hes done really well at celtic, and hes a scottish player.

Martin O'Neill will reward Jackie McNamara with a new two-year contract after his performances over the past few seasons as stand-in captain.

In the absence of Paul Lambert, the 31-year-old has been superb for Celtic and will be recognised for ten years' service with a testimonial this summer.

O'Neill enthused about the Scottish international's role at the club, and described how he deserved all the plaudits coming his way.

Celtic could be on the verge of winning the race to sign Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz. Henchoz is free to leave Anfield during the transfer window and has been attracting interest from clubs north and south of the border. But his agent has now revealed Celtic have tabled an offer and that Henchoz will make a decision one way or another on Thursday.

Celtic have handed a trial to Cameroon defender Bill Tchato. The Kaiserlautern ace is currently training with the Celtic first team squad in a bid to win a move to Parkhead. Premiership duo Charlton and Bolton are both reported to be keen on Tchato, but Celtic are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by taking him to Parkhead on trial.

Celtic have completed the signing of Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz. The Swiss defender has penned a short-term deal with The Bhoys and will remain until the end of the season. Henchoz had been a key player under former manager Gerrard Houllier, but has fallen out of favour under new boss Rafa Benitez.

thanks Sir for breaking the news. i just checked sky sports there but they are still waiting for an update.

and we got rid of camara

Southampton have completed the loan capture of Henri Camara from Wolves.

Camara had been in the middle of a similar spell at Celtic, but he opted to end his stint with The Bhoys when being informed of interest from The Premiership.

Wolves were initially reluctant to allow Camara to end his spell with Celtic and head to the South Coast, but Saints were able to smooth the deal with a six-figure compensation package.

I heard it on the radio!

They must have been waiting on getting rid of Camara before they got someone else. O'neil is certainly a shrewd man and bellamy will be a potent force in the scottish league. Could be a move that wins them the title.

when shearer and bellamy where playing together regulary, and he was playing as a striker, i thought he was a great striker, he has soo much pace. and hes he pretty direct too. camara tended to go to the wings when the ball was played forward and did daft things hehe.

bellamy of the last while, he aint been as good as he was. playing out of position mostly will affect how good he can be. but he did prove at one stage he was lighting quick and could score goals.

and its not bad business getting rid of camara and getting belamy in his place. cant wait too see him play

heres an update with o'neil and the player talking about the move

Scottish champions Celtic have completed the signing of Newcastle's Craig Bellamy.

Bellamy has joined Celtic on loan until the end of the season after completing his move to Glasgow on Monday evening.

The Scottish giants moved for Bellamy after he rejected a £6 million move to Birmingham City.

"Obviously, when a club like Celtic are interested in you, you take notice," said Bellamy.

just to follow up the good news TRD has said of

Bobo Balde has pledged his future to Celtic by signing a new four-and-a-half-year deal at Parkhead.

The giant defender was strongly linked with a move to England during the January transfer window.

Balde's current deal was due to expire in the summer and it was feared that he may leave on a free in the summer, or sign a pre-contract with a new club in January.

i thought with henchoz's arrival. it was spellingh the end of bobo. middlesbrough sounded really keen on him. and as soon as the window closed. people thought they are waiting till the end of the season and get him for free.

at the back, him at varga have been a great pairing. and we aint got the money to replace him easily
