Speaker, i know we've talked about this before, but if you keep claiming Jesus isn't who he said he is, then you're believing a lie.

Once again, for every quote that you claim that he implied that he was God,I can show you four where he only made the claim that he was the SON of God... And no,I don't believe in lies, Thank ya..

I don't know if Jesus is attacked more than other religious figures. I do feel there's a preponderance of sarcastic criticism against Jesus or christianity on certain sites while at the same time a tendency to act as apologists for the muslim faith that is currently also under terrible strain.

I think it's a form of reverse rascism or a way of acting as apologists for the historical colonialism of christianity. A great deal of blood has been shed under the justification of christianizing the pagan.

I feel it's a bit naive to ignore the same sentiments now being expressed very vocally by certain segments of Islam. That is, the need to convert non-believers to the 'faith.'

Although I don't think the answer to fundamentalist dogma should be more fundamentalist dogma.

Jesus did say one could blaspheme his name and be forgiven. It's not such a bad thing that people feel free enough to make fun of him. Too bad equal satire directed at other faiths often results in execution.

"You will all deny me."

here is a good one for you:

Revelation 22:6-16
The Coming of Jesus

6And he said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place."

7"And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."

8I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, 9but he said to me, "You must not do that! I am a fellow servant[d] with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God."

10And he said to me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. 11Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy."

12"Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done. 13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."

14Blessed are those who wash their robes,[e] so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. 15Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

16"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."

He is the Alpha and the Omega huh? sounds good enough for me.

If you still don't believe, then I guess we'll just have to wait until we die.

Clear, there is no doubt that there has been a fair share of criticism of the Christian and Muslim faiths on this site.. However, that cannot be the equivalent of attacking Christ..It's not the same thing at all..

By the way, considering that there is a revamped crusade going on, it is no wonder that Islam and christianity are copming under heavy fire. People are tired of the fighting and killing in the name of these two religions. People are sick of it..

Humble, we have already had this debate... No sense in rehashing it here... This thread is about your assumption that Christ is somehow being attacked.. Let's not derail the thread by discussing whether Christ is the SON of God or God himself..

Yes it is. humble one, could you please provide your indications of these many attacks against Christ? If not, the premise of this thread is bogus. Show me where you've read or heard these attacks.

Well, i have read it all over this site, saying he never existed, that he was gay, that he was born of an adulterous relationship and who knows what the eff else.

Humble, why even pay any attention to a poster who claims that "Jesus was gay?"
I mean, really!! I haven't even come across a thread like that because I don't look for it and if I did,I wouldn't waste my time reading it.

Speaker, not only have i read it here, but on many other websites as well, these are sites that try to humanize Jesus too much, and question why he didn't have a wife, especially since it was so common for a jewish man to get married at that time.

:shk: I know that such theories exist.. However,I haven't really seen the whole "Jesus is gay" thing go on here at ATS,nor do I think that it has or ever will.. I suspect that such a thread would cause such a stir, even amongst people who don't believe in God, at ATS that the moderators would have to remove any such thread.

read greatTechs who has read the bible thread, some guy in there stated that Jesus might have been gay because of the whole "The apostle that Jesus loved" thing

It effin' pissed me off.

Humble, that is one post out of how many? That is one posters' opinion.. How can you relate that to a whole site? You won't find any threads here titled "Christ was gay," or anything else.. I don't know, you may now that we have had such a discussion about it,but it's not likely to get a very appealing response..

the assertion that a figure exists is not an attack on a figure, merely an attack on the historicity of said figure

so what if the boy who cried wolf is fake, the point gets across, doesn't it?

If you'll read madness' posts, you'll see that he isn't a Christian at all. Here you are complaining about people attacking Christ and yet you attack other people's beliefs and religion every chance you get. What is up with that?

Do you know what humble means?

After all, someone believing Jesus may have been gay or married or never existed is just someone's beliefs, just like your beliefs about Jesus and God. Why are your beliefs any more valid than other people's? Why must everyone agree with your belief system, else be worthy of "effin' pissing you off"? What kind of talk is that for a humble Christian, anyway??? Are your beliefs so fragile that they can't withstand a little scrutiny?

I am highly confused by you, son...

Humble, I went to the thread that you mentioned and found the statement that you are so hot under the collar about

The Dark Lord Said

This ( depending on your interpretation) could be Lazarus ( who IS identified in several places as He Whom Jeshua Loved(( could this be an illusion to an homosexual relationship?)). )

Firstly, Dark Lord states that it is a matter of interpretation(i.e) opinion.. Secondly, he is not really making a comment about Jesus.... He is asking a question...

Benevolent, I think what Humble means is that it would be more miraculous that Christianity had formed without the figure of Christ than what it would be if Christ had actually existed.

SpeakerofTruth, I see what you're saying. But there are many stories that have withstood the test of time that were based on fictional characters. Jesus could have been a fictional character. Religions have been formed on a LOT less.

I'll tell you what kind of talk that is, it is righteously angry talk, that's what it is.

You have heard of God's anger haven't you?
