Muslims believe that the Moon has been Split in half.

A Picture from NASA:
2002 October 29

Explanation: What could cause a long indentation on the Moon? First discovered over 200 years ago with a small telescope, rilles (rhymes with pills) appear all over the Moon. Three types of rilles are now recognized: sinuous rilles, which have many meandering curves, arcuate rilles which form sweeping arcs, and straight rilles, like Ariadaeus Rille pictured above. Long rilles such as Ariadaeus Rille extend for hundreds of kilometers. Sinuous rilles are now thought to be remnants of ancient lava flows, but the origins of arcuate and linear rilles are still a topic of research. The above linear rille was photographed by the Apollo 10 crew in 1969 during their historic approach to only 14-kilometers above the lunar surface. Two months later, Apollo 11, incorporating much knowledge gained from Apollo 10, landed on the Moon.

Muslims believe that the last prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed the miracle of splitting the Moon. He cracked/split the Moon in two halves by pointing his finger at it than joined/wielded it back using his finger.

But now its being proven with latest pictures from NASA of the Moon that it has been split and joined back together. It shows the two halves combined.

I believe that about as much as I believe that Jesus turned water into wine or walked on water. Science and Religion are two separate things that should not be used together.

Perhaps the moon has been split in half did Muhammad (peace be upon him) do it? No. Was he able to point it out? Perhaps. It is an interesting picture and one could come to the assumption that it is a complete split. But if that were the case the moon would have started breaking up and we would at least have a nice cool ring around the earth.

The earth has many cracks in it's crust just as depicted on the moon. This is probably due to when the moon solidified and cooled the gravity from the earth caused stress fractures to occur on the surface of the moon.

The Hour has approached, and the moon split. But whenever they see a sign, they turn away and say, ‘This is evident magic.’ (54:1-2)

Does that not refer to the last days? Also the moon split could be many things, it is not detailed enough to truly know what he meant. Asalam Aleikum.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: "The people of Mecca asked Allah's Apostle to show them a miracle. So he showed them the moon split in two halves between which they saw the Hiram' mountain. (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Merits of the Helpers in Madinah (Ansaar), Volume 5, Book 58, Number 208)"

Narrated 'Abdullah: "The moon was split ( into two pieces ) while we were with the Prophet in Mina. He said, "Be witnesses." Then a Piece of the moon went towards the mountain. (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Merits of the Helpers in Madinah (Ansaar), Volume 5, Book 58, Number 209)"

Narrated Abdullah bin Masud: "During the lifetime of the Prophet the moon was split into two parts and on that the Prophet said, 'Bear witness (to thus).' (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Virtues and Merits of the Prophet (pbuh) and his Companions, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 830)"

"This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Abdullah b. Mas'ud (who said): We were along with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) at Mina, that moon was split up into two. One of its parts was behind the mountain and the other one was on this side of the mountain. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to us: Bear witness to this. (Translation of Sahih Muslim, The Book Giving Description of the Day of Judgement, Paradise and Hell (Kitab Sifat Al-Qiyamah wa'l Janna wa'n-Nar), Book 039, Number 6725)"

Plese stop now!!! This is just plain ridiculous...
Religion has no place in the modern world, except in the minds of brain washed fools(Americans+muslims).
Using common sense and logic you'd understand "magic" just doesn't exist

Calling americans and muslims brainwashed fools isn't very respectable or nice, maybe you should take a look at yourself before you judge people.

So, some ancients saw the half moon one one side and a star or planet on the other, and so the ' moon was split ', right? unreal. literal translation of ancient words into the wrong meaning takes place all the time. The rilles are explained by the electric universe theory, which posits that huge electrical arcs have taken place over the millenium and account for mant rounded craters, the ones with flat and curved insides, as well as the hexagonal shapes seen on planets and asteroids.

Plasma technology has shown that many of the things we thought were one thing were actually another...and so on. Sorry, but Mo didn't split anything but a banana and put ice cream on it!

Well it’s not about the matter of believing or not.

It’s just the fact that the event was noticed 1400 years ago and today the pictures we see proves it.

How far does this crack extend? Across the entire surface? Of course you cant really answer that as we have no pictures of the dark side to confirm this.

All that picture proves is that there is a line in the moon. I dont see a sign up there saying "Mohamed split the moon here" with an arrow pointing to the moon.

What we have here, is a line in the moon, and a religious person connecting his dogma to it.

This isnt proof my mulsim friend.

I personally think its across entire surface. But only more pictures and vids taken of Moon in future can tell us.

Its not just a ‘line’. Only more research in future can tell us how far it extends to and how large it is.

Like I said before you can believe what you want. I am just tryna stick out the fact that it was Seen 1400 years ago and this picture shows some similarities.

I have read so many times about NASA "touching up" their photos. I cannot prove it but I just find it hard to believe everything they tell us or show us.

Its fine to point out such things, its interesting. But I just dont see the need to jump to such conclusions when we lack most of the picture.

I do have a question for you, if the moon was split in half 1400 years ago and the people with Mo (I dont use the term to be offensive, I just dont know how to spell his name fully) saw it, why was it reported by no one else around the world?

Really wondering why this thread is posted in the science forum - tons of religous dogma and no proof.

Muslims believe anything, they have got to be the easiest religion to brainwash. They also believe that blowing themselves up grants them access to heaven.

So no I don't believe Muhammed split the moon in half
