I just came back from my lunch break and was listening to some of the Rush Limbaugh show on the radio.

You are probably familiar with attacks against Rush on his "phony soldiers" comment that were taken completely out of context. This prompted Harry Reed to waste time in Congress drafting a letter that was singed by Republicans to have Rush removed from the radio. Now Rush is striking back.

Rush has put the letter sent by Harry Reed up for auction on Ebay. He is going to donate everything made from the auction to the military. He has also called out Reed and the Republicans who signed the letter to step up and match the winning bid to the troops to show their alleged support of our military.

Here is some info and the auction...

Egad six days left and it's already gotten 72 bids and is up to 20grand. From my experience that pattern says it could easily break $100,000.

The sniping on this one will be a sight to behold.

Absolutely brilliant!

Rush always seems to get the last laugh doesn't he?

I love it!

edit:

nyk537, I think you meant Democrats signed it not Republicans. I don't recognize a single Republican name on that list. Sanders is a socialist.

Doubled to 40 grand in 12 hours. I take it back. I've got no clue where this is going. I would probably blow another funny fuse if it cleared a million.

Just the signatures alone are very valuable I'd think. I imagine a document signed by 41 senators would be pretty rare. Plus, Hillary is a favorite to become President, the first woman president as well as other pretty famous people like Ted Kennedy. Add to that the political backstory and the fact the money is going to charity, and I don't see much of a ceiling on how high the price could go with the right bidders.

Up to $42,100!

I unfortunately have a Senator on the list, and when the bidding is over, will urge her to match the bid.

If you have a Senator on the list, call or write and urge them to match the high bid and actually help the troops!

100% of the money will go to....

The Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation

Yes this is really an amazing thing!

I too urge you to contact the people who signed this bill and urge them to match the winning bid to support our troops.

Although I wouldn't count on that happening as the Dem's don't really support our troops. They just say they do.

I'm unlucky enough to have two of them!

But I will e-mail their offices asking if they'll do this

It's over $50,000 now! They were just talking about the auction on Hannity & Colmes.

Rush's website has the copy of the letter, and the video where he announced the auction.

He is also matching the proceeds from the auction, dollar for dollar.

If this follows normal eBay etiquette, most of the intended bidders have made their presence known to others by bidding early on. There will now be little activity as most sit and wait until the final hour. At which point there will come to pass a digital force so great God himself can not stop it.

We can only hope. This is really an amazing thing that really shows how much our country values our troops and our freedoms.

It's also going to raise a lot of money for our military and their families; and that's what's really important. I can only hope some of these Democrats will step up to the plate and match the winning bid for out military. My brain tells me there is no way they will, but my heart is hoping otherwise.

I like how he is getting the last laugh on this topic. Dems brought it on themselves by going after him and misinterpreting his words. Now up to an even 56,000 dollars.

Oh it is definitely coming back to bite them now. This is the type of thing the Dem's do that will HOPEFULLY cost them the White House in this election. The American people don't want a group that would rather waste time in Congress trying to condemn a radio talk show host than trying to help our troops! It's ludicrous and people are starting to see that.

Another positive result from this is that the charity, MC-LEF, is seeing an upsurge in donations from people who cannot afford to bid on the letter.

Absolutely! And this is hurting the Dem's even more as well. This is showing to them how much the American people really DO support the troops. This makes their entire defeat strategy look terrible.

I love it!!!

So....Rush puts up this auction so he can try to set forth damage control before the forth coming storm un-covered by Keith Olbermen last night about Rush's hit squad that threatens anyone who writes a bad report on him by using scare tactics that include getting names of family members and using and dirt that member might have to smear the writers name... Rush is a P.O.S. All this auction shows is how fast he can try to spin damage control....

Defeat stategy...Please come on...You people act as if these two political parties are different? Show me...Republicans and Democrats are NOT the same. I find it just stupid to think the one political party is sitting around hoping our troops are going to lose a war...Come on..And you would just fall in behind another party because they spin this non-sense...wait!!! fall in because a idiot on the radio spins this crap..Please! Wake up kool-aid boy. Anyone who wears a (R) or a (D) in our political system are all part of the same government. the one that I write my tax check to every quarter and I haven't seen my tax bill go down under either one of these douche bag political scammers.

The problem, tsloan, is that you have equated Rush Limbaugh with the Republican Party. While he may be Republican, it is his status as a private citizen that is being attacked by Dingy Harry and the other Dem's, and that is what makes it so detestable.
