They can listen to what ever music they want, they can adopt any culture they want, they can mostly do what ever they want.

Not any more. Last summer (maybe late last year) the good 'ole pres of iran stated that westren music is no longer allowed. All music must be religous in nature. Iran has its version of the 'virture police' that enforces this.

Do you think that Iran's 'virtue police' just tell people to turn off the music? I think not...people are beaten and jailed and who's knows....possibly killed.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is denying the Nazi Holocaust against the Jews while he's planning the next one. He wants to nuke most of israel for religious reasons.

That is speculation at best dj, do you have any proof of what you just stated?

President Ahmadinejad has never said he wants to nuke Israel. Infact the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, issued a fatwa banning the pursuit of nuclear weapons in Iran.

No one has addressed my point that Iran has the largest population of Jews in the Middle East. If Iran was anti-semitic, as charged by the Iran-haters, why do they not wish to leave and why does Iran allow them to stay?

Do the Iran-haters have anything more than pure speculation and down right lies to bolster there case?

FYI, President Ahmadinejad is not a dictator. He was directly elected in a public ballot. There was no international concerns raised over the validity of the ballot. Which is more than can be said about the two elections Bush stole.

Lies, lies and more lies. Who do you guys think you're fooling?

I think you'll find official policy in Iran is "discouragement" rather than punishment. They also have supposedly "banned" dressing innaproprietly and public affection, but in reality, all you get is a polite tap on the shoulder and asked to do it some place else, if that.

Of course, in the more rural areas, life is a little less easy and there are stricter enforcement of Islamic law, but I am sure the difference between Rural and Urban Iran is as different as between rural and urban USA or UK... You get some right nutjobs out in the sticks wherever you go.

That I did, that is also a glaring and damning inconsistancy the Iran-haters fail to address. We're meant to buy this whole propaganda line that Ahmadinejad is this neo-Nazi, Hitler wannabe when it is a complete fabrication.

Iran is no Nazi-Germany. There is proof in the high population of Jews who stay in Iran and Iran does not expel or hinder their religious expression. Iran also has Jewish members of Parliament.

Where is the proof Iran is anti-semitic? All I see is pure speculation and outright lies coming from the Iran-haters.

In contrast have the Iran-haters had a look at how Israel conducts its internal affairs with respect to Muslim rights? There are Jewish-only roads for Christ sake. How much more racist can you get than denying use of roads based on your race and religion?

Israel is somewhere in between Appartheid South Africa and Nazi Germany. The Israelis are engaging in ethnic cleansing of what they term "Greater Israel". Ariel Sharon himself remarked, after the 1967 war, that "All this is ours" when flying over the occupied territories of Palestine. There is a reason they destroy Palestinian and Lebanese infrastructure in their ostensible pursuit of Hamas and Hezbollah. They want to kill as many civilians as they can so they can claim the land for themselves. It would do Hitler proud. It seems the Zionists learnt a lot from Nazism.

HA! Another attempt by the Iranian president to "represent" his country!
This is the problem with the middle east in general, illusions of grandeur, strength and intelligence. False pride coupled with misbegotten ideals are what reason there is based on rather than logic, reason and fact.

Like the ravings of any institutionalized person, we can just watch this "president" with a modicum of pity; pity for his acute hebephrenia that ravages him ceaselessly day in and day out. Manifesting itself in forms such as this and others that the Iranian govt would rather not disclose.

As you can see the world is no longer bewildered by his ravings, for the west is sympathetic towards the "ill". My sympathies to the Israelis, victims of this illness.

For those who talk about 'sticking up for the Lebanese', I would just have you remember that the Lebanese are lucky the Israelis are so mild with their reactions, for instead of laser guided munitions and artillery fire, it could quite possibly have been daisycutters and MOAB's. No longer can the plea of innocence be used as a shield by the craven, be-ezrat HaShem Southern Lebanon will be cleansed in a few weeks time

More then I can say for Israelis towards Israeli-Arabs. Some must swear their fealty to Israel upon threat of being imprisoned.

Some people don't get the hint that they want Arabs out of Israel. Wether they are terrorists or just plain ole people living there.

Border Police search Israeli Arab homes without warrants

By Yoav Stern, Haaretz Correspondent

Border Police officers searched the homes of Israeli Arabs in Umm al-Fahm without search warrants Friday, residents said. They were looking for Palestinian workers staying in Israel illegally.

Residents said they were awoken at 7 A.M. Friday by gunshots and shouts of the officers, who raided the bedrooms of children as well as adults. The operation lasted for several hours.

Border Police representatives said Israel Defense Forces and Border Police troops identified three figures crossing the West Bank separation fence into Israel, near Umm al-Fahm, on Friday morning. The three suspects were arrested and taken in for questioning.

The Wadi Malham neighborhood, where the searches were taking place, is adjacent to the separation fence.

In at least one instance, residents said that officers conducted their search despite an explicit request from a resident of the house that they leave.

One Umm al-Fahm man, Raja Abed al-Latif, said the officers ordered children at gunpoint not to enter their house.

If it wasn't for the USA they'd be up the creek. Save your arrogance. In 30 years time when the oil is nearly gone and alternate fuels are in play, lets see how interesting the enforcer of the Middle East will be to the USA when we don't need the Middle East any more. So let them do what they want, drop what they want now because our ancestors have lived there for centuries and will continue to, and they will be there in 30 years too. Then what will she do? She still going to wanna play big boy on the block? Don't burn your bridges behind you.

Sadly, no such luck !

There is speculation that they "might" have dropped a MOAB but thats all there is.

If you are in a powerboat, going up or against the creek doesnt really matter. Spare me the snivelling!
In 30 years or a 3000 years, the state of Israel will still continue to exist and the Arabs will still be able to do nothing about it. Apart from terrorism that is!
There are no bridges to burn when one is doing what needs to be done. Its the Arabs that have burnt their bridges, for without their oil the world doesnt need them!

It was comforting to hear Israel's representative say that if Hezbulloh hits Tel Aviv, the gloves come off.

The power struggle continues and the people get caught in the middle.

Shameful waste of life.

If Hezbulloh hits Tel Aviv, the gloves come off?

What kind of gloves are they wearing? Big Steel ones with pointy spikes and special baby killing flails on the thumbs?

Jeez...

Wats to subz..

I would like to see this information about Iran made public. Most of our nation is fed all their real world info from the mass media and government. It's ignorance as it's highest level, and unless we can educate people about the Iranian truths, we're going to end up with a new generation that is triggerhappy, paranoid and racist.

Oh Israel most definitely has the gloves on right now...they are using a fraction of their firepower and manpower. So all you Muslim/terrorist supporters who dont like what they see now, you havent seen anything yet if Hezbo's leader actually makes good on any of his so-called "threats." You think civilians are being killed now, then you will all be crying in front of your TV's should it come to this.

That is not the answer either. It is this anger/retribution cycle that doesnt get anyone anywhere. Someone has to be the adult in this situation and change the pattern of interaction. The only way to stop this madness is for someone to stop perpetuating the cycle. All it takes is one person to put that in motion. But I honestly think we have a bunch of pubescent teens running the show...bursting with testosterone and way too much enthusiasim.
