Don't get me wrong. GnR were what was needed in a time that rock was dead. Their original stuff was GREAT. They should just NOT try to cover bands better than they are.

Well their first album was great.. the rest meh..

Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK

Megadeth - Anarchy in the UK (cover) 5/10 Megadeth is great but Dave always seem to need some fiber when he sings.

Yep 10/10 from me for Nazareth as well. I'm a huge fan, No Mean City is a belter of an album.

Btw intrepid, yes you do have to post the original, you also have to rate the previous cover and your own.
(you'd think the Mods around here would at least read the opening post
)

Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall, The Original

Korn - Another Brick in the Wall, The Cover. 9/10

I like this cover, given a good dose of KoRN attitude, still not as good as the original though.

[edit cause i was typing while Cug was posting. 6/10. Mainly coz i love the Pistols]

MC5 - Kick Out the Jams, The Original, imo one of the greatest rock 'n roll bands ever. There's a better video of this song somewhere but i cant find it, might be on Google vid. Way ahead of their time.

Rage Against The Machine - Kick Out The Jams, The Cover. 6/10

I love RATM but no one will ever do an MC5 song justice.

@ Cug, thanks MC5 are the BOMB, as my daughter would say.

Sorry Lita, 6/10. I would have given Voivod 8/10.

Pulp - Common People, The Original

William Shatner - Common People, The Cover. 8/10 cause i cant stop laughing, wonder if Joe Jackson knew what he was getting into, Ben Folds i can understand, he likes a good laugh.

Ritchie Valens - La Bamba Original

@ Cug, i agree, in fact i think i prefer the cover to the original 10/10.

Skyhooks - Women In Uniform (1978), R.I.P Shirl. Loved this band growing up.

Iron Maiden - Women in Uniform

I'm also a huge Maiden fan but they dont even come close with this cover imo. 5/10.

I'll give Maiden 8/10 I never heard the original before so Maiden sounds better.

He is something a little different from the last cover song I posted.

Gloria Jones - Tainted Love (1964) (just audio) original

Now the cover version, there are a ton of them to pick for this song, Soft Cell, and Manson's versions are probably the best known versions. But I'm going to go for the version the Coil did.

They took the song in a very different direction, It's an artistic reference to AIDS.

Banned from MTV for being too disturbing.
Featured in the The Museum of Modern Art.

Depressing as this video is, it gets a 10/10 from me.

Coil - Tainted Love (Cover)
