blogs.abcnews.com...

As convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff reported to federal prison today, a source close to the investigation surrounding his activities told ABC News that Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was one of the members of Congress Abramoff had allegedly implicated in his cooperation with federal prosecutors.

Sources close to the federal investigation say Abramoff has offered testimony about his contacts with "six to eight seriously corrupt Democratic senators" and an ever larger number of Republican members of Congress.

Who'd have thunk'it.
I'll bet the Demorats are scramblin'.

I'm sure it's just the right wing conspiracy.

SNAFU!!!!!

I don't think they are corrupt, "already" like it's new. I don't think they ever stopped. But it's OK cause they never said they weren't- just that the Republicans were. In fact they didn't say much of anythuing on the campaign trail. It was attacks all the time.

Murthas ABSCAM deal- Al C Hastings was the 6th judge in US history to be impeached- by a democratic legislature- and now he's celebrated. The questionable land deals, sons of Senators that are also Lobbyists, all on the left side of the ailse.

Im gettin out the popcorn. This will be a great 2 years for watching the libs screw everything up...

Well Gatordone, over the past few months this board has had threads on the Republicans being the most corrupt congress in history, HA! They can never match the Democrats, who have had decades of practice.

So," get the log out of your eye before trying to take the speck out of mine".

Or in Cowboy speak, " rave on cat s*&t, somebody will cover you up".

UNFREAK'N Believable!!! Pelosi is trying to get Murtha in. My god this guy reeks of corruption. I can't stand Pelosi so i was glad to see her showing everyone exactly what she is ... a FLAKE.

Murtha article

So why isn't this big news here on ATS? hmmm .... yeah, I know why. They are all too busy taking shots at G.W. instead of looking at what their highest ranking member - Pelosi - is trying to pull.

I don't know how to describe the way I feel about the great majority of ATSers that are so flagrantly hypocritical about "denying ignorance."

To me, ATS has become like Iraq in that maybe I shouldn't be here but where else can I go to fight all the bad guys at once?

Back on topic- We'll see today who wins. Pelosi stuck herself in a lose-lose situation though. Either Murtha wins and all the Blue Dog saviors of the Dem Party are basically slapped in the face by more of the same - or - The Dems turn on her in her first outing as leader.

We better just get used to it for now...

Oh, do save us by fighting the bad guys!

I'm going to say right out I hate Murtha. And Polsi. They are both the side of the Democrats I can't stand..

But what made you think Democrats where not corrupt before the election? The people knew they where.. they elected them anyways. American inteligence.

What the hell do you want the American people to do? We don't have ANY GOOD CHOICES. America WAS intellgent for voting these Republicans OUT. Democrats may not be much better, but this Administration cannot be allowed to do whatever they want.

Until there is a third party, then there will be always a "who do you dislike the most"!

So maybe you should think before you spew nonsense about "American intelligence". And learn about modern American politics!

Why? I don't know. The only people who will be able to do it is people who have a lot of money and influence. You and I, have no say in it as we cannot get the attention of the masses.

I'M SICK OF THEM ALL! PLEASE SOMEONE START A POLITICAL PARTY THAT REPRESENTS ME!

God I'm so tired of "the Republicans did this" and "the Democrats did that"... It's truly tiresome and gets us nowhere. The problem is our "two party" political system and it needs a drastic overhaul. And to start, we need to get rid of the corporate lobbying.

Here's a great article which says exactly how I feel...

Listen Up, You Congressional Morons!

Had each elected position on last week's ballot carried an option marked "leave this job vacant for the entire term," a much larger number of you now would be seeking new employment than you possibly can imagine.

Mecheng,I couldn't have said it better myself. I have gotten to where I hate to even go vote. Vote for who? You have two choices on the freakin ballot, neither very appealing,so,...

SOT - I voted for anyone that wasn't Republican or Democrat. I knew it wouldn't change a thing but that was my little way of sticking it to the man.

I wouldn't get into a tizzy about it just yet.

Abramoff didn't get the deal he wanted, and he's sitting in jail right now. So, he's not exactly cooperating with the Justice Department anymore. There are tens of thousands of papers and documents showing a money trail to Republicans.

His original deal was to cooperate, and Justice still nailed him to the wall anyway. So, now he's going to honor the deal at it's barest minimum, but not give Justive what they really want. He's not flipping on Tom DeLay, Rick Santorum, and their K Street Project. He's not flipping on Conrad Burns and Ralph Reed.

The Judge screwed him, and Abramoff is sitting the in joint for 6 years. So, he's offering up leads on Dems that will go nowhere. It makes great press, and gets you guys riled up, but ultimately means nothing.

He's also offering up Karl Rove's head on platter. (I think that one might just be out of spite though.)

Give it 6 months. If Justice bends and gives Abramoff a better deal, expect him to really flip. If not, expect him to sit on his hands, do nothing, and land on a golden parachute when he gets out. Unless, he doesn't like prison rape, and then he might be more inclined to talk.

Well, she got her first slap of reality today - Murtha lost to Steny Hoyer, and the vote wasn't even close!

You nailed it, FF. They're too busy building a gallows for GWB.:shk:

To put it quite simply, because most Americans are polarized to one extent or the next.

So that accounts for the American people not demanding that another voice be heard? That accounts for the fact that the same ol' two parties are the only ones who have a real voice in America? Wow...if people are that far from center...then I am ready to move because extreme "leftism" or "rightism" is just bad business.

My my, no one here defending Pelosi's choices for Speaker of the House and Head of the House Intelligence Committee? She claims to want to run the "cleanest" house we have ever seen and what does she start her cleaning with.

It's crazy they even want to appoint an impeached judge to head the intelligence committee. John Conyers led the charge to impeach the judge and now the Democrats want to reward someone for being impeached.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't talk smack about ethics. Both parties have their bad apples, why can't the leadership at least attempt to promote the good apples?

Politics- Poli= many, Tics= blood sucking insects. Such a good name for most of them.

Your never going to get a perfect party. Each one will have its ups and downs.Yes certain dems have been found corrupt but that does not represent the complete party, and by the looks of it,people seems to assume its just that. One rotten apple and the whole lot of them are rotten.Making such a conclusion is dangerous at most in todays modern world.

The fact of the matter is,the republicans had their time and unfortunatly did not do a satisfactory job and are beginning to find themselves at the lower end of the table. The dems may not be perfect, but they are the next best thing at the moment.

You say that is if it's shocking!

NEWS FLASH: Politics is Inherently Corrupt.

Politics is all about Power! As Lord Acton said it best:

"Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely"

No Offense, but that's like jumping out of your chair and saying:

What, someone actually Died in a war?

Really, what were you expecting?
