With so many people beleiving or not beleiving so many things on this board I am curious to know what everyone thinks about death.

What does death mean to you? Is it the end or the begining?

i'm going to give you the same answer i keep coming back to every time i have thought of this.

i have no idea, i will find out when i die.

i cant speculate and say one way or the other that there is an afterlife let alone a heavan or hell. i honestly dont know what lies beyond my life and i wont know until i get to that crossroad.

i'm not even sure i have an expectation of what will or will not happen.

its the end of my life as i know it. if anything lies beyond this i dont know.

i really dont have an answer i suppose!

God says, I gave you a list of what to do. Take no graven image before me. Ring any bells?

Who's this jackass on a cross I keep hearing about?

well he wasnt an image before (if he existed that is). so those who take up graven images....well i guess they arent the true christians (or they are sinning christians)

(i think such a debate about this in more depth requires a thread on the ATS side as it is more theological and factual than anything else)

Feel free Prank.

But I'm reluctant to get into it. All the Aliens are Fallen Angels people Above Board almost have me convinced Jesus was an Alien/Satan figure sent to divert us from the true God.

Scary thought. Old Testament was right? New Testament a diversion???

"the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory as of the Son from the Father" (Jn 1:14). God became man, revealing Himself and the true destiny of human beings in the person of Jesus Christ.
Divine life is given to become the life of man.
We have icons of him because He assumed a human body and was seen, heard, looked upon, and touched "with our hands" (I Jn 1:1ff).
He has been experienced in the community of believers.
So when we venerate the visual or verbal icons of Christ, we adore neither the color nor the letter but the one who became man, for our sake and for our salvation.

Also another wonderful explanation of how the ''WORD'' became flesh....''LOGOS''

Your right, we do not know, none have come back to tell us.

But as a hospice nurse I can tell you that death is not passive,
but the final act of living. Many people, when time is close actively
participate in preparing for death. They have conversations with
loved ones who have died, some many years ago. I have noticed that
many ultra religious have as much or more fear than those who are
not religious. I have been told by some towards the end that the fear
is gone and replaced with a sublime peace.

I think for me I compare the death of the person to a sailing vessel,
not gone, just gone from my sight.

When I was 18 my mother died. The night of her funeral I woke up
to find her standing at the foot of my bed. I could't move arms or legs,
I was frozen to the bed. It lasted but a moment but I've never forgotten
it.

This cant be it. I think this is a test of some sorts. We have certian lessons to learn while we are here. If our spirit/soul does not learn them then we are reincarnated here in this plane. What plane this is or how many there are I do not know. But judging by the we we humans act towards each other for little things like skin color and nation of orgin this is a very low plane. We our trying to acend to a higher plane of excentice that some call heaven. BUt that is instead just the next realm.
