I wouldn't say that we are all in the clear yet. I know many people are all over the August 22nd threads bashing those who predicted catastrophy, but I'm guessing that they probably just got the date wrong. This is because the media machince did a good job of dropping hints about 8/22 being a big scary day. Like it or not, the government does have something to gain from us looking like a bunch of crazies predicting doomsdays.

However, in the spirit of the thread "august 22nd weird stuff," I'd like to start a thread discussing all of the weird things that did go on today:

1. Some how the Ramsey killer story was the BIGGEST news of the day. Even though this guy seems to have about as much to do with it as Lee Harvey Oswald did with JFK.

2.(Not given as much media attention as Ramsey killer) Iran's weird statement to the world. Am I the only one who thought it was weird that Iran waited until August 22nd to say, hey we're ready for some more serious talks starting TOMMOROW? Who knows if they even said that because NO ONE is releasing a transcript. Why?

3. Plane goes down and kills 170, yeah that got about 30 seconds of air time

4. Armed men are seen outside of nuclear facility, yeah I almost missed that one it was given such little press time

5. Last but not least, was I the only one who heard about N. Korea's thinnly veiled threats and testing that went on today?

For anyone who doesn't believe that the media is a state-owned propaganda machine, look at these stories. Rank them 1-5 in order of importance. Did you, or anyone else in america, put the Jon bennet case as #1? Almost NO ONE is interested in this case, besides the fact that we are all creeped out about this guy. Fox News even went on air with veiwer mail that said hey we're sick of all this Karr talk. They said they'd gotten plenty of emails about it, but why still shove it down our throats?

I'm just asking myself what were we supposed to miss today? It wouldn't be beyond reason that we would be caught looking for one thing, have the Jon bennet case waved in front of us all day, and miss something that could actually be more important.

I, for one, am more suspicious after today's events then I would have been if something that was predicted actually occured.

Opinions anyone?

i agree. we arent out of the clear. something will happen. it always was whether we predicted a date or not. we may not know what it is or who, but the united states has a lot of enemies right now. and as you pointed out stuff did happen. and iran taking over an oil rig, is big news, you would think the news would have been covering that all day since they are into the whole fear mongering thing. i mean, ive been hearing about 8/22 for the past 2 weeks non stop in segments on the news. and then today...no mention of anything that had to do with iran for more than 30 seconds. it was fricken john karr all day.

it was like

BREAKING NEWS:
john karr is in jail

BREAKING NEWS!!:
john karr is in a hearing

BREAKING NEWS!
john karr waves extradition rights

BREAKING NEWS!!:
John karr will be going to colorado at some point...we arent sure when

BREAKING NEWS!!:
people still in debate about john karr getting star treatment on thai airplane...lets discuss for 5 hours....

everytime i turned on the damn tv...this is what i heard. i mean how is this crap even news?!?!?

i think fox news has been the worst with this. because they got cavuto talking about it, then shepard smith, then that lady that has the angelina jolie lips and john voite chin, and then greta van sustran..who beats everything to death, and then of course sean hannity and allen combs have to talk about it,...and it goes on and on and on. and on top of that when they were playing the news confrence of the president they minimised his screen as they showed footage of john karr.

im not a big doomsday predictor, and i am definatly a big skeptic, but all i gotta say is if today wasnt a day of smoking screening and b.s tv, i dont know what is.

I can not agree more! What is wrong with the media? They went crazy about a murder case unsolved for 10 years... Is this normal?! Hell, no!

Whenever I switch my TV on I see John Karr this, John Karr that... Unbeliavable.

Meanwhile, 170 die in a plane crash now and it is barely mentioned. I am really amazed. There is only one explanation IMO, our attention is being swayed away from some real imortant development. But what?

Anyways, I Shall Be The Conqueror

What if you could make people think something is going to happen? Knowing that you could buy stock in companies that produce iodine pills for radiation for example. Some crazy people probably think they can profit off of the paranoid people that buy such items. I see everything as a matter money and it annoys me to some degree.

I feel the same about the news also. There is so much unnecessary information on televesion, the internet, and newspapers. Nothing useful is not what i want to hear or see. I sympathize with Britney Spears if she has a baby or something. Good for her. But is it necessary to know?? In my opinion, people should be aware of other things, more important things. People should know what their representatives in government are doing for example. What laws are going down, etc etc etc. The media is outrageous.

The Jonh Karr story got more media attention because it was the only story that actually had a real story. Yes, Iran said they will like to have serious talks, but we never got an official word on what their respond to the incentives were, so there is no story. Yes, a plane went down, 170 people died, we get the jist of why it went down. Yes, North Korea threatens to attack... what's new. If I got a quarter for every time they threaten to attack someone I would be rich. CNN themselves had a segment and an interview about the importance of this day and the Iranians themselves don't see anything special about this day expect for its religious purposes.

The real showdown with Iran will most likely happen after August 31 which is the deadline to shut down their nuclear facilities. Now, unless Israel resumes attacks on Lebenon, or North Korea test a nuclear bomb or Iran pulls out of the IAEA, then there is no news about a potential doomsday event.

I have not been on this site for too long, but since I've been here, I've seen countless doomsday dates and ALL did not come true. People speculate because the date is a religious holiday or represent an important day in history, but there are no real FACTS to back up their claim. Instead of creating mass hysteria on the boards, post something that you can back. Sure if there is a prediction, post it, but don't go as far as saying we will all die on that day, or WWIII will begin on that day.

So my advice, relax and wait for events to play out. The situation with Iran will heat up eventually. The situation with UN force in Lebenon will also heat up and once (IF) North Korea tests their nuclear weapon, the situation will heat up as well. All you WWIII savy people will get your death wish soon enough.

So true, DigitalGrl. FOX News has been the worst. I mean, they start their broadcast day at 6AM with coverage of this crap, and it continues all day long. What a sad day for journalism when a pervert pedophile gets top billing for days on end.

The more bs that is displayed on parade in front of the curtain, the more than is going on behind. There's always some crap on to distract the people from what is important.
The mid East Conflict was in the spot light, then all sudden second chair, I think not.

Some thing went on and they didn't want the world to know it, yet. Look at how SK gave NK aid, and then NK feels threatend because the south has a preparedness exercise.
Things happen all the time, you just have to know where to look and what to look for.

I can`t but agree with you 200%!! With all due respect for Jonbenet...but this case is getting far far far too much attention... Come on!!! They even told us what Kerr drank and ate on his flight back to the States - while sitting in business class.

I also think that all this exaggerated emphasis on this case is in fact done on purpose to cover up something else.... And what about the bomb scare a couple of weeks ago at London Heathrow? By the way they were telling the story that day it seemed that the future of air travel would change forever, that we were under one of the most serious threats ever.....but, after about 2 days, everyone stopped talking about this...and now we are getting bombarded by Kerr and Jonbenet...

Is it really possible that people just dont realize how much the media is brain washing them?!?! This time it`s just soooo obvious

Wow I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. I've been soooo sick of seeing John Karr's face all over my TV. No matter where you turn, CNN, Headline News, MSNBC, Fox..it's all there. It gets really annoying. I don't care about him. It's tragic and all that somebody would do such a horrible thing to a six year old girl but come on. It was ten years ago. Clearly this guy is just doing this for attention and we're giving it to him. His own ex-wife who HATES him says he wasn't in Boulder on that night. Why would she defend him? This is just some nut that wanted attention for the murder of a girl he was obsessed with. Quit giving this guy what he wants if he's such a terrible person and focus on the bigger stories. Yeah I know it's crazy of me to think we should focus on stories that relate to our country's security but just go with me. I'm going to write an email to Fox, MSNBC, and CNN today. I don't care if they don't respond I just want to let them know how I, and so many others, feel. You guys should do the same.

Personally, i'd rather watch the Jon Bennet story than listen to more fearmongering and lies. But that's just me.

Who here thinks anyone wishing to attack us is GOING TO ANNOUNCE IT FIRST??

Plueeeeze....that's absurd. Its only being announced to put fear in us...conditioning and brainwashing BS....

we all know something is coming. We just thought August 22nd would be an ideal date for it.

I'd say the next date is just before the mid term US elections

We're not looking for it to be announced but can we at least hear more information into suspicious military build ups or bomb scares? I'm sure there's more information to Iran's military exercises than we heard. We've heard more about what John Karr ate on the plane than we did about Iran's war games. Oh how about that Iran is massing troops on the Iraq border..did we hear about that? Oh and that Iran is shelling the kurdish territory in northern Iraq..did we hear about that? No because we're too busy hearing about what kind of alcoholic drinks John Karr had.

BREAKING NEWS

John Karr get's locked in his cell

BREAKING NEWS

John Karr has just taken a crap

BREAKING NEWS

John Karr sneezed

Come on..enough already.

Didn't you hear? It was all those "happy thoughts" that kept it from happening.

Anyway, like others have stated, I'm actually glad that the Karr stuff was in the news. I don't have TV anymore, but when I would check CNN and Fox News that was plastered all over the place. I, too, thought it was a good break from the fear mongering and everything that had been in the news recently. Are Iran or NK going to open up a whole new can of worms soon? Probably. Am I tired of hearing about it? Definitely.

I don't think that there was some grand conspiracy to keep it all under wraps. CNN has an anti-Israel agenda just as much as Fox News has a pro-Israel agenda. If anything were happening in the Middle East with Iran then they certainly would have put thier respective spins on it and put that all over the place.

The airliner crash, while sad, really isn't that surprising. They happen. If it had happened in the US it would have been the top story, for sure. But it didn't and no Americans died on board. It's upsetting to say, but unless the story somehow affects us, we don't care. It's like that with all countries, too.

The supposed armed men spotted around a nuclear facility? Maybe they were hunters who went too far one direction tracking an animal. Do you know? No. Now, if they had actually stormed the facility and then that didn't make news I would be in agreement that something was going on.

N. Korea doing testing and making thinly vieled threats? Hey, that's certainly not something that goes on every day.

As for the situation with Iran, yeah, it stinks to all hell that they said to wait another day. Personally, I think they're up to something and I don't like it one bit. But, all that happened at the meeting was Iran's representatives saying that they want another day and the UN, being the pansy, waste of money and time collective that it is, gave it to them. So what more can be said about it? Nothing really, but I guess we'll find out later today.

No doubt red herrings and smokescreens are used on a daily basis. Lord only knows what was being covered up August 22.
