Not only is this type of rhetoric unhelpful in easing tension in a volatile area, it should remove any doubt as to what Ahmadinejad's intent is, for doubters.

Here's an excerpt from the above link-

Iran: Israel, US will soon die

Ahmadinejad: Be assured that the US and Israel will soon end lives

Yaakov Lappin Published: 01.23.07, 22:24

Israel and the United States will soon be destroyed, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday during a meeting with Syria's foreign minister, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) website said in a report.

"Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad… assured that the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel will soon come to the end of their lives," the Iranian president was quoted as saying.

"Sparking discord among Muslims, especially between the Shiites and Sunnis, is a plot hatched by the Zionists and the US for dominating regional nations and looting their resources," Ahmadinejad added, according to the report.

but the problem is your getting this statement, and reading into it what you want. you have to understand the context in which it was given in.

I have one or two ideas about all this and him trying to provoke the US/Isreal to respond...

1) He is a puppet for US/Isreali interests and is being told to provoke us so that the world accepts it whenever US/Isreal decides to start dropping bombs...

2) He knows that provoking the US/Isreal to attack Iran will solidify Muslims into a Jihad state of mind against western aggressors, as well as turn the rest of the world against US/Isreal even further.

Just my thoughts about why he'd continually push us with his words and actions...

As long as we listen (the government), there will be threats every day.

I always thought it was odd how it is that anyone Bush wants to attack engages him, as if they want to help him along.

bit like those 1984 movie's. people speculate than the iranian leader is like saddam h (he was working for the west also), where is just there to make things easier for western interests, even though the public may not think it.

everything is blurred these days, and that leader just cannot be totally isolated from things like isreali, english, and american intelligence services. he does seem to do these things alot, and just is convienient that someone like him is around when they need someone like him.

rhetoric is just a form a propganda, shame that most take his words on face value.

that brings up a good point, of how when someone speaks we try to see what they say, through our eyes and experience in this world.

It's a convenient answer to say anyone that stands up to Bush, is obviously working with Bush/Israel and corporations, to facilitate their interests. It's amazing how large this "conspiracy" is in our ability to install a large number of puppet instigator governments, in order to justify our desire to be in a constant state of war, or of course if that isn't it, then it was that he was trying to solidify the Islamic world againt the west. It's one of those things, or maybe something else, but definitely not what his public statements would have us believe. Sometimes, things are what they seem to be.

Ynet is own by Murdoch. Propaganda. And the arabs states who agree with the US, they are puppets. Egypt, Lebanon, Kuweit, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, United Arabs Emirates... All US puppets, so it's sure that they agree.

So are the only reliable sources of info anti-US, as everything else is propaganda? How is quoting what someone said propaganda? If any other news source had quoted him, would they be guilty of propaganda too? What's the definition of propaganda by the way- anything that shows the US in a good light, or it's enemies in a bad light?

More threats from Iran

Threats ?

From Iran ?

Really?

And we know that HOW ? WHO told us this ?

Aaaaahhhh. The WHORE MEDIA !

WHO owns and controls the whore media ?

Is the same group of people who dominate US and UK politicians ?

Would that be the same group of people who stand to GAIN so much from war with Iran ?

In the same way they planned and orchestrated the war on Iraq ?

Riiiiiiiiight.

Well, until Iran threatens ME and MY country, I'm not buying a word of it.

In short, I believe the whore media is LYING again. As usual.

Is the whore media manipulating YOU ? Is it pushing your buttons ?

Why LET it ?

I hope you're right, but it'd sure be irresponsible to ignore threats, and take one in the shorts.

What is his exact quote? It seems many people like to paraphrase him and misquote his words. If anyone can post his exact words, even in Farsi, I could translate what he really says.

I wouldnt trust the news source. The news is from somewhere from something I dont trust and also all news is paid for by the government. That and it's obvious propeganda to get us into war, and I believe he is referring to the next president that is going to be in power that will do what he wants (most likely).
. It's propeganda! same way we got us into Iraq and the news source is not reliable at all, so I wouldnt trust it. Probabl libel. We told Iran we wouldnt attack them and we are apparently going to be meeting with them soon to talk about Iraq.

Until Iran goes beyond "sabre rattling" don't get too excited and start dropping nukes on this planet. Chill out and have a york peppermint pattie. It's cool, fool, until they cross the line.

Scott Ritter sums it up nicely here regarding Iran!

I think bu$h and the these psychopaths actually want to bring an end to civilization.

This is all propaganda!

Time for another false flag terror attack. They will have to out do 9/11.

I wonder which city it will be this time?

This is like every bloody war the U.S has engaged in; it's nothing but propaganda at work trying to make the American public uniform in conscious against those that would week to harm them. Threats from Iran are and should be taken seriously, but not as seriously as those given by the United States who have in the past been known to act out on threats whereas Iran has not. This is imperative to understand: the ultimate end to this will become of a bloody slaughter which can amount to millions if the United States does not regress its' current policy, and more importantly, if this current administration is derided from it's current mentality on handling the Middle East and the War on Terrorism.

This is a president that does not care what the public or notables say, he's myopic and delusional, an absolute madman if you ask me.

The following is an excerpt from the official response by the Democratic Party to President George W Bush's State of the Union Address. The statement was made by Senator Jim Webb.

'Hostage nation'

The president took us into this war recklessly.

He disregarded warnings from the national security adviser during the first Gulf War, the chief of staff of the army, two former commanding generals of the Central Command, whose jurisdiction includes Iraq, the director of operations on the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and many, many others with great integrity and long experience in national security affairs.

We are now, as a nation, held hostage to the predictable - and predicted - disarray that has followed.

The war's costs to our nation have been staggering.

Financially.

The damage to our reputation around the world. The lost opportunities to defeat the forces of international terrorism.

And especially the precious blood of our citizens who have stepped forward to serve.

Everything we hear and read about must be taken very critically or it could cost us dearly as it has so many times before in the past.
