jsobecky is absolutely right. Lumping Rush in with the other Republicans proves nothing. Neither does your name calling and finger pointing. The fact here is that he should be able to say whatever he wants and share whatever views he has on the radio. The Dem's are trying to prohibit free speech (free speech being anyone who disagrees with them) with their Fairness doctrine and other proposed bills.

The other point here is that the Democratic congress would rather waste time attacking a private citizen for his comments than trying to pass legislation to help our troops. They attack Rush under the guise of "supporting the troops" and then turn around and vote to cut those same troops funding.

God bless Rush for what he is doing here.

Almost a million...

Yep.

$851,000.00

I can guarantee you there won't be any Dem's matching THAT donation. Holy cow!

I don't think anyone envisioned the bid going THIS high!

over 2 million bucks now..

I wonder who it is?
amazing. An interesting way to handle the whole situation.
Hat's off to him for making lemonade.

It really is amazing. And to think all of this is going to support our troops and their families.

I can't wait to see how the Dem's attack this and belittle what he is doing here.

And he looked upon it and said, It Is Done.

$2.1 million.

If every dimwit that signed it matched it, that'd be an $88 million donation.

Think they'll do it at least for the tax deduction?

It's truly amazing. I just came back from my lunch break and was listening to Rush on the radio. He has matched the winning donation personally, and said so far he has not heard back from any of the signers.

So if nothing else it's a solid 4.2 million dollar donation to the military.

Another note though, Rush had a caller during the show call and say that there were many more people who would like to help but couldn't afford that bid. He suggested that Rush make 1,000 certified copies of the letter and sign them. Then sell those 1,000 copies for $1,000 dollars each. That way everyone else who wanted to help could, and it would raise another 1 million dollars to donate.

Rush thought it was a great idea, and just in the 10 minutes I was in the car, there were at least 15 more calls of people saying they would buy one as well. I have to admit, I think this a great idea and will take another step further in humiliating Harry Reed. I know I'm going to buy one if this goes ahead!

If you have a Senator on the list, now is the time to call to see if they are going to take Rush up on his offer.

I called Senator Landrieus office, and they know of no plans as of yet. I told them the people of Louisiana will be watching.

Then just for giggles, I called Senator Harry Reid's office and the phones where so busy...I stayed on hold for 15 minutes and couldn't get through!

If Senator Reid could get 41 Senators to smear a private citizen, I'm sure he could at least get them to pool together and raise a 2 million donation between them? $50,000 a piece?

Call them! It's for a great cause!

That’s what you would think. I’m sure none of them will match that donation and contribute; but I can assure you of one thing. I can almost guarantee you that somehow Harry Reid will try to cash in on this now. He will somehow try to spin this into a positive for HIM. In fact, in his press conference earlier today, Reed was claiming what a good job “WE” did to raise this money.

This man is the lowest form of human life.

As if any of them are any better...? Try to spin this...? Thats all both these parties have been doing is spinning... BOTH parties. As far as your comments on Rush and the Fairness doctrine...The fairness doctrine requires = time on the air it doesn't stop anyone from saying anything. The only people with a problem are conservative talk radio and Fox news. What is the worry if all of you think the left wing media is so bias? Cause under the fairness doctrine they would have to report from "another view"..Thats what all the conservatives want right..? "Both" views...Right? Or not?...Hummm...

100% totally against the 1st Amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

What part of the 1st Amendment DON't you understand?

Don't see anything relating to equal time anywhere in this amendment.

41 Senators writing to the boss of a private citizen wanting him fired, is a direct assault on this amendment.

Absolutely. Conservatives are always the first and strongest supporters of free speech.

We welcome discussion from all points of views. On your own dime. That's where we differ - liberals want to suck off of the success of Rush Limbaugh and others like him.

But when they have to stand on their own two feet, they fail miserably. I.e. Air America Radio.

Hey open your eyes....Where in the fairness doctrine does it say STOP freedom of speech...? Where??? Guess what Rush being a private citizen can also come under fire for his job? The fact he is a private citizen doesn't stop anyone from speaking out that they don't want him on the air any more? Where in the first amendment does it protect you being a private citizen from a statement from a senator? Where does is?

(Congress shall make no law)

The right about free speech...? Thats like saying the left is all about changing abortion laws? I'm sorry I don't fall into this conservative, liberial finger pointing session. The right can charge the left with as much twisted crap as the left can the right. As far as I can see I don't see any political view point standing up for anyone's free speech? When was the last time you stood up in a busy mall and shouted Bush planned 9/11? Or Clinton is going to kill our medical system? Try it..see if your "free speech" insite about conservatives coming to your rescue works?

Cool. This is how the exercise in Iraq should be funded. Let the people who are for it, shell out the dinero to do so. Good for them on putting their money where their mouths are!

I'm sure people do that all the time, and are free to do so with that same free speech. What do you think, that the secret shadow government will jump out from behind kiosks and arrest you for saying such blasphemy? Come on now!

The issue here is not free speech, because we all know Rush is free to say whatever he wants to on his radio show. The issue here is that this Congress continues to waste time working on meaningless letters trying to get private citizens fired for comments they don't agree with.

And no, you can't accuse Rush of spinning this. What is there to spin? The man was attacked for innocent comments he made on his own radio show. He has nothing to spin. The only thing he is doing is trying to expose how ridiculous this whole thing was, and make Reed and the Dem's look like fools while doing it.

If you asked me; it worked perfectly!

He was was given a dose of his own medicine he dishes out daily. And then his ass was getting fried by the media and clear channel and Rush tryed to do damage control with this auction. It didn't work perfectly. Cause Reid's old ass still got credit for it. I'm still waiting for the proof the fairness doc. states it will stop free speech? This isn't about the big bad government shadows jumping out and arresting anyone. It's about the left and right be it you if your a right voter or who ever voted for these two train wrecks using the free speech defense when they feel it fits their agenda.

Congess has wasted money for as long as I have been alive...just because the idiot party you don't vote for being in power doesn't make them any more worse or better than when the other morons who had control since 94'. You want congress to stop wasting money then maybe you should think about putting another political party in office? At lest you can use the excuse that you tried a different idea instead of falling in line along with all the other morons who finger point at each other...i.e. Republicans,Democrats,Conservative,Liberals....
