I definitely think something/one doesn't want us poking around too much.

I read somewhere that there was still some ancient martian defence mechanism still functional orbiting the planet even though the occupants are long gone. I'll try find the story.

I doubt very much that they are tampering with this, as far as I believe the Goverment on Earth and the ET's have a deal going on and if they didnt want probes on Mars we wouldnt put them there. I dont think they serve any purpose tbh, the goverment knows there is life so its all a waste of money.

I think that just the volume of how many failed (whether it be intentional or not) probes proves something else is definitely going on. If there is life on mars, it definitely isn't on the surface.

Wait, what am I missing?

I thought the most recent mars things were all successful - the phoenix mars lander which was only a few weeks ago, the mars orbiter, spirit and opportunity.

Where are our probes getting destroyed again?

Apparently only the probes that have seen something they weren't supposed have been lost or destroyed, since that is of course the only explanation, seeing as how easy it is to send probe the small distance between planets.

Look, the Voyager probes and many others were not perfect, many things did go wrong, heck, look at the Hubble's history, and see hopw much trouble it had, and it was in Earth orbit.
The thing is, however, that despite malfunctions the scientists were able to either work around them, or find other uses for the probes.
