I'm old and I love it, it's all still there, and can be found, I like the dark feel, and actually I find posts easier to read.

Sometimes change is hard to take when it is sudden, so why not give it some time, see how you adjust to it?

The only thing I noticed was after reading here for a while, and then going to CNN.com it was like someone hit me in the face with high beams.

It's all good

IMO

Personally, It's hard to read for me, for more than a few minutes.

The button graphics and icons are fantastic.

Most browsers allow you to change the colors of both text and backgrounds displayed. It should be in your options. I have the same grey background, but black text. Soooo much easier on the eyes.
The only problem with this is, all the black goes grey, so the nice accenting is gone; but I'm here to read the content, so it is acceptable.

Nice work, great design.

Maybe you can just change the text in threads to black? I can deal with the home pages.

:edit: oh btw, where is the lightest/darkest settings I've seen mentioned? I can't see them.

lol, SO. Well, that is certainly better now in "Recent Posts." At least for me. In fact, it is almost too much going the other way now! But I'll take that anyday over what was there with all that positive polarity.

And Val, lol. Age discrimination suit?
I wasn't suggesting anything quite that drastic, but I feel your pain. Or did, at least. It appears that SO is back at it, experimenting, and that's great. Don't give up, Val, there is always hope.

But hey, thanks SO for at least listening and considering, and trying new things. The rest of it is great- love the new forum groups, and the new recent group posts too. It might be tricky to achieve contrast there somewhat, if all the group forums are color grouped as well.

For people that are here a lot, for like hours on end, the "Recent Posts" button is gonna get used a lot, as people try to stay on top of what is current. I just thought it important that the resulting list be very readable. To all.

Wow, and magical changes still popping up!

Go, SO, Go!

Hope you're at least taking the appropriate 'Dark Brew' breaks.

Just another note of appreciation,
amongst all the impatience.

Cheers! to ya.

good work so far

That darkest >> lightest option is cutting the Gordian knot. Isn't it? My applause for it.

Personally I prefer the middle of the road, the dark/light options, can't tell yet which one for the better, but I would like to be able to switch between two predestined modes at any post...
One more button per post!?

I guess you'll get the shades of the tagged panes adjusted along the way.
I think the URLs need to stand out a little more aspecially in the darker options.

Looks great so far, and thank you so much for the lighter options for us with reduced capability of the receptors of our retina.

Only on thread pages so far, I think.

This thread is in the general forum group. | group active threads | group 20 new posts | group popular threads | myRecent

Just above page numbers.

Hopefully , we'll get a similar button on the 'recent posts' main page.

*crosses fingers*

The Parallelogram -

I may have misread your meaning.

But to clarify , you know there is a 'recent posts' button at the top of all the pages, right?

Of course this is different from 'My recent', which I mentioned previously.

I like the new look of the website, it's a great addition. I have a question and I don't know if it has been answered, there is a good portion to the right of my screen that is not being used, is it just my computer or is it ATS?

One thing I don't like about the new addition is that the active threads have been moved to the left kinda making them appear out of center view and unimportant..anyone else getting that?

There is now a standard layout size which will allow ATS to be optimized easier instead of trying to "manage" the look for every possible size.

What works for 800x600 might not work for 1024x768 or higher. Having a set size is a much better option for all users AND for updating things on the site easier.

There is a way to implement multiple color schemes etc.. Using the php, css, cookies, and php sessions if people have their cookies disabled. Just depends on how this board is setup. If its like most boards I've seen its going to take alot of work. If not it wouldnt be to hard to make it as easy as clicking a square color in a "click here for your prefrence" on the page that changes everything includeing font size, font color, and the list goes on. That would please everyone. If its based upon the database or a config file its going to take them quite a while to make it happen. Just throwing it out there. It can be done.

At the top of the threads...there ARE four options from darkest to lightest.

It's easier on the eyes to have a black background. I don't know about y'all, but I read a LOT on the computer, and having a bright white light glaring at me is never pleasant. I'm reading off a computer ALL DAY at work, then I come home and spend half my free time reading various websites, responding to email, and of course, hanging around ATS, soaking up info. I'm pleased with the new look, aesthetically, but it's also a practical change.

If others are having problems seeing the text, they can adjust their screen to lighten it up, and if folks are having other assorted problems with the change (not related to visibility) they can just lighten up themselves.

For me, the darkest setting is perfect.

Kudos, SO.
