It's nice to prepare, but survival is a matter of will and skill with a dose of ingenuity. I'm gonna steal all your survival gear! (Just kidding)
Seriously though, I'm not going to find myself attached to my "safe place," or bogged down with stuff that I'll procure from the environment as
needed. Get a good book on survival skills and head for the hills when the time comes.
It's pretty certain that the time will come. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that the axis of the Earth shifted rapidly at some point in the
last 50,000 years or so. There is the physical evidence such as the tropical mammoths of Siberia and whatever they have found so far in Antarctica
that proves it was not always frozen. Then we have the plethora of cultural references to a time of great cataclysm. Historical anomalies of
technology such as ancient flying machines, batteries, light bulbs, etc. Then we have mythological references to places like Atlantis. I genuinely
believe that Antarctica may be Atlantis. There is even genetic evidence now. Sometime between 10-50 thousand years ago (I can't remember the exact
figure) the human species was reduced to a population of less than a thousand individuals. Yes, the survivors.
These survivors have been the "chosen ones" ever since. To this day they manipulate the course of civilization to ensure their survival again. You
can bet that these elites know where to run when it all goes down, and have the technology to survive it. The rest of us have just been renting all
along.
