I have never stopped worrying about the Russians.. The fundamentals of the old Soviet Union are still alive and well throughout the Russian people and the Government.
From the very first day of the "collapse" of the communist government, i was skeptical.
I didnt trust them in the 90's, i dont trust them now and I will not trust them anytime in the future..
The Russian Bear never went away, it was just in hibernation and winter is just about over for it.

KrOnOs - you really should try to stop worrying about the Russians, they just want a little respect from the White House.

It's all the other nutters we should be fearful of.

And anyway, the Russians are far too busy buying up our English football teams and bouncing off our airspace!

I've been watching that GCP button, i saw the red for quite a while too, most of the day it's been at yellow with some green.

You asked how this thread is constructive? I will tell you.

This thread opens a forum to discuss and scrutinize various pieces of information to check their credibility and to see if anything adds up. It provides a place for people to argue for and against these various pieces of information and draw conclusions appropriately.

There are and still remain FACTS that still make today interesting REGARDLESS of whether or not there is a major event. These FACTS ARE:

• There IS an Air Force stand down today
  
• The Air Force stand down is due to 6 nuclear warheads "accidentally" being flown over the US
  
• Top US officials have warned that Al Qaeda is poised to strike again citing either specific information or "gut feelings"
  
• There is heavy speculation that the US is looking to engage Iran militarily and all that is missing is the "spark" to go to war
  
• Various developments in the stock market - both foreign and domestic-have shown similar trends to the pre 911 markets
  
• The list goes on and on...
  

So don't sit there and tell me that all of this in inaccurate or that it is a bunch of hype over nothing. It may be nothing it may not.

In my opinion, this type of forum is constructive because it makes people look around and use their minds to look at things more critically.

I am not even sure why you waste your time on this site.

Truth...I'll address your last comment first: I spend time here because a) entertainment; b) believe it or not, some of the things on ATS are informative to a degree, and causes one to go "hmmm"

As far as your "constructive" list go...well, you just made the point of my post of which you replied.
1. USAF is standing down today
Respectfully sir, this is FACTUALLY incorrect! One major command, Air Combat Command," is standing down to conduct a safety review in regard to the much discussed incident between Minot and Barksdale AFBs. ALL alert aircraft and NORAD are all up and running. Most of the alert aircraft are operated by the Air National Guard and Reserves, and they are sir, not standiing down. If you are going to cite a storey Mr. "Truth", cite it correctly! All other USAF aircraft are operating as normal.

2. 6 nuclear warheads incident: See above. You are correct, that's why ACC is standing down today. SAFETY REVIEW! As an example of how this is not an exceptional event..if someone was to die in a workplace environment...the employer would immediately shut down all related processes, and OSHA comes in and further conducts a review." Same with this incident...this was a MAJOR incident to be sure. All ACC has done has stopped all operational processes to conduct a review of how this specific incident ocurred. Seems quite prudent IMHO.

3. Gut feelings...speaks for itself.

4. Speculation with regard to Iran...That's all it is at this point...heavy "SPECULATION" more inuendo and dot connecting.

5. Stock market moves: Once again sir, respectfully you are FACTUALLY incorrect. I assume you are speaking about the PUT Options made a few weeks ago that bet the market would go down dramatically. Please do some more research. Those options were ALL called about 10 days ago. This was nothing more than a complicated method to secure financing.

So, respectfully, I WILL sit here and tell you what is incorrect and false versus conjecture and pure speculation. None of which contributes one iota toward anything constructive. I welcome you to enter the reality-based world that most live in...its not such a bad place.

Take care....can't wait for the next date of despare, doom and gloom. Maybe it will happen by the time I need to buy another anniversary gift for my wife.

Let me just make a few things clear to you, "sir". I never presented these things as "fact". Nor did I argue their validity. This was information floating around and i put it together because I thought it was interesting.

The facts I listed above are facts. Your head, as your avatar suggests, is so deep in the sand, you didn;t even read what I wrote.

1. There IS FACTUALLY A STAND DOWN. Did I report it was nation wide or sweeping across the entire air force? NO. Don't put words in my mouth.

2. Glad we can agree that SOMETHING actually happened. The point of this was to illustrate that it is EXTREMELY odd that 6 nukes were loaded onto a plane "accidentally".

3. I said "gut feelings" because that is what the DIRECTOR OF HOMELAND SECURITY SAID. If it were my grandmother that said it it would not be news, but when the guy in charge of protecting us from terrorism says it it certainly does, in your words, make you "go hmmmm....".

4. In case you live in a cave, it's not a matter of IF with going to war with Iran, it is a matter of WHEN. You can not deny that.

5. Show me one FACT that ALL of the put options have been called. You can't! Some have, yes. Others still remain. To me it was a pertinent piece of info and it still may be. To call it false, as you have is a LITTLE premature.

You keep using the catchy little phrase, "Based in Reality". But to me you are a sham.

You totally ignored my point about why posts like these are constructive. Trying to put things together to see if they make sense IS CONSTRUCTIVE. By BUILDING and argument we are being CONSTRUCTIVE. If we are wrong, we move on but at least WE TRIED.

What you do is run around tearing people and ideas down which is DESTRUCTIVE, the opposite of constructive. What you do adds nothing. it has no value. Why? Because it is the easiest thing in th world to tell someone they are wrong.

While you were in Texas 6 years ago, 2 planes crashed into MY city. Since then, MY city has been used as a scapegoat and political punching bag for the spreading of fear for political gain.

It is a fact, that the story (as stated here and other places) concerning the USAF standdown order, as presented, is not correct... and it is a fact that its put out to simply start the kind of discussion which has taken place here. This is a little newspaper trick. "USAF ORDERS STANDOWN OF ALL FLIGHT OPERATIONS," or, "OUR COUNTY IS LEFT UNPROTECTED ON 9/14."

In that vein, the story is indeed FACTUALLY INCORRECT and serves nothing more than to create hysteria and paranoia...and in that light it is diss-information.

And that's my point...I don't mind these discussions (kind of enjoy them actually), as long as the premis is based in fact. Not the case with many of the stories you cite.

As for Iran, yep..war may happen. Then again, may not. Who knows. Pure speculation at the moment.

You keep referring to my post from several months back...in some ways your making the case for at least 7 of the 10 traits.

Well stated.....and that's what this is....tiring. I'm just pissed that the end of the world didn't happen...now I have to go tell my boss that I was only kidding when I told him I was quitting my job.

It is 3pm here on ther east coast of the US and nothing has happened yet....and nothing will today!!
Did you guys really think you could predict the date of the next "big event"? Surely not. There are alot of intelligent theories out there but to post a date to watch out on is ludacris. If it does happen i'll eat my shoe!

This thread predicted nothing, just raised an interesting point and something odd. That's all. No one said the world was going to end.

The amount of trolls in this thread has reached alarming levels. This was a really good thread in my opinion, and you should be very happy nothing happened. If you cant handle people trying to connect the dots and throwing ideas back and forth, what are you doing on this board?

If you want to read what happened after it happened, read a newspaper.

No one on here made a predicition. The OP was pointing out events that were very suspicious and giving everyone a heads up. I think this thread was a great idea and the nay sayers and the ones pooping on it have completely missed the point.

But

Some people seem to have ignorantly thought it meant something would happen (ignorant, because there was never any empirical evidence anything would happen).

It's a good example of how a few disparate facts or misinterpretations can easily lead to public hysteria and thus a salutary lesson on the principals of denying ignorance.

The more such threads appear, the more the boy cries wolf ...... well, you all know the story

Well once again the chicken littles are being proved wrong. It is the 14th and its past half over. If something was going to happen, knowing how the bushies work it would be done before the evening news and I am about to turn it on.
