Does anyone know if this is still supposed to be on on June 29th? I didn't see anything like it in the TV listings for the Discovery Channel on that date & I really want to make sure that I watch it. Can't wait to see it!!!!

So what's the status of the documentary? I assume it's not airing on the 29th, as that's a mere 3 days away.

Our very own "Voice of ATS", Springer, has been working his tail off behind the scenes with the Discovery Channel, and we just received word yesterday that the budget has been approved.

He'll be flying to Chicago soon to begin work on a Discovery Channel documentary on the O'Hare UFO incident. This means we (ATS) will become an even more important "Go-To" source for pictures and videos of the event as our content has inspired this important television show.

Springer will be working with the MUFON director of the State of Illinois, John Hilkevitch of the Chicago Tribune, and a number of previously undisclosed eyewitnesses to the event. As a companion-piece to the television show, we'll have a special thread here on ATS where we can all discuss the findings and any interesting material that didn't make into the show.

This is exciting news for ATS, and vindication for all of Springer's hard work behind the scenes. Stay tuned... this is going to get good.

So, what you are saying, is that I will finally become wealthy and powerful?

Ooohh... You said "Springer".

It's been over five months since the last comment regarding this issue...

Has the show been canceled? Postponed again? Never was?

What happened?

What could possibly be more important than Springer talking on national television?

Thank you Jbird for the prompt reply.

However I must say that I am very disappointed. A link to a pod cast by an ATS owned mouthpiece does not instill much confidence with me.

I do not have the time nor the ability to listen to a pod cast (listening is much slower than reading anyway)

Your link states 'Springer on the Travel Channel'.

The text on ATS and on Dave Rabbits pod cast page states Springer on the Discover Channel. Which is it? And when will it be aired?

Without the Discovery Channel (or Travel Channel, or Home Shopping Network Channel) posting information about this issue on their respective web sites it would seem that, so far anyway, this is an internally controlled and contained 'story'.

Would you happen to know if there is a transcript of the pod cast you linked to available online? Or perhaps you have had the time to listen to it and could list the salient points for us?

Many people have been patiently awaiting the national broadcast of this story and it seems to have been quietly swept under the rug, as it were.

Again I ask, what happened? I also respectfully request that any answers to that question be given in a format that does not require the use of speakers, headphones, color monitors, fast internet connections, media players and so fourth. Simple text please.

Thank you so much for your continued support regarding this issue.

Has anyone had the opportunity to listen to the pod cast in the link provided by Jbird? Just a brief synopsis would be most helpful. Has the broadcast been canceled or just put on hold? Is it on The Discovery Channel or The Travel Channel? What is the current tentative broadcast date?

Many months ago it was stated that there would be information in the broadcast that had not been discussed here. If the broadcast is no longer going to happen, perhaps that information could now be revealed to the ATS community?

Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I sure hope this community can start policing itself, or the masses will come to this new found "goto source" and find nothing but foolish Clinton is a lizard videos, blurred moon rocks being claimed to be bucket excavators, and 7 out of 10 threads in the UFO forum being totally foolish and without merit.

If a bunch of people come here and see that kind of stuff it will immediately discredit the show they just saw on television and further hurt the cause of real ufology and eventual disclosure (which will only happen after all this stuff is accepted mainstream, i.e. no more "I was abducted last night" threads embarrassing the entire community.)

I mean, you people need to take a hard look at your UFO forum. You really want 90% of the people who post in there to be the face of ATS to the general public as they get turned on to this place from T.V.? And I bet, a year from now we will still see threads about "why doesn't the mainstream take the whole UFO thing seriously", lol. Well, duh. We do it t ourselves. And those that speak up get the shaft while those that continue to present the absurd, foolish side of the hobby get the limelight.

Think about it, you know I make sense.

daystrom, may I respectfully suggest that your respectful request reads like it was a respectful demand.

It appeared, from your text, that you want everyone else to do your searching for you, while you missed the thread that advertised Springer's appearance on the TV special.

When you're asking for information given via the internet, then it is common practice, these days, that the information distributed will involve some form of multimedia, other than plain text. So, you might wish to consider using speakers and such to facilitate the medium with which you will be able to acquire the information that you seek.

Try this link and see what you can manage to find yourself. I respectfully hope that you can manage to follow this link and see where it takes you, other than waiting for someone to click the link for you.

There have been numerous posts like this on ATS, they fall on deaf ears. Being Politically Correct is ruining the world and ATS.

Perhaps they should make a separate "contactees" forum.

'tezzajw',

This IS the thread announcing Springer's appearance on the television special.

This is the FIRST thread regarding this subject. It was started by the site owner, Skeptic Overload on 13-2-2007 at 12:30 pm, and in his opening post announcing this subject he states:

"This is exciting news for ATS, and vindication for all of Springer's hard work behind the scenes. Stay tuned... this is going to get good."

The man said "STAY TUNED" He did not say "search all of ats" nor did he say "search the entire world wide web".

So I book marked this thread and I 'stayed tuned'.

Four months later, on 26-6-2007 at 8:32 pm a member called 'Gools' (not a site owner) posted a link to a thread called "Update on the O'hare TV Special" That thread can be found here:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

That thread was started by Springer (a site owner) on 25-6-2007 at 1:47 pm, and in his opening post he states quite clearly "When I get a firm broadcast date I'll update here."

So now there are two threads we have to "Stay Tuned" to. I book marked the new thread and I 'stayed tuned' to that one also.

As you can plainly see, the new thread has NEVER been updated by Springer, there is no "firm broadcast date" posted there or here.

When I ask what happened to the show neither Springer nor Skeptic Overlord have opted to comment. Rather, ats members tell me what an idiot I am, how lazy I am for 'staying tuned' to the threads I was told to stay tuned to, and they redirect me to an ats owned and sponsored POD CAST.

Fine.

An examination of THAT page, which can be found here:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

shows that no firm broadcast date was ever posted by either Springer or Skeptic Overlord.

Reading between the lines, member 'zysin5' IMPLIES that the show was broadcast on national television on October 12th, 2007 but it is not clearly stated.

Reading Dave Rabbits thread, it seems that only one person (zysin5) actually saw this program on television. Everyone else seems to have only watched the edited pod cast, and many of them had great difficulty in doing so.

A search of the Travel Channel web site indicates that there was a program called "Mysterious Journeys - Alien Hotspots" that aired on October 12th, 2007 at 9:00 pm and the program was one hour in duration.

The description of that show is as follows:

"From the mystical structures of Stonehenge to Nevada's infamous Area 51, go on a voyage to locales long rumored to be the hotbeds of extraterrestrial appearances. Have aliens had a hand in Easter Island's statues or the crash at Roswell?"

travel.discovery.com...

There is NO mention of the Chicago O'Hare event in this program description.

Fine. So be it.

If that is the program then why was / is it so hard for anyone to say "The program aired on October 12th, 2007 at 9:00 pm on the Travel Channel" rather than give us the run around?

Why didn't the threads we were told to "Stay Tuned" to contain the information?

Why didn't Springer update his thread with the Firm Broadcast Date as he claimed he would do?

Why was something so important made so difficult to find by the same people who, at one time, made the information so EASY to find?

To the Members who find me lazy and disrespectful; go to hades.

To Skeptic Overlord and Springer: I apologize to you for the resentment and animosity expressed in this post but the fact remains that I did "Stay Tuned" and I did check back often for a "firm broadcast date". NO information was given in the locations we were told to monitor and I am very disappointed in you.

You guys dropped the ball and I am frustrated and saddened by this.

For those interested in perhaps seeing a re-broadcast of this program the Travel Channel TV Listings for the "Mysterious Journeys" program can be found here:

No comments tezzajw? Well, no matter.

But while we are on the subject of lazy ats members I have been waiting for someone to comment on this for many months now.

Either other people are also waiting for someone comment, or (and this is my suspicion) no one has noticed it.

The problem has to do with something Springer (site owner) posted on 14-2-2007 at 11:26 am:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

The interesting item is this line:

"For the last 2 months I have been in daily contact with the producers, basically putting the whole show together with them."

On the surface this seems fine. More than fine. It seems great. We must applaud the man for all the hard work he has done regarding this issue.

But the briefest glimpse at the date and a minimum of math reveals an interesting problem.

Two months prior to February 14th 2007 is December 14th 2006.

Now we must ask ourselves, "What was happening on December 14th 2006?"

The answer is nothing.

Absolutely Nothing. There was No picture, No witnesses, and only a few pages of uninterested / uninteresting comments on the Chicago O'Hare UFO thread.

Indeed, there was very little comment or 'hoopla' on the internet regarding this subject until well into January of 2007, and not until February of 2007 did the story really take off.

But here Springer is working hard behind the scenes with large media people on a story that did not even exist yet.

And not one ats member has commented on this apparent discrepancy.

Shame on all of you.

Now of course what Springer "meant" to say was something like "two weeks" and not "two months", but that is not the point.

The point is that not one diligent ats member, not even Springer himself (who, incidentally, edited his post after posting it) caught this error and commented upon it (or corrected it)

(And if it was NOT an error, then we must ask WHY he was doing that then.)

No, we can forgive Springer for his "typo". But what is the ats memberships excuse? Springer, tezzajw, every one who has read this thread, were they ALL lazy?

Or am I the only lazy one here?

I'm sorry tezzajw, I don't mean to be attacking you but your statements irked me, your links did not work and the download did not work. No matter. I was never interested in an internet edited podcast but the National Broadcast of this story which I may now never get to see because it was inadequetly advertised in the locations we were told to stay tuned to.

Just as your very long, tedious posts have also irked me, daystrom - so that's cool. I understand where you're coming from, but I don't agree with the basis of your complaint. If you want something hard enough, you'll do the work to find it. Maybe there's a lesson for you - don't trust website owners, hey? We're supposed to learn something new every day, right?

If you've got an issue with Springer, then why don't you U2U him? You flagged the thread, it never got updated and you missed the show on TV. Take it up with Springer, as I'm sure that he will be happy to answer your questions.

All I can suggest is that if you think something is THAT important and you want to know about it, then why don't you check the website every day, like other members do? If you had done so, then you would have been able to type your comments, live, as the TV show was being broadcast.

tezzajw,

You are of course quite correct. I made the fundimental mistake of trusting the site owners when I ASSUMED they would update the threads they said they would update.

I DID check the threads everyday, but not the Entire web site.

The fault is mine and I accept responsiblity for it.

I am glad we can be irked and still civil, I see this as a positive thing. I hope I have not crossed too far over the line with you.

Now I would like to ask you this: Did you see the program on television or just the podcast and what do you think about Springers "two month" remark?

Actually you make very little sense...

If you look at the statistics you will see the Alien/UFO threads are very popular...

But there is a simple test... set up an anonymous vote...
I am pretty sure I can predict the results though...

What really doesn't make sense is that with all the subjects covered by ATS... with all the varied threads, and the fact that you could start a thread on any topic you want... I cannot fathom the fact that rather than create constructive threads on topics you consider important and actually contribute something...

You continuously spend your time in the very threads you are protesting and harass those that like the subjects...

This does not seem like the actions of a sane person IMO

I live in Australia, so I did not see the show on TV. I only have access to a poor quality 56K dial-up from home. Until recently, it has not been practical for me to try and download large files of any descritpion (Just like Gary McKinnon. I KNOW why he never got the chance to save large picture files!!! Dial-up is painful!!!). I will see the podcast, as soon as I am able to download it.

and what do you think about Springers "two month" remark?

I didn't register here until February 11 2007, so I missed the early reports on O'Hare. Maybe Springer has inside information to events like O'Hare? I don't know. He could have been working on an early lead straight after stories were surfacing. Even if it was a typo of "months" for "weeks", then I can forgive him for it. Everyone makes mistakes, it's part of the human condition.
