Rush was never in danger of getting fired by Clear Channel. He had the owner on the show with him after they received the letter and he said it was
the most ridiculous thing he'd ever seen in all his years in the business. And the only people in the media Rush was ever under scrutiny from was a
portion of the incredibly left biased main stream media.
It's also a quite a stretch to say that Reed got any of the credit for this as well. He attempted to by using phrases like "we never thought" and
"we didn't know" to make it look as though this was all his idea. However, anyone with half a brain cell can see he and the other Dem's had
absolutely nothing to do with the SUCCESS their smear letter caused. Their letter was listed, marketed, and sold as a SMEAR letter.
If Harry Reed and the other 41 Dem's really want to make it seem as though they truly care about the cause here, then they would take Rush up on his
challenge and match the winning bid themselves. Of course none of them will do this though.
