Actually I think anyone who gets stalked or harassed by scientologists or any other religious/cult followers should just video them and post it on youtube.

OR maybe post the phone number of the Scientologist stalking you and then let all of us try and convert them over to ATS.

We can call day and night until they finally cave!

Jedi,
I've seen a lot of your posts and I have no doubt you are a very decent kind person. Not everyone is however and people have to keep their guard up. Religions and Cults are attractive to these people and all of these groups have more than their share of possibly dangerous radicals.

Scientology is a particularly transparent scheme to everyone but those who are trapped inside of it. They think they are being unfairly singled out or picked on when in fact most are just trying to expose them to the truth.

Hubbard's dark history is so well documented that it has to be hidden from the members. Nobody is inventing this stuff about Hubbard because the truth about him is so bizarre that it speaks for itself. If the members were to realize they are victims of a organized criminal organization run by confidence men they would probably tear the buildings down so they could escape faster.

Genuine Churches do good things and don't hide information or lie about their origins to keep members from quiting. They don't ask for huge sums of money for the truth as they give it freely to all which is as it should be. If someone charges you for supposed truth to help you, you are being conned and the people taking the money are lying. Real truth is free for everyone.

The fact that Scientology charges ridiculous sums of money for what they call the truth is a huge alarm bell that something is wrong. The fact their leader died in a Trailer full of drugs and alcohol after many years of a history of similar behavior should end the groups existence. Nobody needs to lie about Hubbard and his criminal and bizarre behavior as it well documented for all intelligent people to see if they look. Even his family members and friends shared the truths about him. In fact he is so well documented his name is in spell checkers.

Vimes (and Jedi),

You probably have read the article from "Rolling Stone" but I thought others coming to your thread might be interested in it to help them understand your concern.

Inside Scientology - Rolling Stone

Some interesting quotes-

Scientology releases no information about its membership or its finances. Nor does it welcome analysis of its writings or practices. The church has a storied reputation for squelching its critics through litigation, and according to some reports, intimidation ...

...Several, in speaking of their lives spent in the church, requested that their identities be protected through the change of names and other characteristics. Others insisted that not even a gender be attached to their comments...

...It is impossible to go anywhere in downtown Clearwater without being watched by security cameras. There are about 100 of them...

...Unique among religious faiths, Scientology charges for virtually all of its religious services. Auditing is purchased in 12.5-hour blocks, known as "intensives." Each intensive can cost anywhere from $750 for introductory sessions to between $8,000 and $9,000 for advanced sessions...

...Freedom is a process that can take years and cost tens and often hundreds of thousands of dollars -- one veteran Scientologist told me she "donated" $250,000 in a twenty-year period. Other Scientologists can wind up spending family inheritances and mortgaging homes to pay the fees...

... Scientologists are told the secrets of the universe, and, some believe, the creation story behind the entire religion. It is knowledge so dangerous, they are told, any Scientologist learning this material before he is ready could die...

This a very good article, well researched and well thought out.

An important quote I forgot -

To attack his enemies, Hubbard issued a policy known as "Fair Game," which maintained that all who opposed Scientology could be "tricked, sued or lied to and destroyed." This policy was enforced by Scientology's quasisecret police force, known as the Guardian's Office. By the 1970s, among its tasks was "Operation Snow White," a series of covert activities that included bugging the Justice Department and stealing documents from the IRS.

They don't deny it they just claim they stopped. I'm actually nervous even posting a link to the article.

NBC should start a new program "To Catch A Stalker". I bet the first month alone they'll take out the entire (U.S.) East Coast Scientologist Cartel. Wouldn't surprise me if a few showed up on "To Catch A Predator" as well.

I wish you lived in the U.S., I could help you out more.

True Story (Australia)

Roughly 20 years ago in my mid teens, a friend and I stupidly went into the local Scientology HQ in our area. At that time I had NO idea what it actually was. They simply had a sign out the front offering a free lunch if we answered a questionnaire.

We thought, "Alrighty a FREE lunch". We were placed in a room with a little machine on the table and a couple of sandwiches. Five minutes later, the guy we met in the reception area poked his head in the door to make sure we had eaten our lunch and then gave us a couple of pamphlets to read over. Then closed the door with the promise he would be back soon to test our responses on this little machine. We thought, "Cool, how Sci-Fi"!

We opened the pamphlets and realized what it was and immediately made for the door to leave. We were not amused at being hood-winked.

Well, the door was locked! Sooooo, we thumped on the door in a very aggressive manner until it was unlocked and opened. We simply told the guy to get out of our way or we would go directly to the local police station that just happened to be on the same road, less than 100m away.

He understandably let us go.

If I had a guy ringing me about this crap trying to indoctrinate me, I would simply put the threatener on him that you will take it to the police for a restraining order.

Or

I would pretend to be interested long enough for him to tell me what group he was from and where they were located, then put the legal threatener's on him and follow it up by saying your going to also contact the local Radio/TV Stations and uncover him and his group in for their unethical practices.

Gotta love those Scientologists! Pffffft!

id probably refrain from telling the guy off. just kindly tell him you arent interested and to please stop calling.

chances are, if you piss him off, its not hard to spread your contact info around to all his friends and they can start really harassing you.

is it just me or is reading comprehension going down the tubes in today's society?

is see this all the time on this forum. it's hard enough to wade through the crap that people do "understand", the least they could do is read the posts fully before typing.

sorry for the rant, but i only have so much time to waste!

on topic-

this would freak the heck out of me. cell phones arent listed, and it make you wonder where he got it.

In the future it would be a good idea not to accept food from strangers. You have no idea what they could have put in those sandwiches!

As far as the OP's stalker, I'd agree with Scientist - it's better not to provoke him. Just block his number. (call your phone company to find out how).

Good luck!

The advice to politely decline any further contact is sound. If the recruiter does keep bothering you, then the notion of keeping a whistle handy becomes quite appealing.

BTW, at one point, I think the OP asked if they make a commission for bringing new people into the "church". To a certain extent the answer is, Yes, they do. There is sooo much to read about this business that I doubt anyone knows everything, but I know I've read several times that they do make commissions. I have no idea how this is applied, but I would guess that it used for further auditing sessions for the recruiter.

So if this guy is really, really hurting you and stalking you why aren't you calling the police? To post it on a message board does nothing to help you.

I think it was just some guy on the street talking to you. Perhaps you are afraid of people or shy in a way. And you saw this guy as scary..maybe your perceptions of friendly people are somewhat heightened. He could be just an innocent guy and you made him out to be some alien monster.

Jedi.. could you please just take his word for it? telling him that it might be his perception at fault is kind of rude and creepy as it's implies you know better. There is no reason to assume that he's not telling the truth or not interpriting people and his own experiences correctly.

When a person ignores repeated "no thankyou"s they are no longer just trying to be friendly.. they are imposing.

i would see what he has to say. Obviously you have something they need. Know wouldnt it be better to know what that is? If you dont agree on what they want it for, thats your choice. but maybe it would be nice to know why? maybe he wants to save you.
perhaps they need their numbers at 144000
