weird movie trailer (any hints?) Cloverfield

Not only does this "monster" and the "LOST monster" sound familiar, in the trailer the shots of the "monster" are of dark smoke! Now, I don't think they're related, but sort of cool nonetheless.

I wish it was Godzilla too, and for a moment I thought it was, but Paramount doesn't have the Godzilla rights.

Looks like we're going to have to wait until San Diego Comic Con to get any more info.

i dont understand why anyone would want this movie to be Godzilla. If its Godzilla then theres a 90% chance it will be total crap. Lets hope for a new fresh good movie, whether its a monster or aliens or terrorism.

Yes i remember that surviving egg.... but the movie was such total crap i was hoping the egg would never hatch!

let's just make a godzilla omelette out of that egg.

well with all the hype about this movie i really do hope its something original or something great but with a budget of 34 million i dont know what to expect usually movies with low budgets have great stories but everynow and then you get some garbage like kung pow

People, without a doubt in my brain(and no proof to back it up lol) IMO this has got to be the new installment of Godzilla. I knew it would be coming back out soon! You heard it here first!

aparently the movie begin with someone from the clean up crew finds the camera and begin to play it from the beguining so we know off the bat the monster was defeated but iguess it would be crazy to think not.

It will not be Godzilla. Paramount does not own the rights to Godzilla. This will be a brand new property that is not related (at least in the sense of something we have seen on film) to any other "monster" movie we've seen before.

No Voltron. No Rodan. No Gamera. No Godzilla. No Jet Jaguar. No Tranzor Z. No Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. None of that...

You are smack on with the hand helm part. The movie will be presented as an "after the fact" narrative. It will be told from camera footage from a person or persons that is discovered after the film.

This is the reason they can keep the budget so low. There won't be these spectacular visual shots like in ID4 or Men in Black...or Transformers for that matter. Most people have no idea just how expensive a regular film shoot, let along the film itself, is. By shooting this way they can cut about 50% off their budget alone.

At any rate, JJ will give the real deal at San Diego Comic Con this week. Unless Paramount managed a major Coup De Ta on the Godzilla rights (which they didn't) we should be pleasantly surprised.

IF the budget really is only $34 million then there is no way it is Godzilla or any CGI driven/special effects movie!

Lets just all keep our fingers crossed that we never have to see Godzilla on the screen again.

The "American" Zilla sucked. But Godzilla Final Wars was pretty freaking sweet. I wouldn't mind seeing a TOHO licensed Godzilla from scratch done by like Sam Rami, Luc Besson, or Bryan Singer.

And I mean a real Godzilla.

Word on the street is that it's biblical monster inspired apocalypse type romp dealing with the aftermath and a group of friends trying to survive and find out what the hell is going on but as with lost it'll be wide open for different intrepretation's by those who see it.

Meh i wouldn't take that as concrete truth though all everyone's got is speculation from the sites and trailer and photo clues hinting revaltions chapters at the moment and that slusho site is wtf crazy.

If your lazy well skip the first slusho site and go to the one it leads you to anyway:

4 of the actors are shown, as well as pictures of them from the trailer and other projects they've been in. In addition, there are concrete details of the film as well such as shooting permits and trade paper casting call descriptions.

Well.... JJ hadn't talked yet when I posted the above. He now has.

Quint at Aint It Cool says "Abrams made a joke on the panel saying, "Who here thinks it's called MONSTROUS?" (Cheers) "Well, it's not!" Then he unveiled the poster above [the one from Entertainment Weekly], minus the name. Those dirty sneaky bastards..."
