Have you seen my Doppleganger?

What would YOU do if you ran into your doppleganger? Wouldn't it just freak you the hell out?

Personally I am constantly on the outlook for my doppleganger. I would love to find my doppleganger. God, I love the word doppleganger.

For those of you who don't know, this is a Doppleganger

According to that, in some cultures it is a bad omen or an omen of death (though I guess that would fit under the "bad omen" category).

Imagine that. Knowing that there is someone out there whose very existence depends on them not meeting you. And vice versa.

Are twins just one anothers dopplegangers? If I look at a twins brother, am I effectively looking at his doppleganger? I'm not sure if the other twin would appreciate that. And are those twins in any greater risk of dying because of how often they see their dopplegangers?

I bet they played with their dopplegangers a lot as kids, surely this would greatly increase their risk of death? Because of the bad omen and all...

All I know is that if I ever found my doppleganger, I would gladly play with it, all day. Maybe my mate could bring his over and we could play with eachothers dopplegangers? Wouldn't life be sweet?

So in conclusion: If you had your very own doppleganger in your sights, what would you do?

When I was going to college, I had several people tell me that they ran into me at school at some point. They said they would walk up and start talking to me, just the usual chit chat ya know, only to realize that it wasn't me. It happened a few times in one year and these were people that knew me fairly well and would talk to me in person almost daily.

It was not a large school either.

I thought it was really weird and I always wanted to meet this guy. I never saw him though.

Did you happen to get ill or be harmed in any way after they told you that? Lucky you didn't see him, you may be dead! Thank your lucky, doppleganger, stars.

Nope, never got sick. No adverse effects. Unless of course I did die.... and this is all in my head???!

I've thought about the doppleganger thing on a number of occasions.
I have also been told that I have a twin living in the western U.S. I can honestly say that it would freak me out to see my doppleganger.

I always wondered what I would do if I found out my doppleganger had everything I always wanted and got everything I never did. Would it be wrong to kill your doppleganger to take his place so you could have the life you always wanted??

Considering the supernatural aspect of a doppleganger, I would think that it isn't a human being, so someone who shared your mother's womb could not be a doppleganger. I would expect it to be an evil spirit or wraith or something like that. It sounds similar to meeting one's self in time travel- the myth that you would cause a rift in the time/space continuome (sp?).

I think if i met my doppleganger i would discuss with him where hes at in my..er..his life and in return discuss where im at in my life. I would then analyze both of our situations and if i think us switching around would work i would propose to him a switch. Maybe for just a week and then if he liked my life and i like his we could discuss an extension, possibly eternity.

If i didn't like where he was at in his life and he didn't like where i was at in mine and a switch was out of the question i would invite him over for some cold beers. I hope my doppleganger likes beer.

This is gonna sound obscure but my Dad told me something about dopplegangers being more common in nortehrn europe like Norway etc?

Can anyone fill me in?

Hmmm, for some reason I don't find that so unbelievable. I wouldn't be surprised to find lots of dopplegangers all around Europe.

Also, if you were on the hunt for dopplegangers then I imagine San Fransisco would be a good place to get your hands on some too.

My significant other at the time met my "twin" or what ever you choose to name it.
He encountered her on an other continent then we then lived on.
She had my features, was born in the same city, was my age, and when he found out she also had my first name he declined from further contact.
That was too odd.
We were both sailors and traveled around the world so it wasn't unusual for us to run into "odd" people.

I would have liked to meet this person. I would like to "see" myself.
Intimidating, perhaps, invigorating, yes.

Maybe this is because A lot of northern europeans look similar. You know, those tall guys with blonde hair. hehehe

if i met my double id sit down and have a long talk with him to see how alike besides physical features we realy are you know likes, dislikes, faith, belifes etc .

I had a very similar experience. Few of my friends told me that they ran into me in NYC subway.. They said that they greeted me but I just looked in their way and never answered. The weird thing is that this guy had an ear and his eyebrow pierced just like me. I never met him though.

I had a freaky experience a few years ago (I'd not given it a thought for ages, until I read your thread). I really can't say if it was my 'doppellganger' or not though.

I live in North Yorkshire but I have family still living in Staffordshire (Midlands). I don't drive ( I know ... but that's not the freaky bit) . Anyhoo ! I was on a train going to visit them and there was a girl ... who looked identical to the way I looked when I was in my 20's. That in itself was bizarre but the fact that she had a baby with her that looked like my daughter had looked as a baby was very difficult for my brain to compute.

It was like watching a holographic film of myself at her age ... don't know how else to explain it !!! she even handled the baby the way I had.

I couldn't take my eyes of her ... but somewhere down the line (pun intended), I must have taken my eyes off her because when I next looked she and the baby were gone ... didn't see anything of them for the rest of the journey.

I should probably add that the train had not stopped at any stations but she could have just moved ... probably wanted to escape the crazy lady who kept staring at her And there was me thinking I had been discreet.

So that's my account, still don't know what it was about or how/why it happened.

I've been in close contact with the spiritual world for a long time. This could have been a good thing for me, except I had difficulties relating to others while growing up, resulting in drug abuse (marihuana) to calm myself and because I just didn't want to feel much, quite miserable.

When I grew up I had lots of very friendly, good and supportive spirits that would help me get through the miserable part of my life, but I couldn't take it, used drugs and eventually more and more malicious spirits entered my existence. I continued to close myself off, avoiding contact with others and decided to delve into religion and philosophy, actually in retrospect it were the malicious ghosts that influenced me to do so, "I" didn't like to learn about it but they did, which is very difficult in the beyond. When I realized what was happening around me it was too late. That was when the spirits around me wanted me to go teach or share the information I and the spirits had gathered so others could learn and become more happy. But I refused to do so (for example, many wanted me to go to a monastery), which lead to a lot of confusion, the spirits actually thought "I" had died and some other spirit had taken over which was a spirit that was made by other spirits into an exact replica of myself.

So there is another "me" in the spirit world which harasses a lot of entities, constantly asking questions and then moving on to the next entity leaving me to deal with the invoked entity, who are usually very upset that "I" disturbed them (while in fact it was my dopple ganger and his merry band...). After a lot of things happened a group of spirits made all the other spirits go away, including the many dopplegangers (spirits posing as "me") but they consider my body as unoccupied and believe they are controlling the movement and actions while they also believe that which they regard as "me" has moved on long ago. Some even believe the original "me" was actually moved out of the physical body at age 5 for a larger scheme which I'm learning about more everyday.

It's kind of like a freak show for myself, seeing a movie with all kinds of sound effects and visuals where my doppleganger usually first contacts deceased spirits and then makes all kinds of obscene gestures, rude speech etc. leaving me to deal with the upset spirits. Luckily they can't touch me either or do anything at all because they mistake me for a spirit, none of it is real (until my physical body dies and "I" move on, I don't think I'll like it very much when I meet the spirits in person who will confuse me with my doppleganger, on the other hand I do know my way in the beyond now). Sometimes I have interesting contacts tough with interesting spirits but it's not like it actually has any meaning, except that "I" can't really enjoy my earthly life. When "I" communicate with other spirits, the other spirit doesn't really see "me" or is aware it is communicating with a living person because there is some spirit in front of me that claims it is talking. Tough difficult I just accept that because I can learn a lot. All in all a doppleganger is a bad omen because if "I" mistake myself for the doppleganger, I actually commit mental suicide and the doppleganger and kindred spirits takeover.

On a sidenote, the whole scenario/set of beliefs revolving around lower/higher selves is simply a way for another spirit to communicate with a living person who (eventually) mistakes the spirit for his own spirit, eventually leading to the higher self "eating" the lower self (the basic "eat or be eaten" game). The lower self (living person) feels great because it has access to information (the allure of becoming a sage, a wise person many will like and respect) while the higher self (some other entity) knows it will eventually descend into a physical body.

A kind of doppleganger, the more a lower self communicates with such a higher self, the more they will look alike until even for friends and relatives the higher self that has takenover will not know the difference or be aware of the change. In many cases even the lower self doesn't realize it because it is simply opressed in a way it cannot know/understand (something the higher entity(ies) "left out"), but the entity(ies) that have takenover will know, afterall, they know what is going on while the unaware lower self (true identity) usually has no clue (which is why they started to learn about the lower/higher self, ironically). Eventually the lower self simply learns a worldview that allows another entity to descend into the body of the lower self while the lower self systematically gets wiped out until there is only 1 thing left (awareness) which the lower self can't do anything with. Kind of like locked in syndrome except the other entity (or more) live the life of the one locked in, while that original person is merely aware).

From reading part of this explanation I would assume that these appear as time travelers such as yourself traveling back in time to warn you of something. Similar to the movie White Noise.

Otherwise it could be an illusion sent by some supposedly evil force to scare the crap out of you.

Several years ago a neighbor found a fresh or recent corpse burried in her flower bed. When the police and or FBI came there, they said it looked excactly like me and asked if I had a twin. Another time I was sitting in the living room and my sister came in and said she just saw me in front of the house.
Otherwise these could be clones created by someone to replace us or cause confusion.

I'd like to interpret that... if this actually happened (I can't verify) it simply means some spirit influenced you that you didn't register your friends when you tried to look at them but your friends were not under that influence.

Lateron when you were in a different set of surroundings with different influences your friends were able to tell you that that moment actually happened without that particular spirit interfering. Where were you at the time and date? Do you remember correct or is the memory simply something else? I've had stranger things happening so I always save some paper (like a coupon, movie theatre ticket etc.) I'm at a point where I'm considering buying equipment (video/audio recording) to be 100% sure there's not "missing time" or false memories.

If you are afraid of something like this, try and keep physical evidence of where you where so you can compare that to what happened according to others.

I can't even imagine how much of a mind-fk that would have been. Didn't it freak you the hell out?? Did they find out who the corpse belonged to? That is some insane stuff, I'd really like to hear more.
