I never saw a Star Trek movie but if Kirk thinks there is a 'God' then he is not infinately wise. God is a concept for humans until they find out whats really out there.

Thanks for that, John. I'm sorry I wasn't more clear. I was kinda making fun of Kirk. In the movie the entity on the planet proclaimed himself God and wanted to use the Starship Enterprise to leave the planet. So Kirk finally figures out that maybe this bad guy isn't God after all and asks the question, "Why does God need a spaceship?" Then the entity throws a tantrum. Like I said, this is the worst Trek movie ever made.

But my point is that Kirk's question is in the same realm "Why does a soul need a Soul Machine?" Maybe I should have used the old feminist t-shirt slogan: "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle." So "a disincarnated soul needs a physical machine like a fish needs a bicycle."

Question still stands. :-)

No, most souls here on earth cannot yet take care of themselves, thats why they are here. They have to be nurtured, managed, helped like a little kids. Souls have to be taught lessons. They have to taught to exist without envy, hate or greed. Then when they learn to do that, then they can go out and play by themselves and other adults.

it sounds like a good idea, but just doesn't make a lot of sense to me, every time they insert the soul into someone else they have no prior knowledge of their previous life, so why do you think the fact of repetition is what makes the souls better? all this knowledge that you John Lear have gained this life, your soul will loose it all, or either wont remember any of it next life according to you he will start over, correct? it seems more like the soul just has to score a lucky body, smart guy in decent conditions to grow mentally and understand, life, couse your not gona tell me that everyone has the same conditions in life to learn and grow. The idea sure seems attractive, "be the best person you can be, that way you will leave sooner" lol. but it just doesn't add up right when i begin to critically think about it.
