all the Democrats need to do is impeach Bush and his administration.

Sounds like a plan, however where are the democrats? I saw no filibuster or any serious party efforts to block this legislation. Are any democrats vowing to repeal this legislation?

The democrats are so afraid of being labeled as soft on terrorism that they are hiding in a corner with their tails between their legs, rather than speaking their minds with courage. I wouldnt hold your breath waiting for the democrats to imeach bush, as more than likely they will just use the legislation passed by this administration for their own benefit and impeaching bush would impede their ability to do so.

When was the last time you saw any political party pass legislation to take power away from government?

Youre right.. about the democrats being labelled.. and thats what it is.. They will label the democrats because that's the only thing they can do.. because the Republicans know they are right..
And they didnt filibuster because it would just delay the inevitable.. nothing more.. This was going to be passed no matter what..

Sometimes you just have to fight the battle because it 's the right thing to do and you believe in the cause, the politcal consequences be damned. I challenge you to tell me what does the democratic party stand for? I see no evidence that democrats have strong feelings about anything other than getting elected. If they can not stand bravely & proudly as being opposed to abuse, torture and murder, it is unlikely that they will stand up for anything.

I'm not disagreeing with you.. What I'm saying is that.. right now, they dont have power in numbers.. When they have larger numbers in office Im sure they could be more effective.. Or.. I could be totally wrong...
Hopefully.. we'll see after November

Ok.. I know everyone has their own opinions of Alex Jones.. and he has his own agenda and usually is a big self promoter.. but.. I posted a similar story this morning, and this is what Alex jones got out of the same story I read.. it's rather disturbing... But when you see it like it's written... I brought up very similar points.. Read the article..

Yale Law Professor Bruce Ackerman states in the L.A. Times, "The compromise legislation....authorizes the president to seize American citizens as enemy combatants, even if they have never left the United States. And once thrown into military prison, they cannot expect a trial by their peers or any other of the normal protections of the Bill of Rights."

There it is..

Everyone.. please.. speak up.. if you have something to say.. let it be said....

Ok.. I'm a little baffled here... And I'll explain why.. The USA is holding 14000+ people in prisons in Iraq, Afghanistan and Cuba.. Yet of these 14000 prisoners very few of them will be affected by the new bill passed by the Government just few days ago..

In this Yahoo news story

It is stated that

WASHINGTON - The CIA interrogation program should now be back in business and terrorist trials can begin right away, according to proponents of new legislation passed by Congress. The legislation is a victory for President Bush, whose detention and interrogation program was deemed illegal by the Supreme Court in June. Bush turned to Congress and was able to push through legislation that would revive his anti-terror efforts.

Ok.. so it was deemed illegal.. So he went to all his lackey Republican counterparts and had them pass it... ok.. But getting back to my original point..

Lawmakers passed the bill and sent it Friday to the president to sign. But while the measure potentially applies to all 14,000 foreign detainees, it isn't expected to change the lives of many. Most are in military prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan and are unlikely to face aggressive, prolonged interrogations by CIA operatives. The Pentagon is expected to prosecute fewer than two dozen detainees.

So.. There's my point.. Why pass a legislation that doesnt affect anyone.. or hardly anyone.. There are 14000 foreign detainees... Of those 14000 the new bill isnt expected to affect "many"... The pentagon is expected to prosecute less than two dozen.. so who are the other 13,976? What happens to them? If they arent being prosecuted why are they being held? If they committed no crime why hold them? isnt that called... Wrongful imprisonment? Ohh I think it is.. and that's a crime..

The fact is that Bush is illegally holding these people.. and nothing is going to be done about it.. That big eared goofy grinning redneck is just going to stand around and smile and wave and lie his way out of everything.. and it's going to continue to happen..

Under the bill, Bush can convene military commissions to prosecute terror suspects so long as he follows certain guidelines. The bill also for the first time provides specific definitions of abusive treatment of prisoners, though critics say it leaves unclear precisely what methods would be allowed.

Well of course it doesnt provide information on what harsh methods are going to be used.. that's because NOTHING is going to change Bush is still going to have these people tortured illegally.. and nothing is going to be done about it.. he'll just change the law to suit his Nazi war crimes..

So far, the military says it has enough evidence to try only 10 prisoners — all held at Guantanamo. The remaining detainees, most of whom are in Iraq, can be held without charge until hostilities there end.

How can they be held until hostilities end? They havent done anything and this is wrongful imprisonment... Again.. that's illegal.. And.. I dont see "hostilities" ending any time soon.. seeing as Bush is dragging this war out for as long as possible.. It may never end..

But the remaining prisoners not prosecuted — including all of those swept up in the battlefield in Iraq — would not be guaranteed legal recourse. This would seem to have little effect on them because, practically speaking, prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan currently have virtually no way to protest their detentions in U.S. courts.

Of course they dont.. They barely have anyway to see the light of day.. they arent allowed to speak to legal counsel.. that would put the U.S in jeopardy and it would allow the Military and the CIA and probably the Bush administration to be prosecuted.. And well we cant have that now can we?

"What they've done with this legislation is wipe out — abolish — the writ of habeas corpus for any alien held by the United States anywhere in the world," said Michael Ratner at the Center for Constitutional Rights in New York

Any alien.. again I posted previously.. that anyone NOT a U.S. Citizen can be labelled a terrorist.. all Bush needs to do is go on TV and Radio and SPEW out BS that all illegal immigrants are terrorists and Americans everywhere will eat it up with a spoon and swallow it down without thinking and there will be anarchy.. It's as easy as that.. all he has to do is label illegals as terrorists and the #*@! will hit the fan..

Among those captured and detained without legal recourse is Bilal Hussein, an AP photographer who has been held without charge in Iraq by the U.S. military since April.

An Associated Press photographer being held in prison.. for what? taking pictures? doing his job? What's next.. Librarians, teachers, doctors.. infants, wives, children, parents? All being held without probable cause? Without legal recourse? and for WHAT!.. So Bush can sit on his little throne and tout "Terrorism" and "Terror"...

"I don't know anything about it," Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Friday when asked about the case.

Of course you dont Don... you know... cause it's just you JOB!! to know these things you fool!... That's what's known as deniability.. Uhh I dont know.. Yeah. I'm sure if you were being tortured like these innocent people are, You'd know something...

This is an outrage.. and personally I'm tired.. I'm tired of Bush running his gums about Terror.. and terrorism.. He's a joke.. he has NO agenda what so ever.. he has no morals and no integrity... his life revolves around this crap.. and I'm tired of it, and so should you be too... This isnt what America stands for.. this isnt what America is about.. America is about freedom.. and honour... and strength.. Not war, torture and dictators... You know.. think of it like this.. Bush went and got Saddam out of his dictatorship.. Just to fill the empty shoes left behind.. Bush is a dictator.. he's a sadist and he's a criminal... A common criminal...
