Typo in the link, here's one that works..

This is not totally unexpected, our "liberation" of Iraq has allowed the PKK to operate with great freedom against the Turks.

Which is one of the many reasons Bush Sr. (you know, the smart one) chose not to invade & occupy Iraq back in 1991.

and the pandemonium ensues....

Just when it can't get any darker in the ME.

I wonder if its just a 'testing ground' for future events, you know.. testing the water sort of speak.

It's being deemed a limited incursion and from what I could gather it was not sanctioned by Ankara.

More of a raid than an invasion. Something the Turks have done many times before the US led invasion.

It seems to me the US has no more international standing any more. Even the Turks are flatly ignoring direct US demands. Is this the beginning of the end for US hegemony?

Strikes me that the shelling from Iraq into Turkey could have been easily done by Iraqi insurgents intent on creating more problems.

This is either a U.N. ally beginning to help out with the mess in Iraq, or it is a neighbor who is sick and tired of all the noise coming from the house next door.

I personally think Turkey allowed this "raid" to happen to let everyone know its part of the picture still.

There is history to this.

I am extremely surprised. I haven't heard this on the news or anything!
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few days and what Turkey are planning to do.

Northen Iraq are the Kurds, and Turkey dosn't like the Kurds, hence the attack, even though it was instigated by rebels. Clearly the U.S. isn't going to do anything about Turkey in Northern Iraq, because we can't. Northern Iraq hasn't been much of a problem for the U.S., but I think the Kurds will retaliate against the Turkish.

This only makes the whole Iraq situation more sticky then ever. The U.S. will have to be VERY careful on what it will do/say to the Turkish, it may cause more problems if the administration dosn't do something smart.

Northern Iraq is the most successful part of that country.
The economy is booming like mad, plenty of investment too.

Your title is misleading.

It kinda implies innocent Kurds are just being indiscriminately hunted, while the actual article just says Kurdish guerrillas are being chased.

As of the evening news they were saying that there were Turkish troops in the province up against the Iraqi border but they had not crossed it and that the internet reports that they had were false.

I heard the very same thing however the AP is still reporting hundreds have crossed the borders so perhaps the AP is the one blowing this way out of proportion. Notice they have now changed it from thousands to hundreds
so Much for relying on the AP

I wonder who is supplying these guys with weaponry. Its not the Iranians because they are also attacking Iran, obviously not Syria because supposedly the Kurds blew up a train in Turkey headed for Syria with weapons supposedly from Iran onboard.

Iraqi Kurdish fighters (Peshmerga) are supplied and trained by the coalition. They did render assistance during the 2003 invasion. It was Kurds who were with John Simpson when he was bombed by the US.

I was wondering if perhaps The Turkish government might have an eye on the area because of its Oil reserves kind of like back when Iraq had an eye on Kuwait. Granted not the same; just a thought I had considering the fact that Turkey did not grant the US access through Turkey during the start of the conflict/war which hampered the US from the start.
