I just wanted to add a few snippets to bring some validity to this prospect of Australia imprisoning Muslims.

Former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser has described one of the most notorious of the camps—Woomera, in the remote desert of South Australia—as a "hell-hole."

there is absolutely no validity to this prospect... Woomera Detention Facility is closed. Everyone was transferred to Baxter Detention Facility when that happened. Baxter located in SA Port Augusta is also next to be closed.

It sure is reminiscent of Nazi camps.

hmm not quite. There are no laboratories there to my knowledge. I have friends who work in Baxter. Oh and no gas chambers. The biggest issues that the AU Govt faced was the detention of children. That also has now been addressed.

Is it starting to look more realistic yet ???

No...

It is a detention facility. The illegal immigrants are not refugees and as such need to be placed somewhere. I suggest members look at other countries detention facilities or camps regarding illegal aliens for a comparison into humanitarian standards around the globe.

I LOVE this fallacy for an argument

Breaking the LAW is breaking the LAW even if it's bread to feed your children, it's still BREAKING THE LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course they do. They're all people like you and me and all they want is a better life, why should they be punished for that?

Because they broke the law? If I broke into your house and stole everything you owned to better my life, would you be ok with that?

Having said that, bad source, bad info. This is bunk.

Australia isn't as backwards as people may think, John Howard wont be in power after the elections in less than 2 months

This is making the presumption that the election goes ahead, he will probably declare some sort of "state of emergency" in an attempt to cling to power.
Getting rid of all muslims would be illogical from Howard's point of view as he requires something to flue his scare companies.

(Do you think they are going to let me into the Howard youth?

If only I could get free meals, free housing, free internet, free clothes, free doctors and nurses, and a free room with xbox, playstation, pool table and TV.
They even get bus trips into TAFE and the swimming pool.

What do those of you that are against separating people found attempting to sneak into another country, until they can be checked out for terrorist or criminal links suggest?

Let them into the general population with full access to benefits?

I urge all those out there with that mentality to put your money where your mouth is. Take your doors off the hinges. Let the unfortunate ones into the place where you live. They don't need to be checked out before being let in, do they.

If you've got a better idea than temporarily separating them from the general public until they are checked out, please tell us your suggestion.

My opinion would be impossible I think. But Ill say it anyway.

I think it might be good if we lived in a world where ALL countries would allow anyone to live there, without so much separation from other countries and people, the world would become a more mixed, peaceful and free place to live in.

With having the choice of any country to live in without problems, people wouldn't just go to one place, like The US and UK, they would go everywhere, and with everyone mixing, everyone will evolve and learn from each other.

If the world as a whole was a more free place, if we all realized that were all the same, Mexican, Japanese whatever, its just genetics, the place might be more peaceful.

But with such separation, its like were playing some real life war game, where countries are the teams, and were the players, it gets crazy. I mean just look at Israel and Palestine. Such a mess.

Saying all this I might be totally wrong. It is just something that popped up in my mind, a what if thought. Who knows.

What absolute rubbish you sprout. The election has to be held this year and why in God’s name would the Prime Minister create an emergency to cling to power!!!!

With this kind of thinking no wonder ‘show ponies’ like Rudd are leading the polls. As they say 'we' (count me out in this) get what we deserve...

Never let the truth get in the way of a 'good' (or totally without foundation) story. Hell would freeze over first before this would happen in this country. Law breakers will be dealt with and the rest will live in peace like everyone else in this country.

Mmmm i dont recall agreeing with a single thing Howard's said. Ever.

Hear, hear.

For the record, I think that Johnny Boy is the worst PM this country has seen. It all started with the GST debacle, then progressed onto the War on Terror, and further....

While I can't imagine the imprisonment of all the muslims residing in Australia - as it would be a logistical nightmare given the sheer size of out country.

That said, I wouldn't put it past out ego-manical Prime Minister to try something like this, especially if the 'West' were to go to war with Iran or Syria.

I mean, hell, they did it in the yers during WWII - I grew up less than 20KM from one of the concentration camps they used back then.

Would it enter your head that perhaps when you are at war (WW11) you would need to take action to protect both your citizens and also those who are from the country that you are at war with? Afterall we have proven time and again that emotion gets in the way of commonsense.

Would you also concede that perhaps we have a quality of life in this country that many others desire? Do you think that this happened by magic or would you consider that perhaps excellent financial management might have had something to do with this?

There is no denying the fact that Australia has treated humans like animals and held them in detention under deplorable conditions.

There is denying it. Try proving it.

My comments just go the post itself, not the poster or any of our freedom loving members here. This is another ploy by the Soviet politiburos Cold War posturing to sow discension among the allied powers and their respective populations so they can expand their control in the MiddlEast I am sure The FSB, actually it was a Russian Typo, it should have been correctly spelled FBS. (I leave it to your imagination). We all know how much the Russians love the muslims and the supreme examples they set in Afghanistan and Chechnya. I am certain Stalin is crying tears of joy for Putin (by the way ,in Spanish that means " little whore") . Every soccer field , or walmart parking lot ever built by western powers will be considered a concentration camp, exceeded only by the bodies dissidents buried underneath the Siberian Tundra. The Muslims are no fools, nor are the Allies, nor are we at ATS. Post that in Izvetsia and Pravda. Indeed Putin is taking two steps back for a leap foward, but will inevitably stumble fall in the grave he dug for us.

Original post?

Total crap.

That will NEVER happen in this country.

About the Howard haters?

John Howard has my respect. He can take himself seriously, and he can still laugh at himself (remembering when the Chaser followed him with that bus on his morning walk, that was funny as hell!)

"Run! Mr Howard! Ill hold them off!!"

but he also has my respect because he knows what has to be done and gets it done.

He knows Australia.

he also knows he is going to lose the next election.

Hell, after the stripper stunt IM going to vote for Kevin Rudd, my god that was funny
I say it shows he's 'in touch' with the common (wo)men.

But seriously, Howard knows he isnt going to win. So he is doing things now to make sure the changes he want will stay cemented in for as long as possible.

I think most people of the rest of the world would be surprised to know that we have a fairly large Mosque (im sorry if i spelt that wrong) within a few Km of Stadium Australia

We just try to look past race as much as possible, i guess.

I was quick to proclaim B/S on this one, but in the spirit of denying ignorance it can be feasable under certain cicumstances.

Ive always maintained that Rudd is more globally influenced than Howard ever will be. The ultimate power goes beyond our political parties and always will. So those arguments are irrelevant.

But.............
What if.........

Some of the speculation on ATS about the impending Iran/Israel war has merit.

This would cause an absolute WW3 scenario on top of the anti muslim propaganda we already have.

Having grown up in muslim areas of Sydney, I know that this would stir the pot with many of them. Most of them hate Australia and Australians as it is.

The latest Isreal/Lebannon war has gotten them into a tizz enough.

Maybe our government knows a strike an Iran is on the cards....

It was only 50 odd years ago we put Germans and Japanese in detention camps.

I really do hope this is not the case though as i know there are many good muslims in our community.

Yes, I concede the fact that a leader's first duty is to protect the Citizens of his country, I also concede that our quality of life in this country is perhaps one of the best in the world.

However, the imprisonment of one particular race or ethnicity - in today's 'modern' world - one that is not at a state of World War - would be unacceptable and to do so would bring worldwide condemnation.

There is no reason to protect our citizens. Australian Intelligence does not point to any immenent attack on our shores any time in the forseeable future and therefore does not warrant any action, especially of this magnitude.

If there were genuine concern about protecting Australian citizens from this government, I think it would have acted differently towards David Hicks and Schappelle Corby.

Perhaps you missed the point of my comment. A statement was made that we had forced imprisoned people before quoting WW11 which was correct. This was done for 2 reasons. 1) because we were at war with Japan at the time 2) to protect the Japanese in this country from the attack and abuse that may have ensured becaused they were who they were.

I agree that we should (and we will not) send Muslim's to concentration camps in this country.

I dont think that this story has merit at the moment but like the previous post said, there may be chance of it being implemented in the future if necessary. Muslims in this country have not been the 'ideal' group to assimilate into our society whereas many other of different ethnicities have not had the same problem.

The muslim youth in this nation play on that as does their leadership in growing the divide between muslims and non-muslims, and that does not help either.

I can tell you now, if anything were to happen overseas that would inflame the local muslims into anarchy and the like down here, the majority of the australian populace would dish out their own brand of justice before the police, army or any other federal agencies could implement this so called round up.

Aussies of all nationalities are pretty much a very thankful and patriot lot no matter where they come from, and if any one or any group starts to inflame the rest of society with these sort of actions, then we take care of our own our way.

If Islamic terrorist bombings against soft civilian targets such as grocery markets, shopping malls, restaurants, subways, etc. (God forbid) ever become regular occurrences in countries like Australia, the U.S., or Western Europe, I wouldn't be surprised if something like this did happen, coupled with mass deportation.
