The great man must be turning in his grave.

Hodgson isn't fit to clean his shoes, and the owners aren't fit to be mentioned in the same breath.

Damn Moores and Parry - sold us out for an extra couple of mil and some job security.

The asset stripping continues, with some of our most promising young players being sold.

latest news is Lauri Dalla Valle & Alex Kacaniklic to go to fulham as part of a deal to bring in konchesky.

This after Nemeth and San Jose have both been sold, amongst others.

Buying for the now and neglecting the future.

This mess is going to take a LONG time to put right, thanks to our owners.

Add Babel to that list - £9 million apparently, flying to Spurs as we speak.

Heard 11.5 bandied about as well - pity about Babel, he has all the attributes to be a great player but seems to be missing something. Possibly between the ears...

All this is simply to decrease the wage bill in order to hold out for the TV money next year when the new rules kick in.

And hodgson is helping with this - like I said, yes man.

Who the hell destroys a very good youth set up for short term gain?

At least Pacheco is staying.

Fulham have confirmed Paul Konchesky has left the club to join Liverpool. We are still awaiting official confirmation from Liverpool on the deal. - Sky Sports News

Carlton Cole on his way too, it seems.

And the 2 youngsters going the other way

Oh, please god, not Carlton Cole.

It's a shame about the youngsters but we desperately needed a left back and if that's what it took then so be it.

I actually quite like Cole, scoring 12 goals in a struggling West Ham side wasn't too shabby at all. Watching him a few times last year he always impressed me.

It isn't definite yet though.

Yes, we needed a left back, but to give up one of the most promising 18 year olds around is more than a little depressing, especially for a left back of limited ability.

For me, Cole is a poor mans Heskey - which says it all really.

Route one stuff coming this season - lump it up to cole, who tries to bring it down for Torres or a midfielder to get onto.

Looks like Babel isn't going - twitter.com...

I can't see Carlton Cole starting as long as Joe is fit and available but I think he's a great sub to throw on and chase a game out. West Ham didn't use him as a target man so I don't see why we should, at least not a conventional target man anyway.

David Ngog, scores one goal every 2 games at the tender age of 21.

Carlton Cole has never got more than 1 in 4.

That says it all, and it's not like he's better than we already have.

If we're going to sign a striker, sign one who is good enough to be above Ngog and Kuyt in the pecking order.

Cole isn't, and the only reason to buy him is to hoof the ball up to him, and hope.

Well, it doesn't look like it matters any more, the deal is off apparently. Rumours about Benzema at the moment. Just flew into London.

Is that the rumouur about a 1 year loan with option to buy for 16 mil?

If he's flown into london, that would tie in with the cole rumours - the club doctor was supposed to be down there for cole medical.

Although how they can get a medical done in an hour is beyond me.

Yer, the club Doc is down there but I don't think it's a solid rumour, not even sure if Benzema is definitely in London, that picture could be old. Just seems like some body muddying the waters but who knows.

Fingers crossed, he's a top player.

Not gonna happen - apparently a wind up.

So, barring some late breaking news, that's it.

I put the profit for the 2 yanks to pay off their debts/line their pockets somewhere in the region of £30 million, with our wonderful new manager helping them cull the squad of some good players, and plenty of promising young players.

Well yeah that seems to be it.... no great last minute signings and bar Meireles, No great signings at all near the end.

Obviously Cole and Jovanović are fantastic signings but I mean towards the end of the window.

So our dilapidated and bare squad is now even barer?

I'm with you Budski on the youth but mate... John Welsh and Guthrie and many, many others who just never got to play... all well and good having these great youngsters but if they don't get a game...
Who was the last great youth player brought through the system who actually features regularly?

Pisses me off that we never play our quality youth players...

Lauri Dalla Valle looks a real quality player, as does Pacheco..... I really hope the latter features this season because if not, we'll lose him too.
