YF-12A and the A-12 are suppose to be in this one but can't really tell which one is the A-12? Look at the video and tell me what you think the sr71 is hauling on its back at around 3min 6 sec. Looks like to me a USFO(united states flying object:lol No really what is it, is it the A-12? as it lifts off of the back of the sr71, it engages its engine. the usfo appears earlier on the video just like it looks at the 3min 6 sec part! Just have to watch carefully!

The aircraft launching the D-21 drone off its back is an M-21. This was a version of the A-12, of which two were modified to carry the drone. The SR-71 did not carry the D-21 drone.

The 3 main ways to identify the A-12/ YF-12/ SR71 aircraft.

SR-71 - Tail boat fusalage extention beyond the trailing edge
The A-12 / M-21 and YF-12 did not have this.

A-12 / M-21 - A more triangular shaped nose.

YF-12 has cut back chines at the nose.

On the previous post that I referred about the XB-70 Valkyrie “family”, I assumed SR-71 as one from that family, and galm 1 you will find there 2 videos on the SR-71, among other planes.

An SR-71 with an Aerospike engine. Reports state the engine pushed the airframe to its max.

That is one reason they retired the Blackbird because the airframe took too much stress from speeds of up to mach 2.9. Here is a tribute to the Sr-71 Blackbird. I hope you enjoy the video.
