I was wondering, would there still be places on earth where villages have hitler statues? Like whole communities of nazi's who have flead to an island somewhere in the pacific and still admire Hitler or something...

I really haven't the faintest idea in what topic to put this

I don't know, I came up with this, mind I only spent a few minutes on a search. ( Hitler public effigies)

Hitler Returns to the Heart of Berlin - in Wax

By Dave Graham

BERLIN (Reuters) - A life-size wax figure of Adolf Hitler has gone on display in the heart of Berlin in what museum officials say is the first such public exhibition of the Nazi dictator in post-war Germany. "Provided it's all just art, it's permitted,"

Edit
I would not be surprised to find statues of him in private collections though.

Yeah there are probably loads of neo-nazi's (ye kerrichin that's what they're called) who still have hitler stuff in their homes.

Interesting stuff also about the wax statue, but, like they say, it's just art

I am going to do some research to see if there are any known places in Europe (or maybe south-america, that's where lots of nazi's fleed to after the war) where there are statues in the middle of the village, and people just don't mind..

Wow, if that is a life sized statue of Hitler, he was even smaller than I already thought he was!!
I always took Hitler to be about 5'7" tall. He looks like he may be 5'4" maybe 5'5" tops!!

I seriously doubt there are many statues of Hitler in Germany. The general populace, at least from what I understand, despise the man.

Germany would rather pretend their past does not exist then to recognize it.

Hitler was "bad" in the sense that he killed Jews..... why else is he bad? .. I can see no other reason. Except he lost.

Napolean, also a great military leader is shuned as a tyrant and murderer.. because he lost.

Europe would rather believe history began in 1945 and forsake the rest.

he also killed a lot of other people, like those of the roma faith. around 2 million of them died.
about 10 million people died in the holocaust, the jews made up around 6 million.

and starting a world war is bad. causing a war that left a continent in ruins is very very bad. his intentions for a world ruled by a supposedly superior race of people is bad. overthrowing a democratic system is bad. manipulating the populace is bad.

Napolean, also a great military leader is shuned as a tyrant and murderer.. because he lost.

maybe it's because he crowned himself emporer when he was supposed to be upholding the principles of the revolution. hell, he eventually set things up so he'd have his own royal dynasty.

Europe would rather believe history began in 1945 and forsake the rest.

i'm going to assume you're american here. americans can't remember what it's like to be involved in a real war, one where you actually are getting bombed. in WW2 the USA was attacked once, and it wasn't the mainland.

if the USA had been ruined like europe, i'm sure you'd want to forget about that too.

To make such a judgement, you must know the woman, yes ?

Anyway, there are still people involved with the Neo-Nazi movement in the
U.S.
Might try Google for some of them.

I would, but as my family is German, I rather despise the Nazi's.

As did Typhus and also starvation due to the Red Cross not being able to help supply food in the latter part of the war due to too much ALLIED bombing...and don't forget the unforgettable, inimitable Reichsführer (aka H. Himmler).

why else is he bad? .. I can see no other reason.

1) Because he is dead and therefore is not present to correct various misconceptions.

2) Because he scared the be-jeebers out of both FDR and Churchill - and was the nightly torment of Joseph Stalin, who was so haunted that he went to his own grave utterly CONVINCED that Hitler had outlived him, somehow.

3) Because he is the Father of VEE-DUB, 40 hour work weeks, yearly paid vacations, the Autobahn, the 'Black Box' used in airliner crash diagnostics, AS WELL AS monthly breast self-examination which has greatly reduced the fatality rate from breast cancer (which killed his own mother, Klara).

4) Because he brought Germany out of a near-fatal post WWI condition in less than a decade (virtually eliminating unemployment in about 3 years...without increasing the circulation of national currency) - an unprecedented and, as of yet, unrepeated feat in modern human history in the Common Era (CE formerly known as A.D.).

Except he lost.

He was totally outnumbered at the end - after all the shifting of loyalties, it was came down to just him and his one true friend, Eva. And she wasn't much of a strategist (but what she lacked in soldierly abilities she MORE than compensated for, through her sense of style and natural beauty).

Napolean, also a great military leader is shunned as a tyrant and murderer.. because he lost.

Now that you mention N.B. - it makes me suspect a CONSPIRACY against SHORT military geniuses....

Europe would rather believe history began in 1945 and forsake the rest.

No doubt - that way only Hitler gets the blame! If no one mentions that the official start of the TRUE GLOBAL holocaust was 1914, then there isn't any awkwardness about blaming a 15 year old school boy for the 57 MILLION lives lost, worldwide, in WWII (and that's not including the 19 million lives lost in the 'Great War/WWI').

Approximately 37 million civilian casualties and 24 million lost in the military in WWII - anywhere from 57 to 61 MILLION DEATHS in all countries in less than a decade! The Holocaust death toll is estimated around 5 to 6 million.
The combined military and civilian death count in the Soviet Union and Japan ALONE is around 24 million - 4 times that of the so-called holocaust!

We ALL lost in WWII! Not JUST the Jews...not just the Japanese or the Polish or the residents of London and Berlin...ALL of us.

The truth (according to objective facts, NOT opinion and blame) does not play favorites nor does it choose singular blameworthy scapegoats!

At least Hitler didn't talk out of both sides of his mouth like Churchill did - time and time again!

BTW - Napoleon Bonaparte was around 5'6 1/2" tall and Adolf Hitler was between 5'8" and 5'9" - same as me - relatively short for a man but a bit on the tall side for a gal.

Just FYI:
Tom Cruise is 5' 7"
Joseph Stalin & King Tut were both 5' 6"
Al Pacino is 5' 5 1/2"
Harry Houdini was 5' 5"
James Madison & Pablo Picasso were both 5' 4"
St. Francis of Assisi was 5' 1"
Joan of Arc was 4' 11"

Exactly Queenanie, I could not have said it better my self...

People forget the benefits some of histories "tyrants" give us.. Napolean for instance gave us zip codes, area codes, street adresses ect. to better organize cities..

The reason N.B. was described by ignorant historians as "short" is because the French used a different measuring system, thus making him shorter in number, but not actual hieght..

Anyways, look back at world leaders.. few where ever above 6'0
Naploianic Syndrom?

err because of him nearly a whole generation was wiped out.
he believed only blonde hair and blue eyed people were worthy of living
he sent young children to fight the war after he killed off all his adult soldiers
and yes he killed millions of jews also gypsies and any other 'type of people' he deamed not fit enough for his society.
just a few for you there

Europe would rather believe history began in 1945 and forsake the rest.

im in europe and we have rememberance sunday every year to remember all wars our men and women died in

Apparently they have some reservations even displaying works from that period, whether the likenesses of Hitler, or not.

www.expatica.com...

But I did find some items for sale.....this stuff is collectable after all. You can have a bronze statue for about $4000.

Here are more items

Third Reich Art

I did see a bust of Hitler locally.....at a flea market.

No, but I can look at the lady and she can't be over 5'2" maybe 5'3". Hitler looks to be only about an inch to an inch and a half taller than she is. By the way, Hitler never looked very big to me anyway, so.. I always said that him and Napoleon had the "little man's" complex.

If you want to talk about bad, let's talk about what Mr. Joseph Stalin did. He is responsible for anywhere from 20-80 million deaths. Yet, people hardly ever mention him.
No bias there, not at all.

the problem with this guy russia has kept everything involving government sectet until resently so people are only just realiseing and finding out how mad and bad he really was.
stalin is recognised as a terrible dicator.
i dont know about were you live but were i live there is a large museam dedicated to stalin and the terrible things he did.

i just think people are more interested in hitler because i dont think there is anyone who can truely say that it didnt affect history or have family members such as parents grandparents or great grand parents that faught in the war including women such as the WAF in britain.

i do agree that more should be said about stalin but i have found that as the years go on more is coming out and being disclassified.

also you have to remeber that stalin was classed as an ally in the war so politians had to be very careful at the time.

if you ever come to england especially shropshire go and see the coldwar museam at cosford air museam its free and it has everything from the end of world war one and though to the late 1980s its really good and it tells the story of the dictatorship of stalin

Strongly disagree.

I have spoken to several Germans on this subject. The overriding reaction I initially got was one of extreme shame and a very strong desire to apologise profusely, almost to the point where we had to actually ask them to stop going on about it! The people I have spoken to were all from the 'younger' generation, so I suspect that teaching of the subject in schools is intended to promote the feelings described.

On the flip side, my Grandmother left Austria in 1946 when she was seventeen and her initial response when discussing the actions of the Nazi regime was something along the lines of 'we didn't know what was happening', but in a very defensive manner, if you see what I mean.

Perhaps the 'older' generation do want to forget 'it' ever happened but, in my experience, the 'younger' generation are fully aware of the actions of their forefathers and also seem willing, rightly or wrongly, to assume a burden of guilt.
