Very true, imagine what could be achieved if governments supported these projects?
I'm not saying the air car is THE answer but merely demonstrating there are alternatives.

The thing is that while for a regular car that technology seems to be good, what about trucks and other vehicles used to haul products? They have to lower the weight of those air cars not only for better mileage, but becausethe speed of the car would go down considerably with more weitgh.

As is those cars can run at max speed at about 80 mph, and that's because most of it is made out of aluminum.

Eventually some new technology will be able to replace fuel cars, but that takes time for testing and implementation. These changes don't happen overnight.

well ?

i only ask , because when my mate moved out 10 years ago the " big " climate change story in australia was COOLING

and the biggest concern was its effect on property values - specifically those with swimming pools

it was reported [ back then ] that owners were filling pools in - and building patios / conservetories and home extensions

because it was [ IIRC this was mostly on the south coast ] the number of days that an unheated outdoor pool was useable - was dropping sharply

i will have to dig up the article/s for cires / confirmation - but i am sure i recall the details above correctly

so what has changed ?

I didnt ask for evidence the globe is "warming" ... I asked for scientific evidence it is human relation.

Show me that please..

Here is a link to a documentary that does just that - it proves with scientific evidence the corellation of global warming and rising CO2 levels and proves that it is a natural occurance caused by variances and cycles of solar activity and not by the actions of humans at all.

www.youtube.com...

Titled "The Great Global Warming Swindle"

Why, this is not being made more public only goes to show the scale of the scam that the governments are perpetuating on the citizens and trying to make money out of it in the process.

Al Gore was right, The world is warming, but not due to human influence, why didnt he pay more attention or emphasise that aspect of the data?

Because he is in on the scam too!

Australia is not in meltdown, we are just feeling the rise in tempriture abit more than other nations due to our large expanse of desert that holds more heat, thus affecting circulating weather patterns in the area.

It is the greedy and self centred policies of various governments over the past 30 years that are more concerned about making vast sums of money, now, and not caring about the future generations to come. The governments of all states of Australia base their policies on a re-active method - that is, they will not do something about anything until the S@#T hits the fan, where as an intelligent leader will implement pro-active policies with a future vision of helping coming generations by building the necessary infrastructure now that will benefit the next 2 or 3 generations, such as building dams now for when the rains do come back, or starting to build pipelines to transport the flood waters of the north to the population centres of the south.

Vision people, our leaders lack vision and heart, and until we get a leader that has those qualities we will always suffer!

Whether global warming is manmade or not, what can we do to reduce the effect? I'm sure emitting greenhouse gasses won't improve the situation or do you think it doesn't make any difference?

It does not surprise me that people will make money out of this. Sorry I didn't get to see the "The Great Global Warming Swindle" cause it's too long for my dialup

Nicely put and totally agree...

Do you think Kevin Rudd might have those qualities? Personally I doubt it.

Same thing is happening again, Sydney's property prices are starting to drop for the same reason, The Gold Coast and Brisbane will be affected in the same way within the next few years, reportedly.

That just goes to show why more people should buy hybrid or electric cars. Please post any comments here.

Actually, hybrids 9at least the Toyota Prius) cause more damage to the envronment than the Hummer.

This thread compelled me to start a new thread relating to this topic. See ya' there!!

There are a lot of countries that safely discards their nuclear waste. Australia has vast deserts which could be used to bury the stuff. Also Aust is a relative stable continent so if done properly it should be safe.

People talk about jobs, what better way to create jobs by replacing old coal powerstation with new state of the art nuke stations.

Wow so now Nuclear energy is now the safe, environmental, clean form of energy of choice of the Green crowd? What a difference a few decades make eh?

More Nukes, better jobs, save the planet.......you almost sound like conservative politician LOL.

Also if storing spent nuclear rods is so safe, how come no one wants them in their own backyard? Lets ship them out to the some of the most pristine areas of the planet, that will show them how environmentally friendly we are.

Yes a few decades really do make a difference. Modern nuclear reactors are a far cry from the early primitive reactors of yesteryear. I think the Chinese now lead the way with the world safest nuclear plants. Meltdowns are impossible with these.

Offcourse no one wants nuke waste in their backyard, that's why I suggested bury the stuff in the desert. I'm not talking about just dumping the stuff and leaving it lying around or anything.
Maralinga is a good place, it's aready conteminated from nuke tests in the 1950's

Maralinga not so pristine...
