Tell me nataylor where exactly is the data transmitted to? Thanks.
Well I'm not Nataylor, but I believe the data is transmitted to the Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) at the Johns Hopkins University, since they built and operate the probe.
They expect to get about 6gb is data (over 600 images and data from other instruments). I'm not sure how long it takes to send 6gb from that distance but they should already have some of the data by now. I'm sure we'll see it soon.

Thanks for the info JRA. Yes, it is probably transmitted to the APL eventually. But first it has to be sanitized and I think all of that is done in Australia. It is then routed to the US. That is the reason for the delay.
Its not the distance from the transmitting spacecraft to Earth that causes the delay. Thats done in minutes. Its the time is has to spend being sanitized that causes the delay. I believe there is a facility in Canberra and one in Pina Gap that help in cleaning up the images.

It's easy to see mars as failure 1, earth as failure 2... but Venus is a possibility atm...

Thanks for that, I shall follow up on it tonight... I sent you a U2U on adding links and images...

Zorgon,
Will you please do the same for me ? How to add links and images. Also how to use this bloody quote thing properly would help.
Thanks in anticipation.
Again, that's a subjective opinion
and it would require substantial evidence to back up that claim.
Many times NASA has released images to the media and general public just as soon as they receive them.

Thanks for the 'heads up' vegarenx.
I was wondering just what in the heck was wrong with me.

And that substantial evidence could come in the form of one single photograph.
Yes thats correct. As soon as they receive them from the sanitization facililty. You don't really think they are going to let the public see anything that hasn't been approved by DOD do you?
I don't believe there is anything to hide and no sanitization is done what so ever. I have yet to see any proof. Finding imaging anomalies or interpreting light and shadows in odd ways isn't proof.

I have photos that show absolutely perfect magnificent humanoid statues on Venus taken by the camera results of the Magellan mission.

On the site they say that the imaging system sees much like our eyes do. But that implies a slight difference. What would be the difference you could explain in layman`s terms?
