on their own turf? Not interested. Why is this? They didn't even build a tomb for Christ. But, some family from 6,000 B.C. gets one.

I hope you realize that Christians don't worship the cross. The cross is a reminder of Christ and a notation for others to see. If everyone were Christian, there would be no reason for anyone to wear a cross. Regarding "pride", you're making the assumption that wearing a cross carries all benefits and no consequences. From personal experience, I can tell you in great detail this is not true.

The coolest thing about the cross is that it was a symbol of absolute horror. The Romans were masters at crucification. They crucified people left and right to establish their rule by fear.

Jesus took a symbol of terror and turned into a symbol of peace love and redemption. Now that's pretty cool.

hey, what was the golden calf a reminder of? Just curious, because it was an idol too and it helped people remind them of their god too...why is the cross ok to have as a reminder, but not a golden calf????

hope you relize that those of us who don't need an idol to worship, don't have a cross to remind us of previous religions, or the brutal and in-humane execution device that was used to kill people...and also where does it state in the book where followers of jesus need an image or an idol of sorts to remember him by? I thought we were to accept him in our hearts. Didn't say accept him by looking at a cross or wearing one, or putting one up on a hill side with a 1,000 watt spot light on it! Also, I don't recall Jesus shoving some image like this down our throats.

Face up to the reality of it...the cross is an idol used by worshipers, and the church uses it as a billboard. Frankly, I find it morbid and disgusting...but whatever, if you need an idol around your neck, or one in your church made of gold and other prescious metals (money that could be used to feed the hungry) with fine cloth draped around it and shrowded in fresh (and more unnecesary expense) floral arangements to feel good about yourself every Sunday, then go ahead with the graven image...i just don't understand why you need something to look at, particularly when you claim to follow what is written, and yet having a cross isn't written, in fact, I think if you look in that book (I'm using mine as a door stop so the cat can get to the kitty box) called the bible I believe somewhere it says something about how thou shalt not have things like the cross before [him] me....

Cheers!
Love one another!!!
