I used to work in an office building where a known psychic also had her regular "day job" so to speak. She had gained respect from the local law
enforcement communities based upon a success rate of about 80% in helping them to solve tough cases with no leads, but did not ever seek out or desire
any publcity.
After a while we became friends and she shared some of her experiences with me, including that some of things she saw which caused her a great deal of
anxiety, and depression. I asked her then why would she ever continue to engage in this type of assistance if it caused her so much pain? She replied
because I have been given this gift, to see things that others don't, and I have accepted that as my responsibility to help whenever I can. I then
asked her how she could deal with things like murder cases, and she started crying, stating that
sometimes she can't, it's too graphic, too real, and when that happens she relays the information she has to that point, and then backs off for a
minimum of two weeks to help herself recover.
She then went on to explain the positive side of her gift, including helping friends, relatives, and associates be aware of physical symptons or
problems that they were not aware of, and in nearly every instance her assessment was correct; and that was something that developed in her abilities
after she had been assisting law enforcement for a while, so I am guessing that, as one poster mentioned here, that there is some basis to that
expression no pain no gain.
Anyways it was a fascinating look into the life of a psychic who was the real thing in my opinion.
