Here's the image of the sun rising over the mountains. I took this just shortly after the sighting today.

I've got an interesting theory.

The airliner pilot put the landing gear up or turned so the sun wasn't glinting towards your location off his aircraft's fuselage.

Lighting conditions: Its just too easy. It could have been any sort of optical trick....

-a cropduster, sun glinting off the canopy surface?
-an aircraft landing light. Perhaps too far away to see the plane itself but close enough and pointed exactly your way?
-a novelty foil balloon, sun glinting off of it just right?

I live near an approach zone to an airport where the humidity is VERY high this time of year. I've seen many tricks of lights where it looked like something was hovering, then "vanished" (turns out the pilot just put his gear up!). I realize L.A. is dry heat but I still remember the tricks light can play in the AM or PM hours when I lived in Las Vegas.

I sound like those debunkers I hate, but IMHO I don't think there is much to see here.

Creewolf, Thanks for the input.

I can't rule out the plane theory myself... I have seen planes come in all the time. Many times I have seen them point directly at me from very far away lights blaring... I grab the camera and zoom up on it and watch it closely... Usually there is a lot of turbulence which causes them to appear as if they were bobbing up and down and moving erratically. I have also seen some so still that at a first glance they appear to not be moving but when zoomed upon you can see slight movement. I usually use the edges of my frame to see if something is moving from far away.

To me it's the stillness of this object and the way in which it departs that has me scratching my head... If it was a balloon I guess we could assume that the balloon was in some ones back yard, considering there might very well be homes in that area... mabey someone popped it at the moment I was recording it?
It's very possible. It's extremely hot today... The hottest day of the summer here if im not mistaken...and heat causes a lot of turbulence especially at lower altitudes right? I would expect that if it was a plane it would be moving or twitching to some extent and even if that movement were very slight? I think we would see that here.

You bring up some very important angles on this though! and anyone looking at this should consider them. Thanks!

Jag,
Looks like a vehicle sitting on the
opposing ridge turning off their
lights.

My honest opinion.

I was just about to say that also, its a car sitting on top of that ridge in the distance and it turns its lights off.

I don't think it is the sun reflection because the mountain is in the shade, and the sun was yet to rise above the other ridge.

You know your location
You know the location of the light

Take a bearing on the light source so something like 110°

Get a large scale map as large as you can get, draw a line from you 110°
see where it intersects that ridge over there, go for a nice drive in the mountains. Of course if there is no road there you are onto something.

P.S. you need a good pair of binoculars.

Ok here is one theory that could be what it was.... It could have been an actual

light of some sort that was on a photoelectric cell. When the sun was coming up

and it got just bright enough to flip the switch and turn off what ever light it was,

billboard or streetlight what have you. Because it was perfectly still, and

blinked out like an electric light would.

There is an object there that totally disapears in one frame. Here is an enhanced clip from the video. If the original footage was reviewed by a master video editor, I am sure the editor could find something in that next frame.

Here is a album of digital stills that show something there when it disapears. Someone should look at the raw data with advanced filters to prove there is an invisible object.

Its not much but its something.

I just realize something, the light is stationed on top of a mountain, similar to wastetime's theory... Could it just be a huge showlight (I doubt what it's called), but it produces something like this: static.flickr.com...

Could it just be that somebody was just doing a test run of that giant showlight, and the disappearance of the light was just merely some guy turning off that powerful showlight.

Images proved by dntwastetime, also shows a residue or ghost image of that mysterious light when it disappeared. Most powerful lights, usually burns a little before it goes out. So that could explain these images:
i216.photobucket.com...
i216.photobucket.com...

Sorry I suck at explaining, hopefully someone understand me and can interpret it for others.

Then my theory can be trashed: If jagman said the light wasn't stationary. And I couldn't explain some of the images, like this: i216.photobucket.com...

It just seem like the light completely disappeared w/o any residue.

Anyways, hey Jagman does your camera have like night-vision by any chance, anything that can see infrared. I remember I heard thats how some people can catch the UFO during their cloaking mode.

Good luck Jagman, hope you take more videos.

See what I get to thinking when I am not paying attention?

My son and I saw a UFO whilst viewing the meteor shower 2 nights ago............

Before shooting your mouth off, you really should do some research. I don't live in USA and I found that building in 5 mins

funny pyramid shape building

Location of Park Hyatt East of the 405. Which puts OP in Brentwood Heights or Crestwood Hills

Nice pic of Park hyatt
