Well, guess what? I support the war.

I think in 5-20 years time, you wont support the war, and you will see the truth of what is REALLY happening, and why you were there in the first place, your being used, and you don't even know what for.

This is horrific, half of them are children.

I agree, it is horrific.

The reporting that goes on nowadays - and the number of people who are willing to believe in anything - is just flat out horrific.

All credible sources list numbers much closer to 88,000. Which is significantly lower than 1,000,000.

Meat.

And why were they trying to kill you Jericho?
Maybe because you were rolling through his town on a tank?
Or maybe because his wife or children were killed just that morning by american soliders?

Or do you think he woke up, kissed his wife good bye and went
'' yep, im gunna kill dem americans cause it feels goooooooooooood ''

Well that depends on the exact situation, for example bombing a neighbourhood to kill a couple of extrimist leaders, but also killing innocent civillians around the area is murder,(cheap murder)

No, thats collateral damage

LOL it doesn't matter what you call it, if they knew civillains were in the area, if they knew they probably will die, then it is murder! you can call it whatever you want, its still murder.

Given this new figure, the four years of US occupation already killed four times more people than Saddam managed to polish off in 25 years!

there are some extremely graphic photos out there of people after bomb strikes and or gunfire over there...it looks so unreal- they arent easy to look at...such a shame that after 1 million people died- people just can't stop the fighting...but its extremely sad to see...its even sadder that children are caught in the middle of all this.

the only thing preventing humanity from evolving is humanity.

Left wing Euro vomit! strong words comeing from an (assumption) American, who country failed to learn anything but military lessons from two world wars, which devestated europe! Europe strives for peace through dialouge military intervention is the last option, and im not saying the u.s is evil or anything like that before you start, just that Europe learnt the hard way that this is not the road to go down!

Sadly, this is just one of the many ways to reduce the worlds population, both here and abroad.

The figures are meaningless since they are based on guesswork.

They extrapolate data from 1997 (which guesstimates population from households DUH) and then state that 1.03M died since 2003. Hmmm what about the mass graves that have been discovered filled with people killed by Saddam Hussein prior to 2003. In other words how many thousands or millions died between 1997 and 2003 at the hands of that dictator?

For example if:

800,000 died bewteen 1997 and 2003 and 230,000 died between 2003 and 2007 then

130,000 per year killed by Saddam Hussein
60,000 per killed "due to the invasion"

Hmmmm. Bring back Saddam Hussein ?

You see you need FULL FACTS before coming to any conclusions. The above in no way vindicates Bush for his decision to invade but simply calls on all you out there in ASTNN land to be a bit smarter and not jump in there guns blazing.

If Saddam had been toppled internally there would currently be civil war in Iraq and the number of deaths would be far higher than they are at present.

Iraq is a no win situation as far as innocent people losing their lives:

Choice A : Saddam Hussein - bad
Choice B : Civil war - bad
Choice C : As at present - bad

The problem with people like you and attitudes like yours is that the real terrorists are laughing all the way to the bank, the scum you support and defend should be in jail or worse, they are evil people, what does if feel like to support evil principles. I'm sick of excuse makers like you, I'm sick of how you always look for some kind of obscene justification for your country's actions. I'm sick of having to read your condoning crap.

Some comments on here make me sick, regardless of how high or low the death rate actually is, not a single person should have died. This "war" should have never happened.

To everyone posting along the lines of the insurgents deserve it etc..put yourself in their shoes.

You live happily in your country, then one day another country decide to come and invade because your leader a few years ago used weapons that this said country supplied to bomb some people. (Which you agree shouldnt have happened, but not every civilian can be held responsible for their leaders actions) This invading country cuts off your water, electricity, television and internet. They stop your medical supplies and disrupt all food supplies. They then proceed to bomb the living # out of your towns and cities, they kill members of your family and friends. And what have you done wrong? Nothing! You were happily going about your life. So like any normal person you pick up a rifle and go do what you can to the people who destroyed everything you loved and lived for.

To everyone in the western world watching this on TV is makes you an insurgent or a terrorist, to me it just makes you a normal human being who got # on for nothing and decided to go and do something about it. I hope my country never gets invaded cos you can be damn sure i'll take up arms and blow the crap out of anyone who tries to take over this country.

The US says these people are INSURGENTS ; the Iraqi`s call them FREEDOM FIGHTERS , 1 mans enemy is another mans martyr - and because of the US listening to Israel about handling a post invasion population - 2008 is the mess they are in now.

The war never ended - the US might have declared `major operations are over` but i think that someone forget to mention that to the enemy - who are now (ala VC) fighting a Guerilla War - and its working for them.

Iraq is a meat grinder - yes `only` 4000 US troops might have died - but whats the real figure on wounded? suicides? desertions?

war isn`t nice - many years have passed since `honour` `chiverly` were the watchwords - now its all about missions , objectives and collateral damage.

But the moment you drop a 1 ton bomb on a house and blow up 6 houses - targetting 1 person - you`ll turn 30 against you , and thats what we have now.

Good Game USA - Israel lost in Gaza becuase they don`t know how to deal with anything other than force - and the USA will eventually get pushed out of iraq , when theres no more money and troops left and that `million` figure will be freedom fighters.

USA will pay for eveything ultimately. It does not matter how many people died while Saddam was in power, what USA did is still imoral and illegal.

If this world was just and moral, USA would have beed excluded from UN, sanctioned and excluded from the international community. But this is already happening. New members will join UN with veto powers, the US dollar is collapsing, etc.

Slowly USA will feel what Iraqies feel today.
