Lyrics compliments of dgtempe

They say at night he purely cried
They say he wouldnt eat and only did partake of drinks
They say heaven itself would rumble at his crying...
How he suffered for her....
And even in death he kept calling her....

Ay ay ay ay ay..he sang
Ay ay ay ay ay.. he moaned..
Ay ay ay ay ay..he sang...
He could die for his love..

They said a sad [dove]
early in the morning would sing...
To the lonely house
with its doors open,
They swear that the [dove] is nothing more than her soul,
still waiting for her return,

Cucurrucucu Paloma, Cucurrucucu, dont cry....
Rocks dont know...what would they know about love?
Cucurrucucu Paloma please dont cry again...

This is a depressing song.

I once heard a DJ refer to it as the Lament of a Psychopath.

I have to agree with that.

"Vincent" by Don McLean. This one always makes me tear up. I am a huge fan of Van Gogh's work, and as someone who has struggled with depression, I understand some of what he might have been going through. The song really touches my soul. It's a really long thread, and I apologize for not reading all of it. If someone has posted these already, I am sorry, but I just wanted to share the lyrics:

Starry
starry night
paint your palette blue and grey

look out on a summer's day
with eyes that know the
darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills
sketch the trees and the daffodils

catch the breeze and the winter chills

in colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they did not know how

perhaps they'll listen now.

Starry
starry night
flaming flo'rs that brightly blaze

swirling clouds in violet haze reflect in
Vincent's eyes of China blue.
Colors changing hue
morning fields of amber grain

weathered faces lined in pain
are soothed beneath the artist's
loving hand.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you
but still your love was true

and when no hope was left in sight on that starry
starry night.
You took your life
as lovers often do;
But I could have told you
Vincent
this world was never
meant for one
as beautiful as you.

Starry
starry night
portraits hung in empty halls

frameless heads on nameless walls
with eyes
that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the stranger that you've met

the ragged men in ragged clothes

the silver thorn of bloody rose
lie crushed and broken
on the virgin snow.
And now I think I know what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity

how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they're not
list'ning still
perhaps they never will.

George Jones & Elvis Costello--"Stranger In The House"

"Stranger In The House"

This never was one of the great romances
But I thought you'd always have those young girl's eyes
But now they look in tired and bitter glances
At the ghost of a man who walks 'round in my disguise

I get the feeling that I don't belong here
But there's no welcome in the window anyway
And I look down for a number on my keychain
'Cause it feels more like a hotel everyday

There's a stranger in the house; nobody's seen his face
But everybody says he's taken my place
There's a stranger in the house no one will ever see
But everybody says he looks like me

And now you say you've got no expectations
But I know you also miss those carefree days
And for all the angry words that passed between us
You still don't understand me when I say

There's a stranger in the house; nobody's seen his face
But everybody says he's taken my place
There's a stranger in the house no one will ever see
But everybody says he looks like me

CREEP!- by Radiohead

When you were here before,
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel,
Your skin makes me cry

You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so #ing special

But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin' here?
I don't belong here

I don't care if it hurts,
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul

I want you to notice
when I'm not around
You're so #ing special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin' here?
I don't belong here, ohhhh, ohhhh

She's running out the door
She's running out
She run run run run...
run...

Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so #ing special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep,
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin' here?
I don't belong here

I don't belong here...

Patches, by Lee Dickie.
!!! GET Lee Dickie - P
Down by the river that flows by the coal atches ringtones !!! yards.
Stands wooden houses with shutters torn down
There lives a girl everybody calls Patches
Patches my darling of Old Shanty town

We plan to marry when June brought the summer
I couldn't wait to make Patches my bride
Now I don't see how that ever can happen
My folks say No, and my heart breaks inside

Patches oh what can I do
I swear I'll always love you
But a girl from that place would just bring me disgrace
So my folks won't let me love you

Each night I cry as I think of that shanty
And pretty Patches there watching the door
She dosn't know that I can't come to see her
Patches must think that I love her no more

I hear a neighbor tellin my father
He said a girl name of Patches was found
Floating face down in that dirty old river
That flows by the coal yards in Old Shanty Town

Patches oh what can I do
I swear I'll always love you
It may not be right But I'll join you tonight
Patches I'm coming to you

that moody blues song forever autumn is pretty sad. Has any one heard it in war of the worlds?
does the word oooooyyyaaaaa!!! strike fear into your hearts?

Love the album (especially the first instrumental). Forever autumn very depressing. Hated it.

I realise it's been mentioned before but my vote goes toward:

Terry Jacks - Seasons in the sun.
