Here are a few things to look for that I don't think have been mentioned concerning sniffing out CGI videos.
1. Motion matching - Most 3d Software can motion track a 3D object agains a real life video. There are weakness to this method, however a frame by
frame look will reveal (in most cases) the UFO not moving in the right direction as the view frame. Some artists like myself, will actually move
the UFO frame by frame against the background. This type of video takes longer to create but is harder to distinguish.
2. a large portion of UFO videos consist of a still photo wiht a UFO overlaid on top and a camera shake effect keyframed (or added) afterward. These
are the videos where you will not see any tracking problems as the UFO IS part of the photo frame. Concerning UFO vids of this nature, you will
notice five VERY common traits.
TRAIT A: Zooming into the UFO - Zooms can give away a fake UFO video instantly, THe Hiait Video and the Dominican follow up video's revealed this
mistake. It's not just the palm trees that everyone talks about that gave this video away. When the UFO is OFFCENTER the view frame, the artist will
tend to Zoom in, while equally proportionatly panning to center the UFO. As you know, the only people who are VERY good at doing this, are news camera
men, or sports cameramen. Usually a ZOom only happens once the target is Centered.
TRAIT B: Zooming back out - Keyframing is a very tedious process, one that can seperate an amatuer from a Pro VERY easily. typically in these
videos, you will notice the 'camera' zooming in, then once it reaches it's zoom level, it will zoom right back out, without pausing. This is in a
lot of videos you will see. What artists are supposed to do, is allow the zoom to remain the same for a second or two before keframing in the next
zoom target. This horrible effect can be seen in many movies, including 'Cloverfield'. I'm amazed they allow this to go unchecked.
TRAIT C: Panning - Typically and very often, the target UFO will enter the video frame to the side. The 'camera' is unable to center the UFO in the
frame because it actually is on the edge of the Pciture frame, (refer to the pictures I posted to see the video frame0, So you will see the 'camera'
pan as much as it can towards the UFO..then the UFO will slowly come to the center of the screen. ALSO the UFO will also tend to exit off to the left
or right of the screen, as if the cameraman can't quite turn the camera anylonger.Watch my fake UFO video (at the top of the thread) to see the
mothership slowly entering center frame. VERY Common mistake to make.
TRAIT D : Panning again - Camera shake is usually an advanced method used to simuate a handheld camera. However, MOST vid makers will just keyframe
in movements of the reference frame. Similar to making a square with you fingers..placing it up against your monitor and moving it from left to
right.... that is your 'camera'. The mistake lies in the method used in the keyframing. As I said concerning the 'zooming back out' Trait. When
the 'camera' moves to the left...it will instantly pan to the next pan target...then to the next..and next. The Domincian Republic video shows this
trait throughout. Forget the palm trees! THIS is what gave it away, and many other vids. When I saw this video, I instantly KNEW it was viewpoint
keyframing. Again, an experienced artist will space the pan targets for a second or two to make it look more real. Most do not. Look for this
mistake.
TRAIT E: VERY COMMON - the expert sports cameraman video, where 'cameraman' zooms into the UFO and keeps it relatively centered, dispite the fact
that the UFO is darting around. The ITALIAN AIRFORCE VIDEO revealed this weakness. I knew it was fake the first time it was posted.
