Did anyone happen to look at the "men in black" page?

They show a supposed NASA picture where they stick a cartoon "man in black" and actually think people will believe it's the real thing. I almost pissed my pants laughing at this!

Mike, that site is a joke...

NASA's view would be that it is the shadow cast of Phobos.

But yea, that is an interesting pic. Obviously if it is real, it has come from NASA and not some outside source.

The image in the original post is definetly the same as the one you've linked to, good find Phloyd

Sorry all nothing to see here...

Funny that no one thought of just a simple cloud. Mars is known for it's apparent stormy weather.

And Russians on Mars? It would take one year to reach Mars, and in any case such a spacecraft must be constructed in space. I doubt anyone had that kind of technology in the 60's. I mean, they can get to Mars all in secret, but not build new and secure spacecraft here?

I mean, it's easier to believe that Hitler and the Nazis escaped to an underground base

In my opinion its one of the worst fakes i´ve ever seen. The shadow
shape ist completly wrong. The shade of the stones would also be affected. Also the shadow fallof to the horizon. There you can clearly see it.
Sorry folks, but this is definetly a fake.

Taking the opinions of others in reply to the - and imo only, not being offensive - very shonky footage, is hard to swallow ?!

agreed. it's a fake. it couldn't have been a moon or the something attached to the lander because it changes direction.

it's either an actual spacecraft or a hoax. I'm going with hoax. looks like the image provided in one of the links above. when I get time I'll overlay the photos.

This is the original image:

This is the original image with the "video" shaded in red:

This is the same image with the overlay reduce to 50% transparency:

label this baby a HOAX please.

Oh, yuck. Horrible fake. It's a moving gradient slapped upon a photo. One also has to wonder exactly how many pictures they took in order to be able to produce such a high value of frames per second.

Blah. It's stuff like this that brings bad rep to other more serious anomaly research. Personally I also immediately smell fish when there are no source photos.

Umm...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sojourner launched in 1997? Thats roughly 6 years after the Soviet Union fell.

Anyway, this is an amazing series of photographs. I'll have to download the movie when I get home (then convert it to another format as I refuse to put Quicktime on my computer).

EDIT: And once again, I am late...it seems to have already been branded a hoax...how awkward...
Seriously I need to read entire threads first and not rush to post.

it takes a year to get to Mars using what you know...but we would not likely drive a Ford to Mars.

do you believe everything you are told? Unfortunately, so did the Tuskegee Airmen.

Cant trust anything on the internet these days sadly enough. Theres 16 year olds out there with photoshop skills good enough to fool thousands of UFO fanatics sadly enough. The only images I will even give the time of day is if a reliable and verifiable current "insider" source comes foward with source images, preferably brought foward to a reliable media outlet (yaya some nuts are wanting to say omg major media will cover it up!, well whats the worse they can do say "no we won't cover this story"? so he can move on to another), not posted on some random ass doom and gloom website (like the one in the OP) with a fake-ass story with no proof to verify it and usually some type of $$ price to buy the "whole" story (whether it be a book or dvd whatever). Sadly enough, its amazing how many people buy into hoaxes like these.

Phloyd, that's the one!
But I wish NASA had put a time tag to the pics. That's one of the ways this could've been nailed. So can we get hold of the pics with the time tags?

Yeah! I've clarified this in my earlier post. Here it is...

There are quite a few sites that suspect that the Soviet Union had already reached Mars by the early 60s. So it was CCCP then! Though, needless to say, I don't believe this. But then check out what John Lear has to say. The Americans and the Russians are already there! From around the 60s!!

Cheers!

If you look, you will see that Mike loves to post hoaxes here on ATS, and then make spectacular claims without any genuine evidence. This is just another case of his being a points whore filling the board with nonsense.

Notice that he makes the statement "Moving alien spacecraft..." when there is no evidence of any alien presence. It is just his speculation or promotion of the idea and has no substance. He also, as usual, fails to offer ANY real data. No factual NASA images, just a link to a Website with a known agenda and a total lack of credibility. Further there is no real science. As has been pointed out in this thread, the CCCP did not exist at the time yet he points to them as a possibility. There was no video capability on this mission, yet a video is claimed as evidence. The actual NASA image does not show any shadow, it was added later by a hoaxer.

In another thread, I requested that Mike should continue to post interesting images of our solar system, as they are well worth looking at, but to refrain from making false statements and from hyping concepts without any actual supporting data. It is clear that he loves to HOAX the board and for that I would suggest a reprimand.

Hoaxing is not what ATS is all about. In the quest to Deny Ignorance, we should be seeking quality postings with actual data. Not a Weekly World News with stories claiming sightings of Elvis's Bigfoot Alien Baby. This thread is an obvious attempt at promoting false information. Mike never intended to do any homework to support his claims of alien spacecraft. He intended to hype a hoax. I call foul

thank you Terapin for tactfully bringing out the point i could not do myself,i like ATS but when i see stuff posted like mikes its quite disturbing

I don't jump to conclusions as readily as you Terapin. While it may SEEM to you that this is the case, it may not SEEM that way to others. Guilty until proven innocent by your claims. It is possible that an ATS'er found something of interest and wanted to post the link for others to see-isn't that possible? Or should all posters on ATS conduct an initial (or comprehensive investigation) of an internet link or story before posting? If this was the case, I would think that people would be largely reluctant to post anything on ATS.

While I agree that some due diligence is necessary before posting, at what lengths do you draw the line. Its also a REASON to post such claims here on ATS, so that others (more brains are better than one brain concept, usually) can collectively chime in and brainstorm. We have experts here, photo analysis, archive researchers etc that can better validate or invalidate a particular post.

With that said it is also a good idea if posting something that may be questionable to post the thread with an UNBIASED thread title. If its a biased title, it may LEAD people in a certain direction and is not good form. I have been guilty of it as I'm sure many if not all have in some way or another.

So keep on "Denying Ignorance" here on ATS with regards to any new threads, besides isn't it good practice to keep us all sharp and on our toes?

Greatlakes, did you read the title of this thread? Where is there ANY evidence of alien spacecraft in relation to the images presented???? There isn't any. It is pure hype. The link he offered is to a Website full of nonsense and not at all credible. As I indicated, this is not an isolated incident with Mikes threads. Go take a look for yourself. Repeated unsupported claims and bogus links is the modus operandi in Mikes postings. Can you offer any evidence that he attempted " Due Diligence" as you mentioned???

Yes, it is good to take a look at new and different topics, but we should hold a higher standard. An attempt of veracity should have been made in this case, yet hype was all that was offered. I readily agree that there is considerable reason to ponder the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe, but I would never post a highly suspect set of images along with a claim of Alien spacecraft without doing any reasonable background checks along with offering supporting data. Only then would I post a thread and ask for further help from the great minds of ATS to help prove or deny the idea. Simply spamming the board with nonsense material is a poor excuse for seriousness.

Well, if we all had "evidence" of alien spacecraft we all wouldn't be here now would we. We could shutdown all ATS "Do aliens exist" threads.
