What is the Gauss Gun???

there's a certain arrogance to most people's replies here.

the current tech loosely called rail gun, and that of the gause gun is similar in effect.
but they are not by definition the same thing.

i believe that rail guns are supposed to use a row of projection enhancing points along the 'barrel' ie the projectile travels along a rail.

where as the gause method of projection, is simply a high powered snap on electromagnet causing a huge imbalance of forces on the projectile.

There is a Gauss Gun in Halo the game.
