Considerably. The accretion disk starts out with stellar nebula (which have been observed) and the dust and material in the nebula being pulled into and around the star.

How can we discover the shape of a thing without testing every facet of it. Question everything!

One of the things humans do well is learn to evaluate so we don't have to test everything. We don't have to eat every single deadly nightshade on the planet to find out that the plant is poisonous. We don't have to drop every single droppable object to know that objects in our gravitational field fall at 32 ft/second/second. Someone can postulate that anti-glueons will keep a ball of glue from falling at that speed, but we know enough about the science that we don't have to test it to say "Ain't gonna happen."

Proposing that we accept every theory, no matter how lame or how silly is something that you do only when you don't have enough information. An uneducated person might believe the "anti-glue-ons" and gravity and using anti-glue as a way to power antigravity craft... but most educated people would laugh it off.

So it saves us from wasting our time on things that are known to be wrong.

In this case, a basic knowledge of science and a little math (nothing beyond division and multiplication) easily knocks the idea out.

Thanks for all that input 2Hide,

How do the scientist know how old the sun or planets are---did they pull those numbers out of their hat?---

There is absolutely no way of knowing---perhaps their theories should be put into skunkworks also---

All theories are guesses or hunches and have not been proven else they wouldn’t be theories. It’s obvious I am being discriminated against because I’m not a scientist---what a cheap shot by those that moved this thread

Have you read this article? Planet Birthing

I'm suggesting that there may be something to Sleeper's idea. While he puts forward the idea in a rather humorous, sometimes silly manner,

Like a hairball that has formed in the interior of the sun, planets get spit out every now and then.
- there is reason for real scientific debate on the subject. reference the work of Nobel Prize winner - Hannes Alfvén

By the way... Why is this in Skunk works when it's a valid scientific theory, proposed by a Nobel Prize winner in Physics? I think there was a rush to judgment here.

Sience changes every so often you must remember.

Theories and ideas change and grow, yes. But those changes happen when there is substantial evidence to support it.

So far sleeper has shown none. His starting post comes off as if he is stating everything as fact. All theories are debated and tested by various scientists who may side with or against a theory. sleeper seems unwilling or unable to debate and test his. If he could at least try to show some supporting evidence, that would be a start.

And if my replies and strong skepticism of this idea come off making me sound like the "leader of the cult of pre-established science". I can live with that.

...like a Nobel Prize winner in Physics? ...or is that not enough of an Authority for you?

Did you do ANY research on your own, to see whether or not this was a valid theory?

Granted, Sleeper put it in a rather generic and silly context - that does not make the underlying theory less valid.

Once again, I agree with smack. I believe that this thread was moved to Skunk inappropriatly.
Lets roll it back on over

Thanks cpdaman,

I must be on to something the way some on this thread are running around terrified about my speculations---

If there is nothing to what I said why all the paranoia and chest pounding?

Am I a threat to someone's cherished beliefs?----all beliefs fall after a few decades---it’s the way things are on this planet and will never change---otherwise we will not change but stay the same.

That’s a powerful argument and should be addressed by the mod that moved this thread---unless it was moved for ulterior and prejudiced reasons.

Thanks Smack!

Hello biotic

I can’t elaborate on that because I don’t have all my ducks lined up yet.

Oh, c'mon. You've posted 2 of the most ridiculous threads in the history of these forums, without any supporting evidence, and you expect them to be left in a serious discussion area?

The UFO field is about the study of EVIDENCE, not about baseless, crackpot theories. You, and people like you, are the reason UFOlogy has such a stigma attached to it.

I applaud the moderators for moving this topic, and don't give in to any pressure by sleeper's fold to have it moved back. It is now where it belongs.

And what are your contributions to ufology or for that matter anything?

You must be well decorated to be judging me

I'm guessing you haven't read any of the links I posted, you've probably ignored completely, any facts germane to the topic, and yet you reflexively spew your venom because...?

...where is the ignore button. sheesh!

Would it matter whether i was 'decorated' or not? On the reverse, how can you judge me? You can't really call yourself 'decorated' can you because of your imaginary friend Milton? Or is it because John Lear liked your first thread?

In my opinion, I'm doing a lot more for UFOlogy by not posting tripe like you do.

Actually i did look at them, and they are as ridiculous as the original 'theory' is.

You are a new member, so I'll excuse the running to the ignore button. I was the one who fought, and succeeded, to have Alien Agenda banned for his point-gathering baseless threads, and I'm simply running on the same reflex again.

Give it a rest, sleeper (pun intended). There is nothing wrong with the Skunkworks forum. You all talk like it is the forum of death or something. It's funny somehow people are still replying even though you think the death warrant has been signed.

I guess having it in the banner is not enough publicity for you?

Sorry for going off topic. Carry on.
