You suggest you quoted him, and I do not deny the fact you are fairly certain you did, but I've never heard that quote nor the context in which it was suggeted.

Fact of the matter is nothing has changed in the last couple hundred years to warrant the doing away with the freedom of speech, freedom of religion (as opposed to from religion), right to keep and bear arms, etc.
Man has not changed, not in his heart, therefore government is still an instrument with inherent evil the citizenry must keep watchful eye. This is to be done through the sights of the rifles when it gets squirrelly, arbitrary or tyrannical.
