People here have taken there authority beyond the necessary policing of the site and have turned it into there own personnel police state.Kinda strange concidering the subject matter on here.Guess there personnel lives are not what they wanted to get out of life.

Its for that very reason that my last post was meant to be literally my last post on this thread.

You can't ignore a mod so the best thing to do is to just "play nice" to avoid any repercussions.

The mocking by the mod to the member is taken as normal a kinda play ground fun, Quote "wind them up and reel them in" too force a member to step over.By turning it around they know it will get under peoples skin as you cannot as it were get back at them as they hold the power. Some people have stronge personnalities and get banned others will get in line and march to slavery.
I can feel the mods getting closer now

Having said all that of course there are fools out here that need control. But a more open system to the longer term members (none Mods) who have proved there time on here could be selected as a jury.

Zuri, this is a message board. If people want to chat about the relevant subjects available such as aliens, UFOs, government and military conspiracies, then great.

If all they want to do is discuss banned members, I suggest they get lost. I really don't have the time for people who find it more interesting to themselves to create drama fests.

Banned people are banned for a reason, and in the majority of instances its either trolling or the simple inability to keep their language clean.

In the cases where banned members have been allowed back, it is common that they simply fall back into the same routine and are banned again.

... and your incessant moaning that "the mods are getting closer" is tantamount to your need to try and make a better "start" to posting on the board, rather than about it and giving indicative feelings to everyone that you are a disgruntled returning banned member yourself.

Well, zuri, looking at your 11 post, 2 of them contributed to the board, the 9 others were only to diss either the site, the membership(that don't post as you see fit) or the staff. So my question is, "Why are you here in the first place"?

WHOAAA!!

I have "gone at it" with MODs before in some rather heated discussions and probably skirted the T&C, yet the MOD I was posting with responded only as a member and not a MOD in that instance.

Now, I'm guessing, but if you do go at it with a MOD and cross the T&C, there is every chance ANOTHER MOD will step in and "Whack" you...

MOD's are members too and so not "Free" from criticism in my opinion. I have however, found the MODS to be among the more reserved and well behaved members. WAY more than I am most times. Another guess is that is why they were chosen to be MODS in the first place.

What fun would it be if one of the BIG THREE asked you to be a MOD and said that you could not engage in the debates that are so wonderfully prevalent on here?
NOW that would suck!!!

It's really all about responsibility anyway. Or the lack of it in taking responsibility for our own actions and conveniently blaming a MOD for enforcing rules and regulations that are out there for all to see.

On that note and back on topic.....

I think ATS is exactly as it should be and would not change a thing..
(kissey kissey) LOL

How about a few of these signs posted throughout the message board?

This is being discussed in the Board Business section, sorry to state the obvious.

Sorry to sound like a troll but we have freedom of speech.

Totally agree.

I`m not moaning just pointing out what happens on here. This is evidence of it.Your response is aggressive and OTT typical.I`m not disgruntled at all.I`ve always been a good member ok rattled a few people but nothing that a grown adult can`t either ignore or hand in an adult manner.

Ever since the book series Unexplanied came out when l was a kid.Simon l bet still has copies (l do).Arthur c Clarke was another plus countless books from anything from rocks moving in deserts to UFO`s, yetties, ghosts, esp etc etc etc.

Managed to get a reasonable education. Now working in an international organisation made up of mainly Spainish,French,British but mostly northern euro people along with people on temp transfer from other international units.Currently in Malaga working with Policia Nacional and CNI.Hopefully trans to Bilbao soon and AT team liasion with EU negotiating team.

I `ve had dealing`s with serial killer investigations, sometimes occult stuff no ufo stuff and very little unexplainable.I and collegues use this site for personnel stuff it is extremely interesting on both real peoples experience and on some of the many people here who need a medical check. From being on a so called inside l do get wound up with some of the many crap on here concerning govt stuff.

I apologise if l come across as a TROLL guess must get under Simon Grey skin to see them here.I`m not, l post in sections that interest me.At this point this interest`s me more than the other stuff.I `m also a straight talking guy who has a vey bitten tongue. In work it`s hard but here it isn`t, l say it as it is.

ok : to get this thread back on track :

another suggestion from the tree

the edit feature as been cited my members as either " too short " or other complaints - i have a more readical solution : abbolish the post edit system

i cannot speak for others - but the biggest cause of my own edits is errors in BBCODE even a stray space can wereck it .

of course any reasonable member would ask " why doesnt ape use the preview function "

reply - last time i did it wrecked my post and i lost over 250 words , i will do not trust it .

so to get to my proposal :

remove the edit button , and introduce compulsory preview proof checking

when you hit submit

the next page you see will be one that shows your post as it will appear in the thread

and you would need to confirm that that is the final draft , \and once you press send - that is it , it is part of the permanant ATS records .

sure mods would still need edit buttons - but members should have compulsory preview

of course to make this work - the errors , real or imagined in the preview code must be fixed and tested thouroghly .

Cheers xpert11.

I don't see why model railroading couldn't be discussed, I mean it's just another extension of the hobby. Plus it would be a great place to share news about what's going on in the hobby as far as we enthusiasts are concerned.

Any chance of having an area for the European`s.At the moment the site seems to be largely made up of American issues.Terrorism is a global issue.Theres very little reference to say ETA and the current problems there etc etc etc.
I`m not anti American and l`m sure they make up the largest group here, but it would be nice to get maybe a way of including some none english speakers.Maybe an area for French speakers,German`s,Dutch etc etc etc.

I find this is true but I guess that is determined by who post what. If there were more Europeans on the site posting and responding to issues closer to home then naturally the issues will become more popular but I thing ATS just doesnt have the same following from Europe as from America

There are programmes in europe that cover the subjects on here.In souther spain on Canal Sur they have a prog that uses investigation`s into paronormal, ghost`s etc etc etc.
There arn`t many web site in none english speaking countries but people are interested.Spain has internet the same as anyother developed country but they are well behind developing good sites. If l need to buy anything or referance on line l always try the countries site but usually this ends in too much time and frustration, l then move onto UK sites and usually find what l`m looking for within seconds.

I think if ATS developed there site to include areas for Spain,Germany,Italy etc etc there may well be a lot of info and developments that could result in crossing into the main site to give a differant prospective.

One example was receantly when there was the bomb scare.Planes flying to States were grounded in Heathrow, but one Madrid base journalist in Heatrow at the time due to fly back to Madrid was grounded but planes to New York were allowed. This was investigated and reported on Spain`s national news, but no reference on UK news. Was not a time problem as it was well after the announcement to stop the flights.

I wonder if it's possible to color the text of the thread title and not just the text in the posts. After a while I do get bored from seeing too much black text.Probably one of the reasons why people don't read too much.

I would like to see a 'Roast' somehow incorporated into the scheme of things. I'm sure there would be many volunteers who would like to be roasted. Of course it's the mods and owners that would bring the most fun.

There could be a monthly thread roasting somebody. Besides, what better way to get to know yourself than to be roasted!

You know, I'd be all for that but the nature of man would make this unrealistic. You've seen that there are some members that just live to go at certain other members. This would open up a can of worms that would fragment the board. In theory, good idea, in application, not so good. It WOULD turn nasty.

Here are two comments on the timing of entries by members:

1. I sympathize with the comment made earlier in this thread by ignorant_ape that there is "too much clutter" onscreen within ATS (the example given being the amount of time since any particular posting member last logged out of the ATS site). Decisions about relevance of particular types of data, however, are necessarily subjective. There have plenty of times I have found that particular type of info helpful, especially on breaking news types of stories.

2. There are lots of times when I cannot log on to ATS for days, even weeks, at a time. As John Lennon once said, "life is what happens when you're making other plans." Folks, like many of you, I juggle a busy life. So my suggestion for ATS improvement is:

Give us an option in our "My ATS" section to state our known upcoming absences from ATS. Lots of times, members will post this information within their posts, but that info is not easily found by searches within the ATS database. And then, in a perfect world, when we do manage to find the time to log back onto ATS, the My ATS entry on our absence would get automatically deleted.

New topic: With volunteers beginning to be trained by Al Gore's environmental teams in Tennessee, it would be great to hear from any ATS members who will be going thru that training.

And one comment on the "spellcheck" request. Be aware that some spellcheck programs are more equal than others, and that there is no perfect world there either. I remember seeing a dire article on the futility of spellcheck programs in the computer journal "Communications of the ACM." If it's needed, let me know, and I'll dig out the citation for you.

Your post was BS!

Work as positive criticism? I can see a member receiving one of these votes and then demanding to know who bestowed this honor on them. I see where your coming from, but human behaviour tells us a lot of negative could come from this.

About that BS button......................

hi - my latest " constructive idea " is a sandbox

in an earlier reply - i waffled about compulsory preview - to eliminate the need for member edits etc .

a far better proposal would be an ATS sandbox - where members could test out post edits , im\age previews , avatar and signiture blok layouts and design - in short anything - exactly as it would appear in the ATS page view

yeah , a sandbox - thats what we need

These staff members need more appreciation i think. So how about this:
we could use more smileys that says "Go Admin"or "Go Amigos"

Also there could be "Go Writer","Go Fighter","Go Scholar" smileys
