I used to be convinced I was an "Indigo Child"

I don't buy it anymore though. They don't really do anything except find other supposed "indigos" and meet up at local coffee shops and discuss their "powers" and how everyone else basically sucks.

I KNOW indigo children are real, I'm one myself. I know I'm an indigo child because well... I just know. I'm more of a modest person, and me being an indigo child is just well, a very reverant gift, at least I love it. I want the world to change, I want to reach out to everyone in pain and just take it away from them, kind of like Jesus (no offense to anyone who doesn't believe in him) But anyways, indigo children are real, they disrespect authority because they see how wrong people can be, and wish to take control and just do things right. Not that they're control freaks, when people do things right- that makes sense, they're happy about it and wish nothing more then to be surrounded by smart people who understand them. Ummm... I'm ganna just throw this out there but uh... I kind of can feel emotions through the web and kind of think it may have to do with being an indigo child because their more clairvoyant, meaning they're more intuned to feelings around them.

Indigo is the most recent aura color to arrive on the planet. Indigos are ushering in a new energy, a new consciousness, and a new age of peace and harmony. Whereas Violets feel driven to help save the planet, to educate the masses, and to improve life here, Indigos are here to live as examples of a new higher awareness.

At this writing, most of the Indigos are children, although there are a few Indigos who came as forerunners years ago. The words used to describe Indigos include honest, aware, highly intuitive, psychic, independent, fearless, strong-willed, and sensitive.

Indigos are old souls who know who they are and where they've come from. Some consider Indigos to be bizarre. These assertive individuals are born with their spiritual memories intact. Many parents report that their Indigo children regale them with vivid details of past lives or recent encounters with spiritual beings. Parents also report that these children can read their minds and seem to have amazing psychic abilities. Parents are often at a loss as to how to raise these amazing little beings.

An unusual characteristic of Indigos is that they frequently appear androgynous. It is often difficult to tell if Indigos are male or female, homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, or asexual. It's as if Indigos have both the yin and yang, male and female qualities within them. Their sexuality is not their primary concern however; it is their spirituality.

(To all who think Indigo Children are a hoax)

I do find it interesting how many people go out of their way to bash the Indigo idea...

I've never called myself an Indigo and sort of think the whole "movement" of bringing it to books, to attention, is a little odd. But, it allows people of like mind to come together - although we of like mind find each other anyway!

Am I an Indigo? Sure, yup. Do I care about that label? Not in the least.

I would love to be an Indigo child, I think...but can we change the name? (I think the other colors will make fun of us)

It would be awesome to be a part of something...I know....a lot of people think it's just hogwash...but what the hay...

I think that being an Indigo really makes it hard for me to adjust to everyday life. I have a hard time not being in charge all the time.

Can we have Indigo get togethers? With cookies? Who would be in charge? Can I be in charge? You would all have to eat cookies though. (but we can have a few different kinds)

Do any of you others feel discriminated against because of your superiority? Sometimes I do. It seems like those 'other' people are just mean.

Is there an official association? If not, we should make one. I'll be the treasurer, but still be in charge, ok?

Are intelligent, though may not have had top grades.
Who doesn't want to consider themselves intelligent?

Are very creative and enjoy making things.
I colored and finger painted and liked to sculpt and make things with macaroni when I was a kid. Does that count?

Always need to know WHY, especially why they are being asked to do something.
Name me one child that doesn't ask "Why" when you either tell them to do something or tell them "No!"

Had disgust and perhaps loathing for much of the required and repetitious work in school.
Again, name me one child that isn't Manic or Obsessive Compulsive that enjoys doing school work?

Were rebellious in school in that they refused to do homework and rejected authority of teachers, OR seriously wanted to rebel, but didn't DARE, usually due to parental pressure.
Teenagers + Elevated Hormones = Rebellion

May have experienced early existential depression and feelings of helplessness. These may have ranged from sadness to utter despair. Suicidal feelings while still in high school or younger are not uncommon in the Indigo Adult.
Teenagers + Elevated Hormones + No Sex = Depression/Thoughts of Suicide

Have difficulty in service-oriented jobs. Indigos resist authority and caste system of employment.
Tell me how many times you can ask "Would you like Fries with that? before you began to hate your job and your boss?

Prefer leadership positions or working alone to team positions.
You don't have to be a Type A Personality to like to be the one in control, or do it your way on your own. If given the choice of working with others and having to compromise, or being the one making the choices, I think 99.9% of people would chose the later.

Have deep empathy for others, yet an intolerance of stupidity.
Even the stupid hate stupid people...and every person on this planet with the exclusion of the rare few that are Sociopathic have human empathy. It's called Compassion and it is part of the human condition.

May be extremely emotionally sensitive including crying at the drop of a hat (no shielding) Or may be the opposite and show no expression of emotion (full shielding).
You may have dark hair or light hair. You may feel hot and sometimes you may feel cold. You may sometimes feel hungry or you may be the opposite and not feel hungry at all. Come on!

May have trouble with RAGE.
Who hasn't had a problem with Rage? Ever see a child throw a tantrum? Ever see a child who never threw a tantrum (trick question because they are mythical like the unicorn)? Part of growing up is learning Anger Management skills.

Have trouble with systems they consider broken or ineffective, ie. political, educational, medical, and legal.
I don't understand math, therefore it must be broken or ineffective. Quantum physics makes no sense to me, therefore it must be broken or ineffective. Anything that I don't understand personally must be broken or ineffective. It can't be me because I'm smart, or at least like to think I am.

Alienation from or anger with politics - feeling your voice won't count and/or that the outcome really doesn't mattter.
From the whining that goes on in every bar, on every forum, on every news show, from every pundit, over every decision that goes on in politics then everyone must be an indigo. Read Plato's Republic or Aristotle's Politics and Poetics. If politics haven't changed for thousands of years, it is doubtful that those who aren't politicians would have their feelings changed about politics any over that time period either.

Frustration with or rejection of the traditional American dream - 9-5 career, marriage, 2.5 children, house with white picket fence, etc.
Who likes chasing after a carrot on the end of a stick? If you can't have it, then why chase after it? If it makes you unhappy why stick with it?

Anger at rights being taken away, fear and/or fury at "Big Brother watching you."
Asking this on ATS is like asking if anyone here thinks that the Government is their friend.

Have a burning desire to do something to change and improve the world. May be stymied what to do. May have trouble identifying their path.
Again, this is part of the Human Condition. We do not come equipped with a User Manual. However, one of our most basic needs is to something, or be part of something, bigger than oneself. It drives us in everything we do from the moment we are born. The only things more powerful than that drive is the drive to eat, drink, and procreate. If you don't have this then you aren't a human.

Have psychic or spiritual interest appear fairly young - in or before teen years.
When one is young they do not have a thorough understanding of the world or of Causation. Even a child who has developed skills of logic, deference, and reason, is unable to explain even some of the more rudimentary occurrences in everyday life. So, it is natural, just as it was natural for our ancestors before the Age of Reason, to explain that which we do not understand and associate it with superstition and extraordinary causes.

Had few if any Indigo role models. Having had some doesn't mean you're not an indigo, though.
How can you have an Indigo Role Model if you don't know who is Indigo?

Have strong intuition.
I think at around noon I am going to start to feel hungry. I sense that I will meet someone of the opposite sex in the near future. I feel that I will have a job opportunity revealed to me. It's not rocket science, sorry.

Random behavior pattern or mind style - (symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder). May have trouble focusing on assigned tasks, may jump around in conversations.
A disordered or unfocused mind is a sign of someone who clearly hasn't taken the time to put their house in order. If you never clean your house, will it not look random and a relative mess?

Have had psychic experiences, such as premonitions, seeing angels or ghosts, out of body experiences, hearing voices.
Do you too want to believe that there is something beyond what you can physically sense? If you believe strong enough you can even make them true!

May be electrically sensitive such as watches not working and street lights going out as you move under them, electrical equipment malfunctioning and lights blowing out.
Are you alive? Then you have a nervous system that is electrical. Does your body build up static when you rub a balloon against your hair, or when you walk across a rug, or when a cat rubs against you? Welcome to the club!

May have awareness of other dimensions and parallel realities.
When you sleep do you dream? When you are bored do you dream? Even dogs dream, so does every human.

Sexually are very expressive and inventive OR may reject sexuality in boredom or with intention of achieving higher spiritual connection. May explore alternative types of sexuality.
Again, you may or may not be this way...but either way you are an indigo? Come on!

Seek meaning to their life and understanding about the world May seek this through religion or spirituality, spiritual groups and books, self-help groups and books.
Have you read the Bible. If yes, then you are an Indigo. If not, have you read the Torah/Quran/Divine Pymander/Bhagavad Gita/Sutras of Patanjali? If yes, then you are an Indigo. If not, have you read any Self-Help books, or books about Religion or Belief in any way? If yes, then you are an Indigo. If not, you are clearly illiterate.

When they find balance they may become very strong, healthy, happy individuals.
What person doesn't have moments of strength, healthiness, happiness, even if fleeting? Name me one thing in Nature that does not seek balance? Take a string, a stick, and a bob. Tie one end of string to bob, and other end of string to stick. Hold stick. Swing bob. Although the bob will swing to the left, it will also swing to the right, and in the end return to the center. So is everything else in nature, people included!

I don't mean to be derisive or snide, and I would like to apologize in advance if my answers have seemed as such.

However, in my mind those questions are no different than the myriad of senseless quizzes I've seen on every MySpace and FaceBook page for "Are you a Sex Maniac" or "Are you Super Human" or "Are you Goth". If you are taking the quiz in the first place you've already formed your own decision and don't need a quiz to justify your belief.

If this quiz is somehow representative of "Indigos" then I would be led to believe that Indigos are no different than any one else on this planet, even in their need to differentiate themselves by giving themselves a title that others do not.

So, does that mean I'm an Indigo?

I suppose it is a side-effect of having a Bicameral Mind that makes humans want to think of Us and Them or Black and White or Indigo and Vanilla, when in actuality we are all just human.

You don't have to justify that you are unique by being indigo. You are unique by being human. Each and every one of us, although we have the same Human Condition, qualities and flaws, as the other 7 Billion humans, we are the sum of the experiences that are unique to each individual. There is no one like you just as there is no one like me, yet we try to find our individuality in associating with others "unique just like us".

The greatest crimes of humanity have occurred because people consider themselves different than their fellow human beings. This leads to delusions of separateness and of greatness, of entitlement, and of superiority, all of which inevitably lead to causing harm unto others.

Granted, it may not be a big deal for one to consider themselves to be an Indigo. If that is what they need to find their individuality, then more power to them. However, they should be warned that they too are no different than the next person, lest they forget such and find themselves considering themselves to be separate, superior, greater or entitled to more than the next person.

Wouldn't, therefore, a truly enlightened group of people say "I am human, no more and no less, just like each and every one else"?

Are intelligent, though may not have had top grades.
Who doesn't want to consider themselves intelligent?

I beg to differ, of all the people I know, friends or collegues, only a small percentage perceive themselves as having above an average intellegence. Besides, being intellegent, and wanting to be intellegent are two different things. Yes - wouldn't everyone want to consider themselves intellegent, but that doesnt mean they believe it true of themselves?

Are very creative and enjoy making things.
I colored and finger painted and liked to sculpt and make things with macaroni when I was a kid. Does that count?

I think they mean creative in general - as an adult included.

Always need to know WHY, especially why they are being asked to do something.
Name me one child that doesn't ask "Why" when you either tell them to do something or tell them "No!"

Again.....as an adult. Ever meet an adult whos very annoying, cause they just wont accept things like the rest of them - they need reasoning and explanation? Thats an indigo type.

Had disgust and perhaps loathing for much of the required and repetitious work in school.
Again, name me one child that isn't Manic or Obsessive Compulsive that enjoys doing school work?

True.

Were rebellious in school in that they refused to do homework and rejected authority of teachers, OR seriously wanted to rebel, but didn't DARE, usually due to parental pressure.
Teenagers + Elevated Hormones = Rebellion

True.

Cmon - its not common for all teeneagers to feel suicidal.

Have difficulty in service-oriented jobs. Indigos resist authority and caste system of employment.
Tell me how many times you can ask "Would you like Fries with that? before you began to hate your job and your boss?

By resist, its meant that they will RESIST come hell or high water, they would rather be jobless and broke, and eating out of a dustbin.....THAT kind of resistance. Not a disliking...a RESISTANCE.

Prefer leadership positions or working alone to team positions.
You don't have to be a Type A Personality to like to be the one in control, or do it your way on your own. If given the choice of working with others and having to compromise, or being the one making the choices, I think 99.9% of people would chose the later.

True - there a many different 'types' that like leadership positions. But this is being pointed out as ALSO one of the indigo's quality's. It doesnt mean that every leader you see is an indigo. Rather this is a probable characteristic of an indigo.

Have deep empathy for others, yet an intolerance of stupidity.
Even the stupid hate stupid people...and every person on this planet with the exclusion of the rare few that are Sociopathic have human empathy. It's called Compassion and it is part of the human condition.

True, yet I have met a great many that have no compassion, and can only converse with stupid people. So this is not true of al people. Sadly not even the majority.

Come on!

These are two extreme personality types refered to here. You saying that on this planet there are only these two types. Extremely sensitive, or extremely cold? Nothing in between?

May have trouble with RAGE.
Who hasn't had a problem with Rage?

Most people don't have rage issues.....you might underestimate the meaning of the word perhaps.

Ever see a child throw a tantrum? Ever see a child who never threw a tantrum (trick question because they are mythical like the unicorn)? Part of growing up is learning Anger Management skills.

Refering to Adult rage - not child tantrums.

Now I really must agree with you on this point.

I think 'alienation from politics' is a better description for indigos. - And don't say this is a common trait - as you know its not. Alienation means not wanting to have a single thing to do with it - and jsut by being angry with the system , means that you are having something to do with it. Its this that seperates them - not the anger with politics - you are right. Just about EVERYONE is angry with politics.

Frustration with or rejection of the traditional American dream - 9-5 career, marriage, 2.5 children, house with white picket fence, etc.
Who likes chasing after a carrot on the end of a stick? If you can't have it, then why chase after it? If it makes you unhappy why stick with it?

SOOOO many people ARE happy with this dream package - and perserver after it. It is THIS that an INdigo can't understand. It is completely unappealing (not JUST the 9-5 carrot chasing - you isolated that point out in your argument, -the WHOLE package, picket fence included)

Anger at rights being taken away, fear and/or fury at "Big Brother watching you."
Asking this on ATS is like asking if anyone here thinks that the Government is their friend.

One of the reasons there are probably this new 'indigo type' on this planet, is to spread their emotions, and try get everyone else to become 'intune' with whats good for the people and the planet (sorry if it sounds a bit cheesy - but cant really put it any other way) - so more and more people will start thinking along the same lines I think......

About 70% people dont give a cr*p. (They are living in their little house with the picket fence and the 9-5 job) It SHOULD be part of the human condition. But alas its not.

Have had psychic experiences, such as premonitions, seeing angels or ghosts, out of body experiences, hearing voices.
Do you too want to believe that there is something beyond what you can physically sense? If you believe strong enough you can even make them true!

agreed.

I have static in my hair - but that doesnt mean I can make a street light go out, no.

May have awareness of other dimensions and parallel realities.
When you sleep do you dream? When you are bored do you dream? Even dogs dream, so does every human.

Whos to say that dreams are parallel universes. Thats a very big assertion to make. Are you the fountain of all knowledge?

Sexually are very expressive and inventive OR may reject sexuality in boredom or with intention of achieving higher spiritual connection. May explore alternative types of sexuality.
Again, you may or may not be this way...but either way you are an indigo? Come on!

Again - one of the many qualities that COMBINE to be an indigo....C_O_M_B_I_N_E!!!!

True alot of people seek meaning by going to church - but alot go out of tradition/ fear of not being forgiven - the threat of burning in hell, family obligations etc. I wonder what the real percentage is of people truly seeking a connection that they feel is required.....interesting....

So is everything else in nature, people included!

cant argue this point.

I don't mean to be derisive or snide, and I would like to apologize in advance if my answers have seemed as such.

no problem. you are just expressing you opinion.

I do agree that no one needs to take a quiz to know they are an indigo - but there are people out there that just feel VERY VERY different to everyone else around them. And it helps that there is a place you can go to find out that there ARE others that are JUST LIKE (not a little like) JUSSSSSTTT like you, and it just so happens that they plastered a name on this type - Indigos.

f this quiz is somehow representative of "Indigos" then I would be led to believe that Indigos are no different than any one else on this planet, even in their need to differentiate themselves by giving themselves a title that others do not.

Its not a need to differentiate, its a question as to WHY we are different - thats what indigos have.

So, does that mean I'm an Indigo?

I highly doubt it.

I suppose it is a side-effect of having a Bicameral Mind that makes humans want to think of Us and Them or Black and White or Indigo and Vanilla, when in actuality we are all just human.

We are just all human - but OH so varied. And guess what there ARE groups that have the same variants!!! How awsome!

True that you dont have to try make your self feel better by trying to squeeze into a group you just dont fit in - you either are or arent of that group. If you arent it doesnt mean you are a lesser person HELL NO! Agreed!

The greatest crimes of humanity have occurred because people consider themselves different than their fellow human beings. This leads to delusions of separateness and of greatness, of entitlement, and of superiority, all of which inevitably lead to causing harm unto others.

Indigos are the LAST people on this planet to think themselves superior. It is NOT a charateristic of an indigo. If you think you could be an indigo, and you suddenly feel a sense of being special and superior - you have just declassified yourself as one....

This comes naturally to an indigo...no need to preech.

Wouldn't, therefore, a truly enlightened group of people say "I am human, no more and no less, just like each and every one else"?

You assume that by labelling a group - it automatically becomes superior. Indigos don't share this assumption.
