Love this thread mojo. I have seen some songs in here that I haven't seen in ages. Saxon, Venom, Celtic Frost, etc... I had some rather nostalgic
moments watching these vids.
Ok I'll post a brief history of my intro to metal...
First I found this album British Steel.
then I found this album. Speak of the devil
Then I found my gods of metal, Slayer(I post this vid cause I haven't seen it yet on here and it's one of my fav songs by them)
British Steel what a fantastic album. I sort of feel privileged in a way growing up with those bands, JP, Venom, Celtic Frost, Maiden, Fist, Tank,
Saxon, Witchfinder General etc, great times.
Terrible vids but great songs. The American wave of 80's metal, very underrated band imo.
Aaahhhh love my Acca Dacca Hellmutt. Dont think theres an aussie alive who doesnt. Some special energy and charisma in the Bon era days dont you
think?
Came across this band the other day, and kinda liked it.
Bejelit - "Bejelith" (Italian Power Metal) Bellisimo
Vital Remains - Dechristianize(To random anime). Providence, RI band featuring Glen Benton from Deicide on vocals. The whole song is amazing but might
be a bit much for some...the really good stuff kicks in at about 2:35.
Finntroll - Trollhammaren. Finnish folk-metal. Amazing, if you're into that LOTR type of thing. If you like this song I highly recommend the album
Nattfodd that it is from.
Opeth - Demon of the Fall. My favorite band of all time, no doubt. Brilliant songwriting with their combination of dark and light. This is one of
their heavier songs with an amazing climax that counteracts the gloomy beginning.
Opeth - Benighted. Not metal at all, but a great example of the acoustic stuff that this band is capable of.
Type O Negative - Are You Afraid/Gravitational Constant(Live). Love this band. A lot of their catalogue is reminiscent of a gloomy Beatles.
Amon Amarth - Runes to My Memory. My sig is from this song. Swedish Viking Metal. Hail to the fellow Swedes!
Decapitated - Spheres of Madness. Polish death metal. Their drummer died in a traffic accident this past year. A terrible loss considering that they
were all in their young 20s with 4 great releases under their belts.
Nile - Sacrifice Unto Sebek. American technical death metal with an Egyptian motife. If you like this look up "Sarcophagus" on YouTube as well. The
guitarist Karl Sanders also has a solo, mostly instrumental Egyptian album called "Saurian Meditation" and sounds exactly like what the title
implies.
There's so many more I could post, but don't want to have a mile-long post. Hope you enjoy!
P.S. If you feel so inclined, check out my band at www.myspace.com... We're death metal but with more consistent songwriting and
melody due to keyboards that add a nice atmosphere to the mix when things get good and heavy.
