Sergei Rebrov is ready to return to Tottenham and fight for a first-team place under new coach Jacques Santini, according to his agent.

The French manager will take charge at White Hart Lane after Euro 2004 and has vowed to transform the fortunes of the ailing north London club.

With Santini and new sporting director Frank Arnesen set to review the state of the current playing staff before deciding on any new additions, the door could be open for Rebrov to return and rebuild his Spurs career.

The Ukrainian striker cost Tottenham a club-record 11m from Dynamo Kiev in the summer of 2000.

I noticed spurs have been linked with almost everyone again. It will be interesting to see if they get anyone any good. All they seemed to be linked with at the moment is older players comming to the end of their career, i guess thats about par for them.

Tottenham's hopes of signing Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids have been dashed by his agreement to join Barcelona after Euro 2004.
Davids, who has been on loan at Barca, is a free agent after leaving Juventus.

Spurs reportedly offered 6m over two years but Holland coach Henk ten Cate said he was moving to the Nou Camp.

Tottenham are being linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven's Denmark international winger Dennis Rommedahl, according to reports in Holland.
The 25-year-old, who is currently away with Denmark in Euro 2004, is reportedly valued in the 3 million euro's bracket by the Philips Stadion outfit.

Spurs' new technical director Frank Arnesen is well aware of the pacey wide man's talents from his time in Eredivisie football with PSV.

Bundesliga outfit Hamburg were tracking Rommedahl back in April, but called off the chase after failing to match PSV's evaluation of the player.

Tottenham have Wales international Simon Davies out wide on the right, but are looking for reinforcements following the release of Darren Anderton.

Siena midfielder Rodrigo Taddei has emerged as a potential target for new-look Tottenham.

Spurs' new manager Jacques Santini is likely to draw up a short-list of possible summer signings and has already showed an interest in fellow Frenchmen Sylvain Wiltord and Bixente Lizarazu.

Reports in Italy are claiming the France coach is now looking further afield for new recruits with the talented Brazilian in his sights.

Taddei is under contract to Siena until 2005 and has already caught the attention of Serie A giants Internazionale and Lazio.

Tottenham's attempts to sign Edgar Davids may be rekindled after Barcelona said they were withdrawing their contract offer to the midfielder.

Free agent Davids has been on loan at Barcelona but failed to meet a deadline set by the Nou Camp club about whether he would be accepting a deal from them.

And Spurs will be alerted after they were believed to have also made him an offer of 6m over two years.

New Spurs boss Jacques Santini insisted he will not arrive at White Hart Lane as damaged goods after France's humiliating Euro 2004 exit against Greece.

The holders were on the receiving end of the tournament's biggest shock as they went down 1-0 to rank outsiders Greece in the quarter-final in Lisbon.

It made it a painful farewell for Santini, who quits the job after two years to take over at Spurs.

But he was in defiant mood as he was put under the microscope following France's surprise defeat.

Santini said: "Whatever my future holds, and at the beginning of my new experience in England, I will always be very determined.

After watching Trezaguae (sp?) spit all over the santani it makes you wonder if he has the man management skills. Could this be another big management flop spurs have got? When you coach a international side you have the cream of your country to choose from. He has the pick of the flops to choose from at spurs and i can see him failing miserbly...(except Defoe)

Portugal striker Helder Postiga has warned Tottenham's new manager Jacques Santini that he only wants to return to the club if he is given a proper chance to prove his worth.

Postiga suffered a wretched season in his first year at Spurs after signing from Porto, but has become a hero in his country after scoring the equaliser against England in the Euro 2004 quarter-finals and then an outrageous chipped penalty in the shoot-out.

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have failed with a bid for Portugal left back Nuno Valente, while Birmingham City are also believed to have joined Bolton in the race for his signature.

Spurs are understood to have offered Porto the chance to take Helder Postiga back to Estadio do Dragao - less than 12 months after he departed for North London.

However, Porto president Pinta da Costa has dismissed the deal - but Spurs are still interested in a move for the 29-year-old.

Tottenham Hotspur have claimed they turned down an offer from Porto for Portuguese international striker Helder Postiga.
It had been suggested that Spurs made a move for talented Porto midfielder Nuno Valente, but the North London club have insisted that those reports are wide of the mark.

Postiga has fired a warning to Spurs, saying he will return from Euro 2004 and seek assurances about his future from new manager Jacques Santini.

The forward has claimed he will look to move on if he is not handed a run in the first team, but Spurs expect him to start the season at White Hart Lane.

Denmark international Thomas Helveg has confirmed he is contemplating moving to Tottenham.

The Internazionale full back is quitting Milan after his contract at Giuseppe Meazza expired and Everton are also understood to be admirers of his abilities.

The 33-year-old is keen to enjoy a Premiership pay-day before he retires and the opportunity to play under Spurs director of football Frank Arnesen, a fellow Dane, is an attractive one.

Daniel Levy unveiled Tottenham's new management trio on Wednesday and likened the continental-style set-up to that of mighty Real Madrid.

Tottenham chairman Levy admitted the previous regime of David Pleat and Glenn Hoddle had resulted in disharmony at the club, but said he was confident he had got it right this time with the appointments of Frank Arnesen, Jacques Santini and Martin Jol. Chris Hughton will remain at the club as assistant coach.

Tottenham have signed Porto midfielder Pedro Mendes in a deal which takes striker Helder Postiga back to Portugal.

Spurs had been looking to offload Postiga, who failed to impress last season, despite his goal against England in the Euro 2004 quarter-final which the host nation eventually won on penalties.

Porto have agreed to pay up to 5million for Postiga with Spurs spending 2million for the services of 25-year-old midfielder Mendes.

The White Hart Lane club have also confirmed to the Stock Exchange that they have agreed to pay Fulham an undisclosed fee for 24-year-old midfielder Davis who has agreed a four-year contract.
