Pakistani Christians Seek Government Protection After Threats to Convert by Pro-Taliban Forces

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Christians in a Pakistani town beset by pro-Taliban militants sought government protection Wednesday, the eve of a deadline for them to convert to Islam or face violence.

Here we go again... one religion using violence against the other. I'm not being prejudice against Islam either. Just in this case, they are the aggressors. There have been plenty of other cases where the tables were turned, so lets dispense with the "Majik Ninja hates Muslims" right now.

You would think that the Taliban of all people would know to chill out, having been ousted from their seats of power. If I was a Taliban, I'd be in humanitarian mode, trying to re-gain the support of as many people as possible. If nothing else, I wouldn't be out causing trouble. Maybe I'm assuming that the people there don't like the Taliban anymore? I could be wrong - it's happened before.

So I wonder how bad the violence will be when the Christians don't give in? I certainly hope there isn't loss of life... but knowing how things are over there, it's probably inevitable.

This clearly shows how dangerous religion and blind faith really is. I believe only real solution is to remove religion from politics and schools, or this will never end. This is very important today because religion produces criminally insane people on both sides and with WMD they can make a lot of damage. All because of some fictional deity and some crap book from 1000 years ago.

^ I agree. Religion, to me, is just another blind label used to control the masses.

It has no place in our current society. Common sense before religion I always say. LOL

Well it's not exactly about conspiracy but still it can be and it shows how people just kill others for nothing. Think about all the innocent children who die because adults are so retarded. Sad sad... We should do something about it!

I beleive the only real solution is to put Bibical principles back into the choosing politicians and prayer back in schools or this will end as has been prophecied. This is very important today because most people don't understand that Satan is behind these religions that come from Babylon and with WMD they can make a lot of damage. All this because a diety known as Satan has deceived many into believing he is fictional and some crap has been jammed down the blind mans throat for 1000's of years.

Satan is not real, it's something people made up to blame in case they went on and kill and burn villages and people. So after they did it, it was Satan's fault not theirs. Biblical principles from Old Testament too?

I can point to many examples where Satan has disguised himself as an angel of light and has caused those following a false god(Satam) to blow themselves up in a attempt to kill others. Now..........I can blame that on Satan because I understand where religion comes from and I understand his purpose is to lie, kill and destroy. Those that blow themselves and other up like this have been deceived into believing they do the work of God. They don't blame it on Satan. Can you not see the evil in this?

I was not being rude or sarcastic here, this was a genuine query. I agree that the news clip refers to religion but I was unsure of how it refers to conspiricy. In my opinion I dont think it does explicitly and I was interested in hear why other people thought it did.

The Old Testament is talking about the New Testament. When referring to males and females and virgins and non-virgins, it is essential to know that it is referring to spiritual meanings and not physical meanings madness.

The bible has a hidden story that will make more sense to you than the superficial one that is written in ink. At face value, killing the males and non-virgins seems wrong, but when you find the spiritual meaning of that scripture you will understand that it is not talking about what you think it is.

Although that song doesn't get my blood flowing, I did listen to it and read the lyrics.

What I think is that Simon & Garfunkel and a lot of other bands back then had a lot of insight into the times we live. I am not sure when this song was released - I am guessing 67' - 72' but those times were very similar to now in a lot of ways. It isn't a big wonder that songs like that can touch a familiar nerve with todays audience.

But about the song, without being too knowledgeable of why it was written and when exactly it was written, it seems to be reflecting the time it was written and also a pensive mood of wishing things could change. The lyrics reflect wanting be something more than what things actually are.

The way I see it, atheism desires to accept the world the way it is and just let the chips fall where they may, but true spirituality desires to open the eyes of the world that there is more in existence than what the eyes see and that it is possible that one day things are going to change for the better which is a great hope.

That is about all I see in that song. Personally I wish it had more verses.

PS- Everyone is my friend, they just don't know it yet.

Pro-Taliban. Not Taliban itself. It's weird how even the the headline is "Taliban Tells....", while it does so nowhere else in the article does it say "Taliban". Always "Pro-Taliban" (a term that could cover a very many things). I've been keeping an eye on these people, and their antics are getting weirder and weirder. They also burnt down a couple of CD shops, busted up some barbers for shaving peoples beards, and generally disturbed people in their day-to-day enjoyments. I'd say crazed extremism is the culprit here, not Islam.

I totally disagree with you. We are supposed to be the land of the free. Supposedly the country was started so people could practice religious freedom etc...

You are saying that we should start teaching all the kids about the bible in school and have prayers also. Is that correct? The church and the state are suppose to be separate. We know that is not the case quite frequently. What if you were of a different faith, does this make any sense to you?

I personally would be way mad if I found out that the school one of my kids went to was teaching them Bible stuff and having prayers. I would yank them right out of there, unless they wanted to stay. Does that make any sense? Freewill Right?

Pray tell (pun intended), what interpretation have you to offer about this story? You state that the story has a different or hidden meaning. What is it?
