This can go in this thread. Poli-tricks at it best.

Democratic campaign operatives pushed newspapers to write about then-Rep. Mark Foley's e-mails to teenage pages in the hope that a scandal would emerge before the midterm elections, according to a House ethics report.

Oh Roper, stop with the desperate attempts to pin the dems down as evildoers. While i agree with the jest of your post that both parties are no good, i'd say if you check Abramoff out, he's just about been in bed with the Bush family (which he has denied thousands of meetings), flat out lied by saying "Yea yea, that's a pic of Abramoff but i hardly knew him"
- and so much more...ROLFMAO...

Nice try my little friend.

Both parties limp with the same foot and neither are to be trusted. NO?

No, no politician can be trusted. BUT I am just pointing out some facts. If this past congress is the most corrupt as some on this board are saying, then the Demo-rats have had a hand in that corruption. The silence from the accusers is ear shattering.

Would you take a look at Pelosi? Talk about corruption!

washingtontimes.com...

House Republicans yesterday declared "something fishy" about the major tuna company in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco district being exempted from the minimum-wage increase that Democrats approved this week.

AND get this boys and girls.... A spokeswoman for Mrs. Pelosi said Wednesday that the speaker has not been lobbied in any way by StarKist or Del Monte.

ROTFLMAO For all of you that voted for Demo-rats I salute you because you did what the News Media wanted you to do.

Puppets!

heh, she is asking for something that will cost up to 300,000 and probably more a year. isn't she supposed to be a trooper for ' global warming ' ? her and al gore have no problem flying personal jets all around the country telling us how to live our lives. the hypocrisy on the left is stunning.

honestly who does this woman think she is? word coming out of the pentagon is she is threatening to cut the military budget if she doesn't get what she wants. what a spoiled liberal these people are not going to keep the majority anymore.

Right on ape, these ppl like pelosi are spoiled little brats who are use to getting their way. Its a one way street with these ppl. This is really getting ridiculous. I would feel somewhat more content if we had a bunch of corrupt monkeys running things rather then these current rat bastards who are makeing a mockery of our country.

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Congress is keeping Andrews Air Force base plenty busy this year ferrying lawmakers all over the globe at taxpayers’ expense. Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi took his wife, nine Democrats and two Republicans - Reps. Dan Lungren of California and Mike Rogers of Alabama - on a whirlwind tour of the Caribbean last week. After stops in Honduras and Mexico, they stopped in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where the delegation stayed at the five-star Caneel Bay resort.

In a separate trip to the Caribbean last week, Rep. Eliot Engel of New York squired his wife and four Democratic members to Grenada and Trinidad.

All told, the military flew at least 13 congressional delegations to various destinations during the Easter recess -- at an estimated rate of $10,000 or more per flying hour.

!0,000 dollars / flying hour??????????? Sun on the beach!

third party, this party, that party, how about no parties. you got to represent the people not your party or it's interests, until we get around to electing people on the merit of that persons character and what they as a person represent we will be stuck with the choice of this or that parties candidate and a real choice of bad or worse.

A third party would accomplish exactly nothing, though a legitimate third option is always nice.

The only way to curb is to institute term limits, you won't be in national office long enough to become corrupt. Two terms, period, just like the POTUS. Eight years total for the Senate, Twelve years for the House. There are problems with this in that a corrupt politician is already corrupt when he or she gets to Washington. At least term limits would limit the amount of money he or she can steal.

Oh...one more thing while I'm completely altering the political fabric of America...Senators and Representatives should be forbidden from seeking the Oval Office whilst still holding a seat in Congress. Supposedly, they are representing people from their states, can't do that whilst stumping in Vermont.

To put it quite simply, because most Americans are polarized to one extent or the next.

I agree, outside this little haven of more or less fee thinkers here on ATS. Much of the USA is still Republican vs. Democrat. Blindly unaware of some of the hidden larger issues in politics today. I don't mean to sound condescending by any means... But, it can be difficult not to sometimes.

Haha... If you really want to see a change. I suggest we completely reset the Federal government every 20 or 30 years and start back from scratch!

I know this radical idea would "never" happen...

man, I couldn't agree more. these career politicans are seriously running this country into the ground... term limits is a very logical solution for cleaning out washington and be rid of the feinsteins, pelosi, boxers etc etc.. serve and then GTFO, very simple.

what's sad is that alot of these politcians get right into lobbying firms in washington when they are done 'serving' and have decided to move on.. they make millions doing this.

ape. As much as I agree about Feinstein, Boxer, et al... A lot of the GOP are equally to blame for the problems in Washington. But, obviously, I agree with the sentiment.

I couldn't agree more, these 3 just really get to me on a personal level because I live in california and they are california politcians who are some of the filthiest out there. especially pelosi when she gave the order to her troops to not sign on for support of bill H.R.25..

in the end though I think we are all in agreement that with term limits we would all get what this country needs and thats fresh faces and new ideas in washington and the cleansing of old stagnant filth. maybe then the issues in this country will finally be adressed.

Well, well, well! If you can't win your case fair, then change the rules.
If the Republicans were so corrupt, why didn't they make this change?

No, the Socialist/Communist Democrats are the most evil!

After losing a string of embarrassing votes on the House floor because of procedural maneuvering, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has decided to change the current House Rules to completely shut down the floor to the minority.

The Democratic Leadership is threatening to change the current House Rules regarding the Republican right to the Motion to Recommit or the test of germaneness on the motion to recommit. This would be the first change to the germaneness rule since 1822.

In protest, the House Republicans are going to call procedural motions every half hour.

“I hope you don’t have any earmarks in the defense appropriations bills because they are gone, and you will not get any earmarks now and forever,” Murtha told Rogers, according to the draft transcript given to The Politico.

“This is not the way we do things here – and is that supposed to make me afraid of you?” Rogers replied.

“That’s the way I do it,” Murtha said.

Can you believe it?? These Democrat politicians are the MOST corrupt of the corrupt.

Do these politicians believe that they are better than the rest of the US citizens?

You bet they do.

I am so freakin' glad that no one can blame me for putting them back in power.

Pentagon officials are bracing for a fight with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) over her desire to allow lawmakers’ adult children to tag along on taxpayer-funded travel for free.

Pelosi wants them to be able to fill the role of lawmakers’ spouses when the latter are unable to make a trip because of health issues or work commitments.
