Australia facing meltdown.

news.ninemsn.com.au

Australia needs to urgently ratify the Kyoto Protocol and slash its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 60 percent by 2050 to help fight global warming, says British climate economist Nicholas Stern.
The former World Bank chief economist, speaking in Canberra, said the cost of inaction could be catastrophic, but rich countries were recognising the problem of global warming with firm emissions targets now set by Britain, France, California and the European Union.

That just goes to show why more people should buy hybrid or electric cars. Please post any comments here.

John Howard would reply to that, saying ratifying Kyoto would be too costly in terms of economic power.

He is right,
But, as Al gore said

'' On one side, we have gold bars. MMMmm MMmmm. Love them gold bars.... on the other side we have..........THE WHOLE planet
To have those gold bars, we need that planet ''

People wont buy hybrid or electric cars just because of there fuel source . Hybrid or electric cars have to be of better design and competitively priced when compared to there petrol counterparts. The fuel that echo cars run on has to be cheaper then petrol as well.

Once all of the above is in place the market will take care of the rest.

Too right, John Howard never wants to take responsibility for anything, he's rather just wait and see if it sorts itself out.

It's strange how all the different media reports state that we have to reduce global warming in different amounts of time. (sorry if that doesn't make sense. I'm tired).

I've never owned a vehicle yet though im looking towards a hybrid car thats for sure. So im in on helping the global warming bit as a statement.

Show me the SCIENTIFIC evidence proving without a doubt car emisions relate to global warming.

Then I still won't by a Hybrid car.

I don't know whats all the fuss about hybrid cars being
'ish.. I mean they look normal and they do opperate a heck of a lot better than the average junk.

Ummm... the proofs everywhere. take a look at a satalite image of Antarctica 2 years ago and look at one today.

I think that the thing that gets me everytime, is the fact that this a newly discivered 'Global' concern and other PPl write it of as the reflection of the Earths transitional effect's and that it is supposed to be a normal thing. Proof of the matter, "There was a lot of industrialization at the begining of the coal and steam production transportation." Which fit's right into the time line possibilitie's of the actions of humans to the enviorment.

Another thing that strikes me odd is the delay in all the new vehicles being produced for the effects of Global Warming, and how they could benefit the massess that are currently car owner's to have a more enviormentally friendly and cost efficient vehicle.

There have been device's studied and prototyped for the this exact reason of cost and maintinance. Now we have the other , 'Un- Noticed" affects that are completely destroying thing's in our atmosphere from some 100 +
years ago, which are still going to effect the ozone for decades too come.

For the poster that inquired about the 'Proof's' of 'Global Warming' and how they use thier degree's of being able to measure it, 'Google.com' . There are various way's to contribute too the global warming, even by running a light bulb that is not efficient.

This will be a topic talked about for years too come, we don't have the 'Cure' for this mistake, but apparently it can be sustained , for a long period of our future relatives lives, if they follow the protocol that has been set forth as a derivettive from what has already been done.

IMHO.....

I also have other active vid's and hybrid discoveries that are vry much sought after in other countries, "Even one that run's on Air."
But the sacrifice for power versus economic and stable global contamination out ways the the G's views with all thier Petrol products.

Global warming is not caused by mankind , so don't listen to that rubbish. Even so, it's smart to conserve energy. The only thing burning up in Oz is the racecourses ran over by Darren Beadman, Glenn Boss and Cory Brown.

I didnt ask for evidence the globe is "warming" ... I asked for scientific evidence it is human relation.

Show me that please..

I can't. This scientist does not believe it either. Maybe the high priest of global warming, Al Gore, can tell you some lies as he buys carbon credits from himself.

No one can show you any real evidence of manmade global warming, because it does not exist.

That's what I meant, Antarctica hasn't changed that much since humans started using cars and stuff. I dunno, I'm tired and not making sense at the moment lol

But prove its because of us humans... What do you have to say about the sun being hotter then it has been in the past? Our entire solar system is warmer. They say Mars is experiencing its own "global warming". Prove to me its not a natural cycle that affects the world every 3,000 years. The only difference is we havent been around here that long to keep these sort of records. Should we not put some sort of restrictions on our oceans, which are the biggest source of CO2 out put? I dont believe in kyoto. Its a sham. If the US went kyoto as per the Gore idea, alot of our factorys, jobs and investments would just move offshore to china and india, Which would have no impact on "global warning". Kyoto doesnt affect china or india. They are considered third world nations. for some reason developing nations are spared at the expense of the rich ones. Why should we restrict ourselfs all the while fueling china and indias growth? Thats pointless and unfair.

Manmade (anthropogenic) global warming has become a religion for many. They always fold when I ask them for solid proof. Their worn out CO2 charts are a joke, but they have little more to offer than just more alarmist B.S. speak with no evidence to back their claims whatsoever. They wrongly claim that there is a scientific consensus that global warming is caused by humans. That is an absolute lie.

There is no way that a 0.010% increase in CO2 and a 0.6 degree C temperature increase over 100 years causes anything. This is most likely a natural process or perhaps only a common data variation that we scientists see in data everyday. The proponents of A.G.W. run from real science because they know they have no case.

There is no climate crisis. Global warming is political rhetoric being used to extort average, honest citizens of more money and power.
