Cannibalism, could you or wouldn't you

The 2nd scenario is of The Donner Party that created a wagon train that was going to California. They got snowed in for months and resorted to cannibalism.

To answer Your ?- Absolutely. Especially if My children were involved. To result in that things would obviously have to be pretty bleak, but hells yeah. He/She would cease to be a person and would become My next meal. My husband and I have a running joke that if a situation ever arose He has My permission to eat Me. It sounds silly but You just never know.... Now, I've really ticked some people off by saying I'd eat My dog too.

I could, you do what you can to stay alive. Its human flesh not radiation. In extreme cases it is needed. Im amoral so im probably alot different then most people but it should be allowed in the extreme cases.

And in the situation we're discussing, people died of natural causes and then in order to survive, you and six other people would need to eat them. You may die if you don't, however if you eat them, you live. So are you saying that you'd rather have six people die rather than eat someone who's already dead?

And in all modern Cannabalism cases I've ever read, noone EVER murders someone else in order to eat them... they only eat people who are ALREADY dead. Therefore, I see no reason why people would be suspicious of eachother.

Oh I'm jumping in late but....

It's diggicult to imagine but I did my best, I think I could do it, but the body would have to be skinned first so it would resemble nothing than a carcass of meat (I hear human flesh tastes somewhat similar to pork). But only in extreme circumstances like that in the OP. I would look elsewhere until there was no chance and it was the last option. I just couldn't bring myself to eat anything that resembled a human.

i had a discussion going in survival where a lot of members ripped me for it...

it is what it is.

if there is no food around and myself or my family needs to eat, your ass is gonna get eaten.

Yep, I'd make sure that I was hangin' out with some really fat people and stuff. That way there would be plenty of food! Yeah! Now that's some good thinkin! Yep just think of the possibilities. Like you could be eatin' human burgers, or human steak. Or like you could make a really cool human stir fry. Yeah!
Wait! You could make alot of human jerkey too!

That was something brought up, even the people who protested eating thier fellow mates, ended up having a hay day when they meat was ready to eat.

there are reports of the Japaneese resorting to Cannibalism in WWII.
Well, after eating thier dead, they started eating thier prisoners.
Well, they cut chunks of meat and flesh from thier arms and legs, then threw them in a hole still alive. Apparantly, the meat doesn't spoil untill the human is dead, so they kept them alive, cut out meat, and threw them in a hole. Then the next morning, they'd cut the rest of the meat out (because it was still good) and just let them die that way.
Thats a whole different ball park right there.... what do people have to say about the morals there.

BTW i would never eat another person first thing on my mind is contamination fromsome disease they might have not that i'm paranoid but i'm not going to eat someone and then die 6 months later or down the road.

i'd much rather hold out untill the end and none better try to eat me or i'll wake up as a zombie and eat their brains lol

I'd try a drumstick!!! and then some ribs, with a side of wing and breast meat!!!!

I wouldn't ever eat another human being, survival or not. I just couldn't do it dude, ever.

Thanks. I study up on anything and everything, the more useless the better. My question is to those who say 'No way'- WHY? Is it a moral issue for You? Or is it just a disgusting thought to You? BTW- Those of You that have answered this thread- what are Your religious beliefs? Are christians more opposed to the idea of cannibalism than are atheists? If it were just Me I don't think I'd commit murder in order to eat someone for My survival. But, I would commit murder in order for My children to eat so that they could survive. Then I'd probably eat that person too, cuz well, they're already dead. It's a horrible thought but when You get down to it We're animals, higher on the evolution chart, but animals none the less and it's Our basic instinct to survive at all costs.

The rape of nanking was absolutely horrendous. Towns people started to fear for their lives because they'd take people from their homes in order to eat them. Sick.

I've thought about this question watching those documentaries on the plane that crashed in the alps, or the group that got caught in the states in colorado (I think) during the winter

I don't think I could eat someone I knew or cared about, even if they were already dead, but if it was someone I never met before, and I was 100% sure it was the only way I could survive, I'd at least try some.

lol that's really not the question. What happens when all the strangers are dead ? Do you eat other family members to survive ?

I believe, in any type of survival situation, human beings will do whatever they can to survive. Regardless if its just for a few hours or a few days. How would we know how long we are going to be in that particular situation, before we are rescued or find a way out.

Bugs, worms, grass, anything that seems edible and even other humans would become a source of food. All instincts will kick in when it comes right down to the wire.

So to answer the question. yes I would not hesitate to eat another human. Alive or dead, would make no difference. In a extreme situation our morals and teachings will be thrown out the door and I honestly can't see anyone actually starving to death when there is plenty of meat laying right beside you.

For the ones that say "I would never eat another human" Don't eat for three days and then come back to this question!
