does anyone have any information on this?
i was watching the history channel one night, and they were speaking of a vampire society which caught my attention and interest naturally.
this seemed like the perfect place to post this thread.

Well for starters you watched a history channel special on it. Don't you have some info on the society you can post? Surely something that inspired this thread?

I love anything vampire so I eagerly await.

I'm interested in Vampires, too. I live a Goth lifestyle, which seemed
a natural progression from my punk rock background.

Anyway, check out DarkRealm

Pretty intense, in-your face site.

It's also slated as 18 and older, so I linked the entry page.

Enjoy,
Lex

Edit to add : That site was found Here.

Pretty much covers the occult bases.

Heard of the Masquerade?

Anyway sounds quite interesting, though I'm quite curious as to why it would be on the History Channel.
I remember watching one documentary on 'vampires', though they were more psychotic and delusional rather than supernatural...

I've traveled the goth scene for a bit, wouldn't call myself one, life's too entertaining to be emo all of the time. Great scene, However, I digress... I've known a few vampire "houses" in my time.

I admit to knowing past the surface, but vampirism is a very personal thing that is a lifestyle choice.

Vampires are Biologically, Homo-Sapiens. At night they become lacey-cape wearing froo-froos who dance in a semi circle at the same pace regardless of the song, to the tune of half-inspired 80's remixes, while holding a plastic goblet of cheap red wine in one hand, and a black clove cigarette in the other hand, held palm up, at an arms length 75 degree angle so as to not to burn people next to you, while they flick their ashes with abandon without the forethought, to do it away from your drink.

Actually, that's not an entirely fair assesment, lol.

Or look up my friend on Myspace, his name is Don Henrie and he is a vampire celebrity. He's a hell of a nice guy, and very subtle and quiet in most of his dealings.

Vampire'ish myth has been around for thousands of years. It's deeply rooted in many cultures. That's why.

Although Bram Stoker played a big role in its romantization(sp?) I know Vlad the Impaler and the Blood Countess were the basis for alot of the vampire stories.

I will have to post more info, but I know there is a disease that actually requires you to consume blood. In fact, doctors prescribed the consumption of blood (animal blood) as a treatment.

"Society of Vampires" is simply synonymous with "Group of Artsy Dorks".
If any of these frilly-shirt wearing, plasma-lapping Anne Rice worshipers ever came home to "something" hanging from their ceilings, and eyeing them hungrily, they would immediately evacuate their bowels.

And, I would bet that their would also be a plethora of "girlie screams" ensuing.

Seriously, boys and girls. They are not to be emulated.

For those who like vampire things - Read the Kim Harrison novels.
It's all fiction ... but really fun fiction. There are to be 9 books in the
series. I loved books 1-3. 4 was okay. 5 stunk (at least to me).

Anyways ... Kim Harrison. Check them out.

www.vampiretemple.com...

These people are deadly serious about the life style and that vampires are real. They even claim to have created the Vampire Bible...

The problem with this group and many like them is that they are left path groups and can lead to things that you may not want to be involved with. I am not saying that joining a group like that is a necessarily a bad thing (people can do whatever they want imo) but what I am saying is that if you do want to you should heavily research what your getting into and really question why you want to do it. Most people jump into stuff like this and take it light hearted then they get in over their heads....

If they're not psychic parasitic vampires then they are just dress up, still, it's bad to be in such an environment.

I am aware of the influence of 'vampiric' myths on most societies located around the world. However I meant it was strange that the History Channel would be playing a documentary on a vampiric society, as opposed to revealing vampire myths and legends etc.

The History Channel has done quite a few documentaries on the former (indeed most of the 'vampire' documentaries at least mention these two infamous figures). Also the romanticisation of 'vampires' was pretty common before Dracula's release (except they were depicted with wings and viewed as gentlemanly seducers...), however Dracula simply spread the notion of 'vampires' into the general view of the public.

I am aware of this disease and another (something about porphyr...) in which the sufferers are photosensitive, pale and gaunt creatures and, due to the practice of 'inbreeding' among European royal and aristocratic families, was actually quite common (hence the tales of vampiric nobility which, with the Blood Countess and the Impaler added, flesh's it out a great deal.

However I was mainly referring to those that, suffering from acute mental disorders, delusionally believe themselves to be vampires (much like sufferers of lycanthropy - the mental disease) and attack and drink the blood of ordinary folk.

Or an insane individual who believes themselves to be a vampire...

I would be all about being a vampire if they were actually real ( I am not talking about people in the gothic community, or people who are into bloodplay, or people with mental disorders that believe themselves to be one, I mean as in if all of the stories were true..), I imagine that after a few centuries I would be pretty impressive on guitar and bass, and my martial arts skills would be through the roof.Although feeding on humans would be a downside, I suppose that you could just be a vigilante vampire, and feed on the blood of people who are detrimental to society, you know politicians and other assorted criminals.

haha woooow and i thought no one would repost to this. thank all of you for reposting. ^_^
lets see. when i watched the history channel that night i didnt check what show it was. but i do remember it spoke about the type of ways vampires would gain their feed. there are some ppl who drink blood, some others who drink even energy off of other human beings. they said it would get rid of sexual tension, like a release of some strange kind.
very provocative indeed.
the energy drinking would be more of gaining a sense of power from weakening someone elses. weird but true.
they showed an x ray of both their skin, two women, and you could see the energy coming off the skin. no, it wasnt x rays....jeez..it was some kind of camera they used to take pictures of the skin, and you could see the energy coming off while the woman was draining the other woman of her energy. it was sooo creepy.
and yes i am too into the gothic shet, but really, who isnt? lol

See the ATS thread on Vampire Hunters:

"Vampires are the outcome of Homosexuality in combination with Tantrism between persons of the same Sex. It is an execrable monstrosity, a frightful abomination."

A few years ago I ran across a group called the Camerilla, they reportedly were a group of vampires. They held a conference up at the Stanley Hotel where I was working.

Really nice people altogether. No one had any problems at all with them.

Of course Vampires exist! Who do you think started the Bloodbank? They are tired of hunting us because we got all lazy and too easy so they gave us the decision to just donate to them.
